Until I started watching Wyoming Fish and Game, I never knew there was so much work that went in to managing wild life or raising fish. You guys amaze me and that is hard to do. Thanks for all your work.

Hi. thank you for the great video. Any chance you would want to share some information with me about the side box skimmer and the Radial flow filter pls? Maybe some pics of how i can make them for my tanks here in South Africa. They seem fairly simple Not understanding how the standpipe works and seals the outlet . With the currency exchange rates those things are unreachable for the average joe doing small scale trout aquaculture. thanks in advance

Hi, this is Dan Speas Fish Hatchery in Casper, Wyoming. However, we do also have a fish hatchery in Story, Wyoming. The Wyoming Game and Fish Department has 10 fish hatcheries statewide.

What a dream job!!!!? But I was thinking about why these are necessary and is it because of pollution and over fishing or combination of impacts from humans which causes the rivers ,lakes and streams to just not have heathy numbers of fish? Also is the fishery privately owned and paid by the state or is it owned by the state and he is paid to operate it?
@wyomingadventures3 жыл бұрын
Owned by the state. Fish they raise are for everyone to catch. These guys do a great job.

Wyoming doesn't have sturgeon. And this is state owned. They don't sell the fish.

@gautamgiri49914 жыл бұрын
If u need to have 1000000 fishes u need very big pond but with big pond u cant clean it nor can u medicate the whole pond if needed so wat now a days ppl do is make 100's of small pond so that if there is any medical problem it wont spread to all the fishes plus it can be cleaned easily.. its called bio floc fish farming.
@wyomingadventures3 жыл бұрын
Big fish will eat smaller fish. No natural places to hide in the tanks.

@24681359David3 жыл бұрын
This really isn't about wild fish populations. It's about keeping the stocking levels in lakes and rivers up enough so they don't go extinct from all the fishing people do. If people wouldn't fish so much you wouldn't have a need for hatchery fish. Though, I love to fish, so I don't see that disappearing any time soon.
@wyomingadventures3 жыл бұрын
Conor not if it's done right. You are talking about a whole different country and set of circumstances.

Sad that these have to exist
@wyomingadventures3 жыл бұрын
It's been like this for a long time. Wyoming gets lots of tourists. Lots of states do this for their fisheries. Otherwise people wouldn't get to catch fish.
@tylerfish62063 жыл бұрын
@@wyomingadventures I’m very thankful for them, there is probably some in every state. I dont know if I’ve ever caught a wild trout, besides a tiny brookie
@wyomingadventures3 жыл бұрын
@@tylerfish6206 we do have small brookies in the creeks here. Sorry I didn't mean to sound not nice. Yeah I agree it would be nice to not have to have hatcheries to restock fish. Wish they would repopulate on their own without man having to help them.
