I'm glad you guys talked about trades and hardcover sales and how a monthly Batman issue sells more than DC's yearly sales of Watchmen. I've seen jaded people who don't understand the industry say that DC should just do reprints and reruns of old stories, clearly not looking at numbers and the ripple effect of that

Benny's idea for the reading order numbering in the books was done in Superman during the "Triangle Era". It's helpful when collecting.

Update if not in the video: NYX will have Ms. Marvel, Laura Kinney, Anole, Prodigy, and one of The Cuckoos. For X-Force we will have Forge, Sage, Surge, Betsy Braddock, Rachael Summers, and Tank (who I think showed up in Miles Morales' book?) Deadpool will be in the first arc but there's a rotating spot with new characters each time, so he is only temporary. As to who's writing I forget, but I belive Pheonix has a team announced

Benny, if youre reading this, i just watched your video abiut Manga vs Comics and just wanted to say that you hit the nail on the head when you talked about the anime marketing that manga has. Would love if Marvel and DC did more stuff like that. DC animated movies is the best way imo, and given the success of X-Men 97, I hope Marvel sees the value in making animated content to bolster their comic sales.

You two are the smartest in comics on youtube so the analogy about the romance store makes sense. I understand now why Marvel and DC dont try to compete in bookstores as hard when they have comic book stores

The last 3 issues of amazing Spider-Man haven’t been that bad I’m hoping this green goblin and sinister six story will be good. Also do you think zeb wells will take a break from comics after this lol

Dc Finest = Marvel Epic Collections. Big soft covers at an affordable price, encompassing specific periods in time, published out of chronological order.

My problem with Alfred being the failsafe for Failsafe is how the hell is he the ONLY failsafe? Batman is the contingency guy. His contingencies have contingencies. He gave himself a backup personality just in case. You couldn't give the password to Dick as well? Or maybe Clark? Just one old man? What if Alfred is kidnapped, or comatose, or killed???

DC has put a stronger emphasis on continuity & history lately with the relaunch especially with the events. For example: Chip's run Green Lantern with Millenium event, United planets & the ring's color powers Green Arrow from all over, Roy's daughter, Parallax, heroes in crisis and Convergence too. Superman bringing back Lena Luthor & her connection to Brainiac, Imperiex, Rebirth JL Jeremy Adams's stuff i'm blanking and there's more too.

the problems with zdarsky's run on batman, is that there are two other batman runs that are doing what he's doing but better: detective comics/batman and robin. while the criticism of ram v's detective is that it's slow or "boring", i would say it's just deliberately paced but whatever, I would say it's slow because it's a psychological drama. the story has to slow down for these psychological story points to breath and not fast forwarded it for the superhero action. even in the psychological drama, for ram v's detective run, there is also an exploration of bruce's humanity. the ram v run on detective has a better understanding of the concepts that morrison introduced, or reintroduced, in their batman run. there are superhero action in detective comics by ram v, but it flows with the drama of the story - it doesn't feel out of place. On the other side you have Williamson's run on batman and robin, which is design to be a fast paced superhero action book and some sprinkling of character work with bruce and damian - not really trying to have psychological drama. Having said that, you can make this balance work, just look at scott snyder's run on batman. that run has the balance of trying to have psychological drama and the fast paced superhero action. it's just that zdarksy doesn't know how to make those two tonal ideas work in unison. I feel after tom king's run on batman, every other batman writer were/are trying to recapture the magic of scott snyder's batman run and not doing it - to it's fullest protentional.

I still waiting for Zur-En-Ar being the Batman from Batman: Ego, because I don't care for where it is going right and fun concept of critique of Brother Eye Batman pretty died out as it takes too long, while at very least tying it to Batman: Ego you can actually explore why Zur-En-Ar exists as a concept and what drives Bruce self destruction, because that's what made Daredevil and Punisher retcons in recent stories actually interesting, even Morrison Batman while got high concept, had this touch of humanity making it actually compelling.

One interesting thing that surprised me relating to manga that the One Piece manga has sold more copies than Batman and Spider-Man the only comic that has sold more copies is Superman I don't know if that is 100% true that's just what Google tells me but I think it's kind of cool that one piece has beaten Batman and Spider-Man and numbers of copies sold especially because of one piece is written by one man where there is countless writers for Batman and Spider-Man

Really wish DC would do there own version of the Ultimate Universe. It would be cool to see people like Mark Waid (his Batman/Superman run would be a great model to do it with), Tom King on Superman, AL Ewing, Ram V, Peach Momoko, Jason Aaron. Also they really need to let go of the older talent ex Tom taylor, chip zdarsky, James tynion, Tim seeley, Steve orlando etc. And hire some fresh new talent like Ram V and Peach Momoko

What I said was writers like him, who brings a unique writing skill and understands the characters, and doesn't unnecessary change these characters for no reason like taylor and zdarsky have done

Currently on Kindle in the UK we can not sub to a series meaning I have to go out of my way to track down my list and when the drop. dropping comixology has removed like 5 books from my monthly reading at least

That DC Finest is just the Marvel Epic line which cool and I'm all for it but Marvel does it too. They just don't promote it like they should

I get that there are a lot of booka of batman its hard to follow but then what about cute books like operation joker? Or even the middle ages one? Or the godzilla x kong x jl? Every once in a while there are good books with the same IP but different story and we still love them! For example, Naruto shippuden has 1 manga but there is also naruto and naruto shhippden the anime, rock lee chibi and also like 9 more movies who are ova but still fun and interesting. Also dont forget that batman runs for eons now, he has multiple movies. Demon slayer could end in like 3 years and that's it. The batman has much better longevity and that's why its not going to lose sales to manga individually at the end.
