NCT Dream’s graduation concept is actually not the first time SM did that system. Super Junior, which debuted in 2005, was also supposed to have members going in and out as the years went by, hence they initially put a year at the end of their name, eg Super Junior 05. But the concept was scrapped early on. SuperM is also not the first time SM put their artists together (SM the Ballad, SM the Performance, Younique subunit), but it is supposed to be long-term as compared to their other special units, I reckon. It’s unfortunate that the Covid pandemic struck right after their debut, so they couldn’t tour around as much. Also, NCT China was already in the works long before WayV debuted, but it’s debut kept on getting delayed. Johnny, Doyoung, and Ji Hansol (former trainee), were supposed to be included in it.

A side and B side came from casette concept where they have two sides. The A side is usually the main songs or the first tracks people play first when they use casette in tape radio, and B side are the rest of the tracks. Since CD don't have that concept, people change the term to side tracks. It's generational things + konglish mixed in it.

B-sides tracks are the other songs you find in an album apart from the title track. Title tracks are usually the ones that have music videos and are used to promote the album, while b-sides mostly don't have videos or maybe one can have. I'll give an example of NCT 127 album fact check, that has the title track fact check itself plus other nine song which are b-sides in the albums.

a little extra housekeeping: - nct as a whole/nct 127 leader is taeyong (he and ten are the only official soloists in the group) - dream leader is mark - wayv leader is kun - mark is all over nct bc he debuted in nct u, then 127, then dream. he was actually already debuted in 127 before graduating dream - a good official series on the nct yt is the nct show where all 23 memebers got together and had a "workshop", they all intermix and it gets pretty crazy. NCT WISH is the new unit and last unit & Lucas left the group due to gaslighting dating scandal he recently just came back after being ona hiatus for like 3 years he dropped a 2 part documentary on his youtube channel (LUCAS) n is coming back a soloist. not just that it was other things as well but i don’t remember everything that happened during that time and SM entertainment never spoke about the issue. as someone who got into nct during boss era because of lucas i’ll always believe the victim first hate it or not till i see actual proof

Some WayV reccomendations: Regular (a cover of a Nct 127 song sung in chinese and their debut song), Turn Back Time, Moonwalk, Phantom, On My Youth, Love Talk (English version) Miracle and Poppin' Love. WayV usually sing in Chinese but they have also Korean and English versions of their songs. They live in Korea and usually go to China only during promotions. To answer about the concerts: usually Nct promotes in subunits so for example there is a Nct 127 tour and at the concert you can see only Nct 127. However they made Nct Nation in 2023 which had all subunits together and performed in Korea and Japan live and in movie theatres all around the world. Sometimes you can see all Nct at SM Town concerts. These are concerts with all artists from SM so you can see Nct, Exo, SuperM, Riize, Aespa, Shinee ecc and also collab stages between different groups. SuperM has 4 Nct members (Taeyong, Mark, Lucas and Ten), 2 Exo members (Kai and Baekhyun) and 1 Shinee member (Taemin). Some of their songs are Jopping, One (Monster and Infinity), 100, Tiger Inside, We Do.

39:01, the title track(the music videos that you react to) are the songs that promote the ablum in its entirety. B-side is the songs on the ablum that are not promoted. sometimes, they will pick 1 or 2 songs with the titled track to help (in depth) promote the album. Personally, i like the b-side more so than the title tracks because it explains the ablum more in its whole essence. Hope this helps!❤

NCT WISH is their newest and last unit so it is 26 members now. WayV is seriously underrated and have some of the best music and content. You should definitely dive into them. WayV songs are in Chinese and English mainly, there are also Korean versions of some songs. Some suggestions are turn back time, kick back, on my youth, rodeo, take off, love talk. Also I highly recommend the live performances from NCT Nation. It was a full concert with all NCT members and was truly remarkable.

13:36 I think a big reason SM got rid of the graduation system, is because NCT Dreams turned out to be the most popular unit in Korea. They got NCT (as a whole) their first win and the line up is really beloved since fans got to see them grow up. So to ensure their domestic fanbase, SM made them a fixed unit.

If you asked about nct concert whether dream is gonna be on this day or 127 on the other day, no bcs their recent concert (nct nation) had all 20 members together in 1 concert and they performed a lot of nct u songs and some unit songs. But each unit also had individual concerts and world tour. Most of wayv songs is in mandarin or english. They have their own wayv greetings when they promoted in china but when they promoted in korea as nct, they use the korean greetings. Hope this helps!

P.S, that song “Candy” isn’t originally there’s, they did a remastered (cover) of it, the original song is sung by a group called H.O.T back in the 90s but Nct dream definitely kept the concept with a modern twist and even the choreography or at least some parts is the same.

I do reccomend checking out coded color lyrics if a song doesn't have a mv or if you just want to focus on the lyrics. HOWEVER, these videos are 100% fan-made, actually sometimes they are not made by fans of the group but by people who just do translations for kpop stans, and because of it being both fanmade and not so fanmade both the lyrics and the person whose portrait is lighting up are not always 100% correct. Still its a very good way to get to know the members names and voices, its just not 100% accurate the comments will tell you if a part is wrong
