KZbin should NEVER remove this video. If KZbin does not have a permanent collection of videos, then it needs one right now and this video needs to be in that collection immediately. Mr. Marsalis, you have been an inspiration to many. I am now one of your biggest fans. I just hope and pray that you are not playing "Taps" in the same hall on January 20, 2021. Thank you so very much for this video and for your playing. Wynton Marsalis for President!!!!

@@zoejewell8771 I get that. I think my point that we do not lose anything with Wynton Marsalis as president is made. WYNTON FOR PRESIDENT!! Where can I get that bumper sticker??? The White House residence already has a music room. It is ready for him to take the gig. The one thing is that this job might mean a pay cut for Mr. Marsalis, but the State Dinners would be much more enjoyable for all. I cannot wait for his first State of the Union address.

The amazing thing about the music world is that so few of us recognize the absolutely unchallenged greatness of Mr Marsalis as a trumpet player. So few musicians ever achieve his level of musical prowess. We are fortunate today to have many recordings and even video of great trumpet players like Raphael Mendez..... Dizzy Gillespie....Louis Armstrong....Harry James....Doc Severinsen....Chet Baker....Miles Davis.... Maurice Andre.....Clark Terry and countless others...yet we have Wynton today in his prime as a musician and don't seem to recognize his greatness.

Amen. Every year for Christmas we would bring our sons to the holiday concert of JALC, even when it was still at Lincoln Center. Wynton’s arrangement of the America’s genius Duke Ellington’s arrangement of the Nutcracker Suite was among the best things I ever saw/heard. (And by the way, RIP Stanley Crouch, a master with words as Wynton is a master with trumpet.) And before the “lockdown” destroyed the small Jazz clubs we would go about a dozen times a year to hear America’s Classical Music. And when Judgment Day comes and that roll is taken up there, Exhibit A for the value of America will be Jazz. The Ever Fonky Lowdown was great, great, great. Lesson? It’s all a hustle and one has to guard one’s soul from being sucked into the hustle.

As a trumpet player im very interested in this part 2:58 and would like to know how he did it!
@LL-gk8wt2 жыл бұрын
I think it has to do with the surroundings, if you dive deep into musical theory, the room your in has a note it is in tune to. if you have two trumpet players and they both play a a note perfectly in tune with each other you will hear a faint note at an octave higher, the same theory holds true to that natural tone of the room, i believe it works with 3rds 4ths 5ths, and 6ths, which is why we hear it again at 4:07. This video inspired me to take a deep dive into what he was doing weeks ago, and I can't find any one who purposely does this, so I think it has to do with the harmonics and resonance of the room.
@alannesbitt9216 Жыл бұрын
It’s true that every room has a resonant note, and it may be that this room likes Concert F (trumpet G). As a trumpet player, the key of Concert Bb is the most familiar and uses the most open fingerings, which also helps the resonance in the room.
