There's also now NCT Wish, which is essentially what NCT Tokyo became. Shotaro and Sungchan left and became a part of RIIZE before being placed in an NCT group, but I believe the general expectation was that we thought they would end up in Tokyo/Wish.

7:18 those are Sungchan and Shotaro, who debuted during the 2020 full group project and weren't assigned to any unit so they were floating around in limbo till last year, doing some NCT U songs every once in a while. Then 3 new SM rookies were introduced: Eunseok, Seunghan and Shohei and fans were excited for them all to be part of the Japanese sub unit, that had been teased beforehand. Suddenly SM announces the debut of new a boygroup and after departing from NCT Sungchan and Shotaro are confirmed to be part of the lineup, along with Rookies Seunghan and Eunseok. Shohei was revealed to leave the lineup for health reasons and so he didn't debut. This new boy group is Riize, it has the 2 former NCT members, the 2 almost members/rookies and 3 new trainees (Wonbin, Sohee and Anton). Regarding the anticipated debut of the Japanese subunit, SM aired a survival show with only company trainees to decide who would conform "NCT New Team" (the working name for the group pre-debut), the show is called NCT Lastart and I believe it was paid content, I can't really remember. 7 trainees made it to the finale, only 6 ended up debuting and they are now NCT WISH!! All of this to conclude in the fact that since this guide was made a lot has happened and we are now at the final number of members: 26.

This is a great introductory guide, but as you said it doesn't go into the members themselves which is why individual guides of the units is needed as well. But yeah, it's the country he lived in the shortest amount of time in his life, I guess, because about 6 years later he moved to South Korea to be trainee under SM. He doesn't even have German passport, I believe, but probably has residence permit of sorts? Given that the family actually moved there to live. Maybe the rest of his family acquired citizenship by now, idk.

I'm not sure if you know or not but the Japanese unit has debuted. They are now known as NCT Wish and consist of 6 completely new members: Shion, Riku, Yushi, Jaehee, Ryo and Sakuya.

Ack, I so desperately want to edit this guide but it does a good basic job. To answer a question you posed earlier which I haven't seen comments yet address, yes, Mark was extremely busy from a very young age. In 2016 he debuted 3 times, April in NCT U, July in 127 and August in Dream. He turned 17 that August. Haechan is a year younger so he debuted in 127 in July and Dream in August having just turned 16. And the both of them have been booked solid practically ever since, phew. (Now that the older Korean members of 127 are enlisting, 127's activities will slow down and Mark and Haechan will hopefully sleep , sorry, I feel like their mother and I just want to send them to bed.) There is an insane level of content to enjoy, don't feel you have to rush. It will all be there when you get to it and it's a very fun rabbit hole to fall down...

I am just a teacher and editor by training so I want to polish it up, that's all. I know English isn't their first language and there are a couple of facts that are incorrect or sentences that can give the wrong impression, that's all.

That's why I want to tweak it, I mean that as a compliment. ;) I am a teacher and editor by training and this could be even better with a few changes/edits. I really respect what they have done here and I also hope they make the next soon. Guides are not easy to make and there is always someone who is going to complain. I know English is not their first language so I just want to help with that and there are a few facts that are incorrect or sentences that could be more clear or accurate. That's all :D

As always LOVE your reaction to NCT, few things i wanna tell you : 1- As the guide said just take each unit at a time once u feel like u know the members and its sound go to the next one no need to rush take your time.... 2- An other reason for NCT DJJ .... SM groups have this tradition of having a 3 vocalist members sub unit like : SUJU KRY (kyuhyun rewook yesung) SNSD TTS (Taeyoen Tiffany Sooyoung) EXO CBX (chen baekhyun Xiumin) NCT DJJ (doyong jaehyun jungwoo) 3- i recommend: NCT 127 "cherry bomb" "simon says" "sit down" "lemonade" And compilation

The only thing I don't like about this Guide is that NCT WISH having 2 pre-debut songs, the pre-debut tour, their performance at NCT NATION and all the LASTART material were not included in the video. The person who did this couldn't even put a photo of the boys calling them even "the Japanese unit" even though they themselves were already called NCT WISH when the guide was uploaded.

NCT Dream is such a cute unit, alot of fans are around the same age as Dream so in a way we all grew up with Dream so its a special unit in my opinion. Mark was a minor at the time and ofc all the other members, Jisung being only 14. It's crazy how NCT Wish are all younger than Jisung expect for the oldest being Jisung's age. Its funny that WayV make such sensual songs bc the youngest is the same age as most Dream members but then again he debuted as an adult and Dream does now make songs like 119

This was fun. It was a lot to digest, and a lot of the AI pronounciations I found irritating, but on the whole it was a good introduction. One of the great things about these guys is that they really don’t look alike, so once you get the names down you’ll be able to match them to the faces surprisingly quickly. The lyric videos can be very helpful in that regard. I definitely recommend the dance practices. Here you saw 127’s “Ay Yo” (Taeyong’s spiky hairdo is from the mv, one of my faves), Dream’s “Beat Box,” and WayV’s “Moonwalk.” There are also a LOT of b-side track/archive videos that are great; many people love 127’s “Lemonade,” but my top picks are U’s “Misfit” and 127’s “Earthquake.” ❤️

ive been watching your guy's reactions for a few weeks now, and i absolutely love them!! nct are my ults and have been for 8 years now, so i love seeing people get into them!! i think this concept guide is super good, but the only thing is that no one really talks about why lucas left, because it was due to sexual assault allegations. even though statements weren't clear, he admitted to it in his official apology, so most people dont really associate him w the group anymore! some fans still want him back in the group, but thats just a difference in individual people.

Actually Yangyang is Taiwanese, not German. He does speak German but not extremely fluent, nowadays he seems to hesitate speaking it (from NCT Nation), probably forgotten a bit. Plus, I think he uses English mostly when he was in Germany.

I hate this guide so much lmao Omg, Candy isn't even an NCT Dream song, it's from the 90s by SM group H.O.T... why was it even included as a more mature concept for Dream? And YangYang is not German, he's from Taiwan and SM treats all of their employees like crap not just foreign members hence why they're losing Korean members left and right like Taemin, Onew, Baekhyun, D.O., Chen, Xiumin plus others.

SM most definitely has a history of treating their foreign idols even worse, it's now unfounded at all. There's a reason the Chinese members of Super Junior and EXO aren't there anymore. Just because SM treats everyone terribly, doesn't mean its not true that there's a definite prejudice present. And it's not just SM, this is something that's been documented throughout the Korean industry and society.

And this guide isn't perfect, it never said it was trying to be. "Candy" became an NCT Dream song the minute they released it as a remake, not just a cover. And it was pretty clear to me that the guide just had some issues with the editing and separating some sections. "Candy" was included in the "mature concept" section as were the lyric videos and bsides in the "variety content" section which isn't the best place for that either. Not really the end of the world lol

​@sweetyongf Didn't say it wasn't true but I hate it when fans decide what level of crap is worse when they have lost a lot of Korean artists and when Korean artists like Taemin, Baekhyun, and D.O decide to beat it, then things must be bad bad because from the outside they seemed to have been treated kind of alright but them leaving tells me just how bad it is. Also CBX are all koreans and sued SM so Idk how fans decide who is being treated worse but one can just take a look at how EXO have been treated since the start and can realize SM doesn't go out of their way to just mistreat foreign members when SM mistreats all of them. Look at why Tao left. Now look at how Mark and Haechan are being worked to death without any consideration for their health. I mean, yes foreign members have been treated crappy but so are korean members so how can one accuse sM of Xenophobia when EXO have been treated as badly as say WayV.
