My all time favourite episode. Anyone who says DD can’t act, or is a lesser actor that GA on this show, should be forced to watch episodes like this because wow. Give the man something to do and he blows it out the park.

He uses a lot of emotion in his eyes more than his voice or his face and I think that mostly speaks volumes to the character Mulder himself. Mulder has a lot of emotion locked up inside almost all the time. The only time it comes out is when people he loves deeply are in danger or in this case, when he was being manipulated by stories of his sister. So when Mulder is in positions of distress he becomes sorta violent and visually erratic. But most of the other times in the show, David uses his eyes and subtle facial expressions to show Mulders emotions. It's just how the character is. Gillian is an amazing actress and displays it a LOT in the show, but that's because the character of Scully is obviously very openly emotional about a lot of things. If David had a character like Gillian who is sort of driven by her emotions, then I'm sure he'd have an opportunity to be seen as much of an amazing actor as Gillian is.

I love the way Scully is just trying to protect him from a manipulating child predator. She wants to punch him herself but the best she can do is just be there for Mulder and offer her comforting words of encouragement. Love it when Mulder goes all beast mode on him. Reminds me of his outburst in the hospital in One Breath....if he's nothing else he's passionate.....

Trivia: the little girl from mulder's dream, addie sparks, is jenny-lynn hutcheson who played polly turner in "chinga". Her mother said it was a very difficult scene to watch her daughter being "buried". Jenny still have the Chinga doll, that was a present of director Kim Manners. You can watch the whole interview with "Chinga" cast here in you tube. Candice your videos are amazing! Keep doing please. What about reviews of "christmas carol" and "emilly"?

This is one of the best episodes ever. I still remember first seeing it when it first aired like yesterday. Those dream sequences were outstanding. One thing that's never made sense to me, however, is how Mulder could have believed him at all after already encountering a horde of Samantha clones in previous episodes (Colony/End Game and Talitha Cumi/Herrenvolk)? That never made any sense to me. Still, a standout episode and one of the best ever.

I was watching this show as a kid and I got that the show was trying to be scary from early on, I'd seen the body count get racked up and monsters big and small come to devour people but this was the first episode, or the first in a long time that really made me feel something other than prime time horror or entertainment. I really felt sad for Mulder and I also felt sad that we live in a world with monsters like the killer. He wasn't paranormal and he didn't have any bizarre quips or gimmicks, he just killed little girls without any empathy and Mulder connected to him. In that void of feeling Mulder poured his own heart and his own loss of his sister, but it just ate him up inside. The series has depressing moments. Mulder in the church while the recording details his last moments with his sister. Scully hallucinating at deaths' door that she is in a boat that breaks free from its mooring and drifts away, the death of Clyde Bruckman but the final shot of Mulder tucking the last heart away in his drawer not knowing if it was his sister or some other lost girl who will never be found just crushed me. Great episode.

I love the part where Roche offers to lead Mulder to the last body. He says he just wants to see Mulder's face. Scully is off- camera, but you can hear her say "Oh, God." She is so offended on his behalf. Yeah, it sucks that Scully gets blamed for Mulder's shenanigans. This is how Mulder behaves under Scully's influence. Imagine how he'd act on his own.

7:32 The fact that Scully is female is what prompted Skinner to upbraid her. It has nothing to do with the fact that she was instructed to keep her partner from going off the rails, and she failed to do so. The probabilities that he wouldn't have let into a male agent who also failed in the exact same task are slim to none

@@CandiceHere also I found it strange when Scully tells Mulder that John Lee used the prisons internet to research Mulder's family history do prisoners get or allowed internet access in real life or was this something for the story . Also there was no Google in 1997 Google was invented in 1998 people back in the 90s probably used AOL America Online as a Search engine. And the internet in 1997 was not like today it was Dial up and slow and unlike today there wasn't many ways to easily find information like today

"Because of course we should blame the woman for the crime the man did" Scully always takes the brunt of the dumb stuff Mulder does. Yet, anytime she deviates from what others expect of her she is crucified. such a double standard. Love your reviews, you always get to the heart of the episode.
@rogwarrior2 жыл бұрын
Scully takes the brunt. Remember she is the glue that holds them together. Mulder is on his own agenda. He loves her but he will do anything to get the truth. Scully knows his pain, she has the same pain for Melissa. They assigned her to the X Files to shut him down. If "they" succeed they both lose. Scully is a true partner. She learned about loyalty, trust, and having your buddy's 6 from her father (high ranking Navy personnel). She doesn't mind taking the brunt, it keeps their partnership together.
