Wyze Sense Review - Contact & Motion Sensor Kit - Unboxing, Setup, Installation

Today, we are going to check out the latest offering from Wyze..... the Wyze Sense. This is a contact and motion sensor kit which comes with a sensor bridge that needs to be attached to your Wyze Cam or Wyze Cam Pan, 2 contact sensors and 1 motion sensor.
What I like about these sensors is that they are pretty small they are approximately 1 1/4" inch square so that you can install them anywhere. We are going to do the unboxing, setup and I'll show installation and application samples and see if this 20 dollar kit is going to find its way in your homes.

I live in a rented apartment,and I've got two wyze cam pans and two sensor kits.-one sensor on each or the front and back doors and a camera and motion sensor in the living room.-im very happy with the whole system -especially because my wife and I can keep an eye on our dog who has seizures- whilst we are at work.

I have seen these advertised all over the place and thought that these were just some kind of BS but your video and demonstration pointed out how useful these actually are. I have some tenants that leave the garage door open every once in a while and I generally make them donate some money to a local food pantry if it is left open. This should help me monitor the status and get some more donations. Will pick up another camera and sense next week.

I came across your channel a few months ago when I wanted a battery operated outdoor security camera & liked the Reolink Argus 2 & when looking for reviews on it, found your channel. You encouraged me to purchase the Argus 2 & the WYZE cam 2 for indoors & set it up in my window to monitor my front door following your instructions. It works GREAT! I also like the Reolink Argus Eco and planned on ordering that also now that it's released , but I would love to see a review on the NEW Reolink PT. I've been using and they are pretty great. Keep in mind though that while WYZE is currently working on ability to turn off the alerts, as well as grouping, there will be no way to turn off the actual sensor without physically removing the battery (per Wyze). Not a big deal for the contact sensors, but could be a battery issue for the motion sensors if placed in any location where frequent activity would be detected.

That's my problem totally, even turning camera off still powers the motion sensor, you literally have to unplug the camera or relocate the sensor, not any good for a living room. Makes no sense to me not to be able to turn the system off.

This is what I have been looking for as I need censers that do not set the home alarm off every time,. I live in a block of flats and the mail and parcels come at different times of the day and it's a pain having to check the mailbox every hour if you waiting for a delivery. One censor on the door to tell me if someone has broken in to my mailbox and the movement censor to contact my phone when the mail or parcels have been delivered and the same for my garage. I am sold on this and am going to look on Amazon to look at prices. I am a total novice in this area and have look at a couple of your videos and found them helpful and decided to subscribe.

Well I was waiting on your review to see your suggestions for use. You didn't mention that they are IFTTT compatible (as of last Friday 5/3), but even that is pretty limited. For example I wanted the motion sensor at the end of the hall so that in the morning as I walk down the hall it will turn on a light (ST connected) in the living room. Well it will do that, but I can't make it do it "only at night (8pm-7am)." AND there is a huge delay. There is a way but its not as easy as the IFTTT app and it would not fix the delay. So for now I don't have a use for it. (Waiting on Wyze bulb) On the other hand I am using the 2 contact sensors set to alert if something stays open too long. One is on my garage door to the kitchen. The other is on the fridge. We have those french style doors and sometimes one of them does not close all the way and gets left open when we aren't paying attention. Thanks for the review. I'd love to see how you really use it on a regular basis.

My experience with IFTTT is that it is not consistent and sometimes it can be 4-5 minute delay...the best integration in your case will be with their Wyze bulb when it comes out.

I agree, the ability to add the concept of time to ifttt skills would be huge. It was possible with Stringify, but now that Comcast bought it and are shutting down public access (typical Comcast), it leaves a bit of a hole. Generally I find Ifttt response time to be acceptable (5 seconds or less).

I'm planning on buying the package that comes with 1 camera, 2 contact sensors, 1 motion sensor and bridge on Amazon Canada. However Amazon doesn't sell Wyze sensors on their own, and Canadians can't buy from the Wyze website which is very frustrating, I don't want to have to buy a camera each time I need another sensor!

FYI the wyze sense is comparable with Alexa echo. I have it set up at my front door and the Alexa makes a multi room announcement letting the family know, no matter where family is located, that sometimes at the front door. I have echos throughout ther house. I also use the wyze sense with Alexa for security when we are of town along with the Phillips sensors works great. Wyze sense sends notifications faster with Alexa. All you have to do is setup routines in a Alexa. It should find your sensors under devices.

