I was waiting for your review on this doorbell! Thanks for your thoughts on it. I have one question… would you consider this a better doorbell cam than the Wyze Cam Pro? I had one that was damaged recently and I’ve been trying to decide if I should get another one or try this new one out. The voiceover IP didn't work because you had your phone and the camera right beside each other. They were creating feedback. I watch a lot of your videos for a long time because you usually do a really good job. But that one part seems like kind of a big oversight.

While I’m in the eufy ecosystem, it does look cleaner than the eufy alternatives + it has SD storage!! (I still have the Homebase 2). Is the footage encrypted or can you just view on a PC? Edit: SD card isn’t great if it gets stolen though

My Wyze doorbell duo didn’t come with a release pin. I had to use a toothpick (which got stuck 😂) when I accidentally attached the top of the doorbell to the back first and had to order a release pin from Amazon. Thank goodness I was able to get them alone and got 2 for 4$. Not sure how that was overlooked when packaging them but it happens.

I have a similar door bell camera that has the same style lens setup, works great. Mine is a Phillips version but I bet more manufacturers will make similar units. I get email alerts on my phone but I turned off the audio alerts so I'm not distracted all day at work. Mine had about 35 percent battery after a month or so and I can wire in the door bell wiring if I have it, which the door it's on doesn't have. The SD card in mine seems to be working ok but I don't have it set to continues recording. There are a lot of decent options out there now. I think mine retails for 200.

How well would this work on a door which is double doors, and two doors wide? Would the corner mount make this work? Or is it not the right solution, and should I get a simple camera above the door?

The Wyze DuoCam Doorbell only lasts around 3 days on battery. After calling support and running through the settings with them, they said it was a malfunctioning battery. They sent a replacement battery but it still only lasts around 3 days. Going wired is not possible in our situation. Do you know if this doorbell will work with a solar panel?

Hey LifeHackster, I have a request. Can you please make a video just talking about the recent subscription changes for Ring subscribers in Canada? They are removing things from our current subscription such as live monitoring/SOS and putting them in a $300/year subscription which is absurd. And maybe in that video you can talk about Ring alternatives that have an affordable live monitoring service too. I'm thinking about switching.

Looks like vertical fov is lacking or needs a vertical wedge. Package detection sad. Other people said SD card issues if I recall. May try reolink instead. The Tapo D225 did not detect enough motion for me. Always appreciate your reviews. Thank you.

I was waiting for your review on this product. How’s the volume/sound quality at the door compared to the Tapo doorbell D225? I heard the previous versions of Wyze doorbells are not loud enough and visitors can’t understand what you say.

The volume is on the soft side. If you have a lot of outdoor noises, then the person at the door will have a hard time hearing.

I have the v3pro. In my opinion the person detection notifications are delayed because the clip has to end before it is analyzed by ai. I always get the notification after the person has past my house.

I was looking forward to this review. I just ordered me one. Another Wyze product I am adding to my home. The $9 dollars per month subscription is the best value when compared to Arlo, Ring and others. Hopefully the VOIP call will be improved via software update since I really like this feature.

Wyze has the chime controller for sale on their app, do you plan on making a video on it? I have been looking for a video on it, but doesn't seem anyone has done it yet. I just got the duo cam, and I'm having a random ding from the mechanical chime as I have it wired. I have read that it's a bug, just wondering if the chime controller would help.

honestly I think there was be a decent market for Doorbell's that take Sim cards for ppl with bad wifi, or routers that don't reach....that way the doorbell will have a good 5g connection all the time and also be able to phone directly with its own phone number.

Mines is acting up it’s making my chime go off randomly after much research and upgrading my transformer and still having issues I found that it may require a Wyze chime controller but I can’t find one for sell anywhere

My chime is doing the same thing. They sell the chime controller on the app, it shows for the door bell cam v2 but my guess is it's for this new one as well.

The sensor on this is crap unless you pay for Camplus to enable/disable the proper alerts in or else just like their cameras it'll pick up ANYTHING that moves.

Over all I like this camera for the added camera that detects packages and in my opinion it works as intended. However the top 2k camera isn’t as sharp as the previous door bell camera V2. The V2 was great but lacked a chime and package view. Bottom line I’m happy with this new duo version and so far haven’t had any issues with notifications or VOP notifications, it’s a keeper!

Continuous recording doesn't need a subscription. You will not get AI smart detection though and notifications will have a 5 minute cool off.

There are only a very few video doorbells that have a PoE option. Mostly, you will get them from brands that also sell NVR's like Reolink.

You cannot put a microphone to close to the speaker. You create impossible loop (feedback just like a PA system). Do other cameras have faster notifications? I know they can't be instant

Thank You Thank You Thank You!!!!! I’ve had mine now for about two weeks now and having the exact same issues!!. While I appreciate the far better resolution and performance over the Kuna Maximus Duo Cam it replaced, the delay in notifications about to become a deal breaker. This is even more apparent when compared to a Cam V4 that has been pointed at the same front door ever since that cam was launched to replace a V3. To exasperate the issues even further, after about two days the doorbell button became stuck in the pressed position leaving it to sometime chime even when no one is there. Even further, now when some presses the ‘already pressed in button, sometimes it will chime, sometimes it won’t. I asked for a replacement on Oct 30th and had to call Wyze twice for a status of the replacement. Today is Nov 9th and I’m still waiting. While some issues like delayed notifications can be resolved through firmware updates, bad design and lack of quality manufacturing cannot. I think if they poll their customers to ask if they would pay 10-15% more for higher quality craftsmanship, many would say YES Please forward this response to Wyze

Nothing about Wyze products are an upgrade because their software is always loaded with bugs or too much unneeded info. And, the notifications on all their products is too slow because by the time you see the video what triggered the event is gone. Wyze needs to focus on their software instead constantly releasing new products, which also have software issues.
