She has such "weight" to her acting, such gravatas. So much emotion behind the face, on the face, if she chooses. Not every actor can do that this well. I admire her for it and following her performances. Mitch did really well here, too.

I like Skinner's expression at 2:18 because he just KNOWS that the baby is Mulder's and he feels that he lost him. Nice little moment. GA does a pretty cry and her "I have to" about finding Mulder is my favorite part. She does such a quiet, dark delivery of that line and it makes it even more sobering with what comes next.

Mulder's gonna be a daddy but he's off with the aliens. my mouth fell open when this was revealed and made me miss Mulder so much more. Skinner is great here because you begin to see just how much Scully and Mulder mean to him.

Totally chocked on the feels. I've liked Skinner since that episode in like season 2 where he's like "fuck it! Opening the X-files again just to piss the peeps off." He's a pretty damned amazing character, and you can tell how much Mulder and Scully mean to him too.

Me too! Completely unexpected to me. I was hoping that Mulder maybe came back, to stay with Scully... Unfortunately, it was not so. And when I realized that Mulder was going to be gone for a long time, my heart broke. Partly because I would have missed him, partly because I felt so sorry for Scully.

I think this has to be one of the best performances I've seen on television. The timing, the chemistry, and subtlety is flawless. Gillian is one of few actors I've seen who can do the welling of the eyes or the one tear cry at the precise moment needed for the emotional climax of the scene. This is great work. I worked in the mainstream film & TV industry prior to a large neurosurgery. Now I teach film sometimes and when we get to determining what is good acting, I play some Scully scenes. Gillian is what I call an "eye actor" meaning all she needs is her eyes to convey emotion with no overdone movements, just eyes and lip curls.

Apparently the last two pages of the Requiem script (aka this scene) were not included in the script for almost the whole shoot. The cast and crew had no idea what was going to happen or if the show was even returning. There was also so much fear about it being leaked. Chris Carter actually didn't finish the scene until literally the day before it was shot. And he had a single copy delivered to the hospital it was being shot in at 10am the next day for the shoot to start at 4pm. Apparently all the cast and crew except Gillian Anderson were shocked by it. But she said that she knew that Scully's pregnancy was coming. Which I think is pretty cool. I like that she was the one that knew the character well enough to figure it out.

Yeah, she was happy about the baby. But I think that in that moment she was also so sad... She wanted a baby so she was happy, but she was sad becouse she couldn't have stayed with her baby's father. Mulder ❤️

Let's just say, the "paramasturbatory illusions" was on target. Mulder's gift was a videotape...lol. Scully's gift was a certain intimate item packaged in cylindrical casing, probably with batteries included. Use your imagination. I do have a request: the last scene in the episode, "Empedocles" from the 8th season. That's a big favorite of mine.

... nice moment for sure, but (sadly) it was the beginning of the 2nd worst plot thread of The X-Files. Chris Carter didn't know how to handle Scully being pregnant, didn't have any idea what to do once the baby was there, and then, nearly 2 decades later, completely botched the "reunion" between William and his parents. Horrible trash all around.

I would've loved for it to have ended in season 9. Mulder's last words being, "Maybe there's hope." While embracing Scully (the love of his life), everything would've been perfect, except for William's departure. For him to have both his biological father and mother in his life: loved every second of every day. Scully loved her miracle baby more than she loved herself. Mulder hardly had any interaction with him as a baby. He would've made an amazing father. That's the one upside down of the show. But I get why they wrote him off. You can't be on the run from the police: putting your baby's life in jeopardy. Weird enough, the loss of their child is what brought them closer together instead of further apart.
