How is it that the current generation of rally cars don't look as fast as the oldies?

Exactly what I was wondering! I think maybe because the newer cars seem a little less dramatic, less sideways or fish tailing on acceleration and the Escorts especially sound they're revving the nuts off them when they probably aren't doing so any more than the others. having said that the old cars still do indeed look faster!

On pace the RWD Escorts are still up there with the modern 4x4s. Three of them finished in the top 10 overall.

It's simple really.... Modern 4 wheel drives are far quicker , but you can't beat oldskool rear wheel drive for spectator enjoyment .... I blame the Audi Quattro !! Lol

I think it's mostly to do with safety guidelines and all that jazz. Group B rally cars had an insane amount of power in those engines and it was way too dangerous. So, cars now are not allowed to be that powerful or I guess that fast anymore because of safety. This also looks like a "1 hairpin" not saying Dirt Rally 2.0 is super realistic but playing that game a hairpin like the one in the video you best believe you need to go slow. That may also be why the cars seem so slow. It's a 1 hairpin left unseen followed by either 2-3 right to 4-5 left.
