Wychwood Brewery King Goblin

The difference you've noticed between Hobgoblin and King Goblin might be because (I am speculating) King Goblin is brewed at the Wychwood brewery, whereas Hobgoblin is brewed at Marston's in Burton on Trent. Certainly Hobgoblin was being brewed in Burton when I visited the Marston's brewery about 4 years ago. The Hobgoblin I tried on cask last summer wasn't good at all.

When I was little so 15 years ago, Wychwood brewery we're leading the charge against tasteless fizzy macro lager, this of course stopped when they were bought out by carlsberg. To my memory bottled Hobgoblin and King Goblin still taste the same now as it did then. I've heard however that canned hobgoblin is shite.

grreat review mate, eh they have a beer in morrisons at the moment from brewdog , a stout called rattle n rum.. i know you dont do craft beers much but would love your opinion on it mate

Love your channel, wish you got more views as you are the best around ! Going to try adnams Broadside for the first time this weekend, I hope it is as good as everyone says it is! What's your view on Bass cask ale on draught ? Just had a few pints at the local and it didn't seem to taste of a great deal ! Keep up the good work 👍

Cheers mate! You won't be disappointed in Broadside, it's a great beer. Stronger in the bottle than on cask. Bass really is just an average ABInBev offering. They use maize in it too which put me off a bit but it's just a very very average at best. Nothing more.

You'll love Broadside Matthew, bottle version 6.1% I think n cask 4.7%. Try finding Robinsons Old Tom in the shop 8.5% you'll love that as well👍

Thanks for the reply, I'm looking forward to trying broadside. Which reminds me I must go to Tesco tonight 😂 I will have a look and see if they have any old Tom in also. I was quite disappointed with the pint of Bass. Haven't seen it in a pub for years. My parents regularly took me into a pub that was leased by Bass, so was no stranger to the brand. Thought I would try it, as it was 1 of 3 'guest ales' and it turned out to be fairly forgettable.

I like King Goblin, they still sell it in a local shop. Cascade can work in the right beer. Hob goblin ain't the beer it was, abv was lowered and hobgoblin gold is shite. Nice one Bob👍😊🍺

You're not wrong Dave, it's one I've avoided because of what they've done to Hobgoblin but it really is a decent beer.

Yet another victim of the Marston's macroism. This used to be a very complex beer, but is now fairly generic with very slight hints of its former greatness, IMO anyway.

😁 If you watch in 20mins the quality will improve. It takes time for the HD version to be processed unfortunately.
