X Caddis (and few tying tips)

X Caddis is a well known and proven pattern that will catch any fish that feeds on surface with insects.... In this video i will present how to tie it. More importantly i will show few basic things that i dont see many people are doing.
Number one is thread control. Second is easy way how to make tapered trailing shuck and third is how to set wings with just a few turns of thread.
Its a great general caddis pattern but i would use it when some mayflies are emerging too...

Great tips again 🙂 I’m tying some black cdc flies at the moment with tailing shuck, would you use the same colour on black fly.?

Black wing and any body is fine... In serbia where i am from.... Black wing caddis has usually gren-black body.... Maybe that helps?

What tool is being used to rough and create the trailing shuck? Is it homemade?

Yes, homemade. I attached velcro on a piece of wood. Ice cream stick would work just as good.... If not better.