I am a HUUUGE fan of the Wyze cameras and have also recommended them to all my friends and acquaintances. I was so excited when Wyze came out with the sensors. But to my disappointment, I can't get the sensors to work with my Wyze cameras. Wyze even kindly sent me more sensors to try and another Wyze cam -- but still no luck. I'm wondering if I got an old batch that were duds? I just tried my third camera and more motion sensors and still no communication with my iPhone. Maybe it doesn't work with the latest iPhone XR or the latest Apple OS update? I so wished I could get these motion sensors to work.

For the motion sensor, could you set it up around the corner where a Wyze camera is set up so the camera can record a couple seconds earlier? For example, if someone walks by the sensor and turns the corner, the camera is already recording as opposed to relying on the camera's motion detection.

True. It is more to monitor an area that cameras are not allowed or to notify you of a specific activity to already motion active area...for example..opening of a drawer, fridge, door and your family or guests are home.

I got two cameras, and just set up the wyze kit . My problem is the motion sensor can't be turned off when your home , even turning camera off it still sends alerts. The only thing I can do is find a place that no one goes and take it off living room wall. Any help? Anything I'm missing anybody? I hate to unplug my camera Everytime I come home.

Yes, that is one of my concerns is that you can not individually turn on or off the sensors. They will be updating this in the near future. For, now you can unplug the bridge if you are home.

Unlike the cameras with wired power, these are more likely to be effected by weather due to battery chemistry that will be effected over time by heat, humidity, and cold.

I tried sticking a sensor inside my car on the door & frame. But that sticky tape failed. The heat in the car made it fall off. and I bet in the cold winter, it'll do the same.

The mounting tapes are a bit weak on the Wyze sensors.. you might need to get a heavy duty mounting tape.

I was able to get the contact sensors to work 30 feet with 2 walls for the signal to go through. The motion sensor seems to have lesser range.

How does the external PIR sensor compare to the sensor built into the Wyzecam v2? One problem I had with the wyzecam v2 is it didn’t always record when motion should have been detected.

The PIR sensor detects heat movement and the Wyze cam has “camera or pixel based detection” PIR sensors are more accurate in detecting motion that matters.

The adhesive on the door sensors are not that sticky. My magnet keeps on falling off.

Yes, I agree. I noticed one of my installs, the magnet fell off. I will be using a more durable mounting tape on it.

Pull the stick tape slowly off the magnet and place it on the wider side of the magnet. You'll find that it sticks better because there is less leverage being applied when oriented that direction.

The range is pretty good inside the house...but when the sensors are outside, they work but not reliably.

Wyze def needs to update their cams so they can be used on IFTTT etc to turn on off bulbs etc when motion is detected. I use the Alexa app to setup all my routines and such and not being able to use the wyze cam for this is a big con.

Hello Mr. LifeHackster. Have you tried Wyze products or any security systems with an android phone? Specifically SAMSUNG? I have been using Wyze since forever but noticed that notifications are pushed only when YOU WAKE-UP the phone from STANDBY MODE. I have whitelisted the apps from "doze mode" and have tried and contacted everyone regarding this matter: Samsung Customer service: said my device is broken. Samsung Representative at Best Buy: said, he doesnt have that problem. Google: pushing fault to Samsung saying that they tweak the Android UI. Wyze: pushing fault to Samsung/Android devices. Other KZbinrs: No reply. I have done some experiments myself using Samsung Note 9, and an extra phone, iPhone 8 Plus. , side by side. Turned off WiFi, using only cellular data. Locked the phones. Flipped the phone; screen faced down. I waited for 10mins. Walked by my camera 3x, 2mins apart. After a 1 minute recording, the iPhone alerted me right away 3x instantaneously. While Samsung, was silent; no alerts. I then picked-up the Samsung device, pushed the home button and that was the only time I was alerted, 3x times in a row (grouped notifications). Took a video of it too, but deleted it since it seemed hopeless. I do have pictures. Im asking because to me, the security of my home is at risk if my phone would only alert me after my house has already been robbed or burned down, just because I didn't wake-up my phone. Really wish you would see this.
