Hey guys! Many of you have expressed concern over the way trout are handled and released in this video. We share and appreciate your passion for preserving our natural resources. I have talked to our crew and we plan to implement the changes you have suggested on our next trip. Thanks for the watching!

We just left the Mile for our summer trip, we took a net this year and still caught most of our fish on Jigs and stickbaits. The net was a great tool that we hadn't used in previous years. Kept the fish in the water the whole time. Got the hooks out quickly and we can confidently say all fish were released unharmed and alive. Thanks for the comments Dan!

Don't lose any sleep over it, there's nothing you can do that will ever be good enough for these fly guys. Sure seems like the nancies in the drift boats are the ones that are fragile, the fish are fine
@a1ckruse7 жыл бұрын
cool video..im a fly fisherman myself and the miracle mile is my favorite place to fish and idk if you guys catch a lot of trout but just an fyi don't hold a trout like a bass, there mouths are not designed to be held that way..one hand under the belly the other under the tail.. also you should try picking up a 7wt and a large streamer and try that on the mile. I guarantee you will have the same results but that's just my opinion.
@ThatsAGoodFish7 жыл бұрын
Thanks man! it's a great place to fish! Not the optimal way to hold them that's for sure, although we assure you we are very careful the few times we do hold them like that. Maintaining the fishery is the most important thing! May have to try those streamers sometime, essentially that's what an articulated jig is. Just heavier. Thanks for the watch!

great fishing! Only issue is, once you grab the trout with your dry hands you wipe off the protective slime, he may swim away looking healthy but chances are he is as good as dead with in next day ..between stressing them with a long fight and wiping off the protective slime, they really don't have a chance for survival.

Thanks, will keep that in mind.

What weight jighead do u use for your jigs? 1/8 ounce?😊
@ThatsAGoodFish5 ай бұрын
Just depends on the flow. You want to have a weight that lets you keep your bait down but also work through the runs, and holes slow. Generally 1/16, 1/8 oz are common with 2-6 lb line

Great video! I love that you guys are going out there with jigs and spinning gear, and just some shorts and shoes. Makes the show really accessible to guys like me who just wanna catch some good numbers and don't have the money or time to invest in fly gear. Also PLEASE always leave the genuine reactions in there (when you chases that big one down stream and lost it). However, please do not lip your trout. Their bones are super fragile and their jaws will get damaged if lipped
@ThatsAGoodFish8 жыл бұрын
Yeah we don't see the need to invest in all the fly gear, shorts and tennis shoes do just fine for us. All we do is jig fish and throw jerkbaits and we always have done really well. We try and keep it as natural and real as possible which is why i left my reaction after losing that trout lol. I was was very angry.

Nice fish and cool video. Contrary to popular belief, it is not good to rock a Trout back and forth to get water across there gills. This is hard on the fish's counter current exchange system for passing oxygen across there gills to oxygenate their blood, so it is better to just hold them in the water until they swim away.

I'm in the process of switching everything back to the original. So if you watched some and the text captions were bouncing all over the place that is not how the original looked. Hopefully have everything straightened back around by this afternoon.
