@dirtandsilkk8 ай бұрын
The original wasn't aimed at kids....dude a member died in the first two episodes. Not everything animated is meant for kids
@bajansamurai8 ай бұрын
@@dirtandsilkk Being fully serious now, I can attest that back then "aimed at kids" did not mean "shy about the subject of death". Many cartoons had a death portrayed or implied back in the '80s and '90s, but what kept them kid friendly was that they didn't have a hyper violent portrayal of the deaths. It was aimed for the teen demographic mostly, with just enough restraint that younger children could still feel comfortable watching most of it. They styled many things to go over kids heads so they'd just be enamored with the pew pew and one liners. Gallons of blood, violent vaporization and thirst scenes were not part of those first seasons.
@dirtandsilkk8 ай бұрын
@bajansamurai again. Going back to the 60s, many animated series were not meant for kids. The lack of blood and violence were to adhere to the laws of the FCC. Shows like Hunter, A-Team, Knight Rider, New York Undercover, etc all were not meant for children but American TV laws prohibit use of tons of blood and violence. Childhood favorites like Flintstones and Jetsons were never meant for kids from sheer subject matter. Based off The Honeymooners and Dick van Dyke respectfully, these shows were based off real life scenarios like work,bills, raising kids and having them. But because of the fact that they were animated, Americans assumed they were for kids. They even featured the same laugh tracks found in the sitcoms.. so no. X-men were marketed to kids due to American views but were not meant for kids due to subject matter
@bajansamurai8 ай бұрын
@@dirtandsilkk That's an oversimplification of what happened back then. All of those shows were aimed at kids by the "protections" described. What made them transcend the limitations was the fact they could keep (or incorporate) adult themes that weren't obvious or cared about by the children too young to understand them. Jetsons, just as one example, had the presence or the kid and staple humanized pet dog to appeal to kids, but it was parent friendly by having the intertwined adult concerns (which comes down to recognizing parents sometimes had to sit through these cartoons anyway). The stigma also was that cartoons of these types were never seen as adult animation either, so no networks were creating them to pull in adult audiences as much as they were taking successful adult live action shows (e.g., A-Team) and extending their life cycle with a younger audience. This is network craft 101.

To be honest, I have a theory that the reason the Sentinel said omega level threat eliminated is because as the shield broke leech canceled out magnetos powers that way he wouldn’t die or be refinished by the scanners. I just have a feeling that Leech essentially sacrifice himself for who he saw as his savior, becoming magneto’s savior himself. If I wasn’t feeling “legitimately” sick, I was so heartbroken, I was tempted to use an an actual sick day after this episode. Wow. I am still heartbroken 😢

Can erg save morlocks and magneto with bs energy absorbtion? Erg is eue patch tall hair guy. Looking for more outs than cable groundhogs day which would be fun. Cable gets 5 minutes over and over to stop the massacre.

This episode took me by surprise. Genosha reminded of the Wakandan marketplace in the Black Panther movie. Seeing the very human emotional trysts of Jean, Scott and Madelyne, and Rogue, Magneto and Gambit play out was engaging. Scott having the telepathic emotional affair with Madelyne was crazy. Using the mental bond he has with her and Jean, when it's been so sacred in the comics...wow! The camoes have been bananas! They've been giving Dazzler a lot of shine. I was shocked at the ending. Gambit was bad a$$!

Like everyone else, I was not expecting all of this. Loved seeing Emma! And loved seeing Emma be Emma! Wonderful to see the mutant utopia, and it’s inevitable destruction. Could be a time travel,revision ahead. Hated seeing the big two seemingly go down as well as Shaw and Callisto. So many ways to bring them back- time travel, Apocalyose Horsemen, etc.

I’m a keep it a buck, I’ve been a little lukewarm on the series up to this point, but this episode right here hit all the right notes. I’m locked in strapped in for whatever is up next. This episode is the X-Men that I remember. Nothing felt rushed. It felt composed. Shit didn’t feel like it was coming out of left field. They hit on beats that they’ve been seeding during the first couple of episodes.

Real talk: Texted my friend 5 mins into the episode "Bro, I'm nerding out right now, Genosha is amazing! There are so many easter eggs and mutants!" Followed up with a text, "Knowing how this season has worked so far, the second half of this episode is going devestate me with how happy I am. LOL" Boy. Was I right. What an episode. Beau out here making sure I will always "Remember it"!
