Seasons 1-5 were my fav because they were filmed in Vancouver

Totally agree - I was a big fan until end of Season 5, but then the show lost it's atmosphere. Something much creepier about dark forests than sunny deserts.

i had no idea that later episode was filmed in the infamous "roosters". In 94 or 95 ...maybe 96 ? there was a famous cliff hanger season finalle that took place in a large house . it was a stand off between mulder skully and skinner . that was filmed at an old mansion in Ocean park in Surrey BC . Right at the cul de sac at the top of 1001 steps at the end of 24th ave . My younger brother and i were outside of the filming area . Saw David Ducovney walking his dog and Jillian Anderson having a smoke break . Super cool to be there at the time . Wasnt alot of filing equipment in the street . A few trailers and little else other than one pink arrow sign . Awesome Vid by the way , just found your channel , looking forward to what you put up next .

Terrific job as always! There is a local book published quite a few years back that covered locations episode by episode. They really made great use of BC over the years.

The whole tone of the series changed after it left Vancouver :( Not fun to film in the rain, but it added so much to the atmosphere!

I remember seeing MacGyver being filmed at Deer Lake Park back in the day. We also knew a makeup artist that worked on the Highlander tv series :)

The Vibe of Vancouver really made the X-files and Mcguyver what it is today. Great scenery and vibe, no wonder they do so much filming there

There are so many great locations! I actually just went to Riverview and was going to do a whole video on it - so many movies and tv series have been filmed there. May also do an xfiles filming locations part 2 at some point!!

Clarification on the Grouse Skyride - they actually had two entirely separate aerial tramways up until just recently. The X-Files has the older blue tram with the smaller squarish cars.

Why did they move production to LA after the 5th season?

Famously, the production moved was moved to LA to accommodate David Duchovny who wanted to be closer to home and his wife. However, I prefer the first seasons because the atmosphere in the Pacific Northwest was much spookier!
