I really miss this game. Loved it. I played the heck out of it going through 2 copies of X-com. Never played terror from the deep but it looks good.

I have a track I edited that combined Geoscape 3 & 4. I had to tweak the end, but otherwise the tracks match perfectly!

@F2bnp I've actually been meaning to play Extraterrestrials, i just haven't had the chance yet. The UFO series is a spiritual successor to XCOM, but as I was saying, it is the closest to a remake as I have played. But you're right, the combat system is very different since you're playing in real time, limited to only 7 people and you get objectives rather than kill occasionally. Of course, you also get sniper rifles and can aim for body parts in Aftershock. Heh heh. Easy kills.

@MPaans The fans expecting a remake is indeed part of the problem. About as close to a remake of the actual game I've seen is UFO: Aftermath, Aftershock and Afterlight. I personally enjoyed those immensely. If you haven't already, you should check them out... in that order. :)

@Cruiser052 Not really. The UFO series are great games on their own merits but their battle system is quite different, it just isn't X-COM. The closest to a remake is probably UFO Extraterrestrials.

@SportsCarsMarket Many have tried, most failed, some got close.. As for the rights.. according to wikipedia's X-COM page, these rights are now held by 2K games, and a new XCOM game is being developed.. let's see what they can make of it :) You may want to check out UFO: Extraterrestrials, btw.. A cool remake would be an XCOM tactical shooter like the Rainbow 6 games, but much better, of course ;) (with geoscape and research as well).. would be very eerie to walk around a UFO yourself!!

@Cruiser052 I did a bit of research. I stand by my previous statements.. (i may have posted at the e3 demo as well, i dunno).. part of the problem is that every time the fans expect a remake of the original.. Enforcer wasn't great, but I had fun with it.. I'm gonna give the new game a chance before bashing it tho.. Sure, it's just bioshock leftovers or something (and I don't think bioshock is that great!), but it might be a fun addition to the franchise!

@walmartian In todays age, XCOM could have the original game remade into an RTS game and be pretty beastly. Honestly, if they took the original game and updated the graphics it would sell. But yes, today it's all about graphics, multiplayer and crappy storylines. Give me a good plot and good gameplay any day.

@walmartian I don't agree with the wii/kinect/move being dumb shit. It might actually revolutionize gameplay.. once they stop making dumb shit for it ;) I miss the old days of games where people made pretty much anything they could, resulting in some awesome games.. these days there is too much money involved to do anything out of the ordinary.. no wonder I like 'indie' games ;) One of the best games to be released in the last few years is Plants vs Zombies, imo.. LOL.. kinda sad really..

@SportsCarsMarket remaking Xcom doesn't fit into to the trend of games today- dedicating all system resources to graphics with half ass control gimmicks and no game. The old art of game making has been lost or theyre scared that making an old school style game won't attract this phantom new audience that all game devs now target- noobs and senior citizens looking to exersize to dumb shit like kinnect and move while staring slack jawed at the "cool" graphics.

@MPaans For anyone who actually likes XCOM, the new game is going to be a complete travesty... It's something else with the XCOM name slapped on to sell it. Do a bit of research on it and you'll see. Also, enforcer is a fps... and it sucks imo.
