My only gripe with my WYZE cameras is the poor firmware support for RTSP (Real Time Streaming Protocol) streaming, that works with professional and open source surveillance software on non-smart phone platforms. (Their proprietary smart phone interface protocols aren't supported by any software other than their own phone app as far as I've ever seen, so are useless with commercial grade surveillance software). They have an old, mostly unsupported, beta firmware release for the cameras that can support this RTSP protocol, but as was reported in the original beta program it is horribly flaky and unreliable - requiring manual resets from the smart phone app every few days to a few hours to keep it working correctly. Dumping a few snapshots into their locked down, only phone accessible cloud for a few days or weeks isn't good enough for all surveillance requirements - so I wish they'd support this functionality much better as it deserves. Sad and embarrassing that my 10 year old "simple IP camera" can support RTSP to virtually any high grade surveillance software much better than the WYZE cameras can! Thanks for your excellent review!

@artmakersworlds4 жыл бұрын
I didn't see it here, went and looked up their site directly. USELESS! So I'll try this. What if I do NOT WANT to put an app on my cell phone. Will this work without an app? And without bluetooth (which I have NEVER got to work on anything, ever.) So does it have something like an SD card or some such WIRED way of getting videos off? Also this is not 20.00. More like 50. I should add.... My cell phone is an iphone 5. Most likely too old for any apps. Very few work. Which is fine, it's a phone. I don't really use apps. But I doubt I could if I tried. So lets stick with the no cell phone question.
@DoItYourselfDad4 жыл бұрын
You can pull video straight off the camera by removing the cameras SD card and not have to go through the app, but you would still have to set up the camera through the app. The App doesn't use bluetooth, it connects via WiFi. Only drawback is the location updates for each cam going back to home office. Allows the chinese cruise missiles to zoom in on preferred targets during final confirmation of flight. Really like the product but, if you live near power plant, base of some sort have to consider why the are so inexpensive. hooway hooway plus they are about to get more $$. Well made fyi vlog ty

Great video! How is the back sticky part still holding? If it were to fall due to weather or just wear and tear how would you reinforce it? Considering a few but not 100% solid on the sticky situation

Is the motion sensor you put outside water proof/resistance?

I can't say for sure but i'm guessing that the magnet held sensors might fall off the door if closed or slammed with a bit more force? can the sensors be fitted with screws??
@DoItYourselfDad5 жыл бұрын
They’re not held on with the magnet, they use 3m tape.
@nonnobissolum5 жыл бұрын
@Elia....you can use Velcro, like what is available for picture frames/hooks--also 3m products in the "Command" line of things.

How do these do in harsh winters? I'm in Indiana
@DoItYourselfDad5 жыл бұрын
These haven't been on the market for a full year yet so it's hard to say. They may be water-resistant but definitely not waterproof. If you were to use them outside I would make sure they were under some sort of eve or awning.

Yup, you can also set it to trigger your cameras to record. They are coming out with lights as well that will be comparable with the sensors.
@ryanmathews86485 жыл бұрын
based on your examples, these examples are weather proof?
@DoItYourselfDad5 жыл бұрын
I wouldn’t call them weather proof, resistant at best. If you put them outside I’d make sure they were under eaves so they don’t get hit with rain.

A camera would tell you a lot more than hey, somebody opened the screen door!
@DoItYourselfDad5 жыл бұрын
Correct, but the sensors work directly with their cameras. You could also use the sensors in places you would never put a camera, like a bathroom.

@c.m .... I said you could use the motion sensor in a bathroom. People have used them in bathrooms to trigger lights to come on.
