After this episode I have some theories about the future of the series: 1) In the final episodes, it will be revealed that the big villain of this season, the one who send the Sentinel to destroy Genosha, is Bastion (who appear in one of Forge''s photos). 2) There will be a change in the team's line up, with the X-men recruting new members (my pitch: Nightcrawler, Forge, Colossus and Banshee's daughter) 3) After this tragedy and whatever will happen in the end of the season, Cyclops will become more extremist and willing to make questionable actions to protect mutantkind. 4) To make the X-men more pro-active, Scott will secretly create the X-Force, to act as black-ops group and do the shady stuff the X-men cannot do. Eventually the group's existence could be find out and this could lead to an adaptation of "schism", with the X-men now splitting up in two groups, one joins Scott and the X-force while the other will be lead by Storm (instead of Wolverine) and try to still live up to Xavier teachings.

I really appreciate how this episode fixed A LOT of the issues that plaqued Cyclops as a character in the comics and basically character assassinated him for about 20+ years. Instead of being a self-centered adulterer with Emma they instead made it still a mistake, but an understandable one. Both him and Jean have proper arguments, and this time Scott doesn't get used basically as a strawman who gets beaten up by everyone because the writers had it out for him. It also helped that we got a scene with Jean and Logan where she is shown to also not be perfect and getting caught by the moment. Bonuspoints for Logan not using the moment and acting like an adult here. Personally I think they might be trying to combine both Extinction with Avengers VS. X-Men, considering Scotts behavior in the interview really made it look like he is going down Magnetos more villainous path now after this tragedy (Plus the X-men are lacking now a "Magneto" so to speak, so the position would be open, too). It would explain why there are so many rumors about the avengers being slated to show up are circulating around, there might be some truth to them.
@hollandscottthomas8 ай бұрын
Yeah, framing him around the interview with the reporter where we could see that he was really starting to lose his grip on what he had believed did a HUGE job of making his position understandable. Honestly I don't even entirely feel like Cyclops was "wrong" here. This is an incredibly complicated situation full of weird, fraught emotions. He can't be certain of who he was married to and when, for how long. He can't be certain how Jean really feels about him now she's back, and how much of her feelings are real and how much are memories of the past. What he can be certain of is that Madelyn was the mother of his child, and they shared that joy and that trauma together. Of course he's going to want to keep seeing and interacting with her. Especially since they were talking about their son, that's something they can both relate to each other about. And I think having that scene come after his blow up in the interview makes it pretty clear that he reached out to her for support in that, so it's not just "an affair," it's far more emotional than that. And speaking of which, the interview. He definitely spoke from anger there, but at the same time a lot of what he said was true. He's kind of right to feel galled at having to go on TV and "prove" mutants should be allowed to live freely and equally with humans, after everything the X-men have done and are still doing. He put it in the harshest terms, and especially the end was particularly bitter, but I don't think the point he made was wrong.

Seeing the Watcher looking down like he did during the end of the Onslaught arc when all the nonmutant heroes were about to die, I knew it was about to pop off but I still wasn’t ready! Great ep in what has been a great run. Seeing the Genosha Massacre with a TriSentinel MasterMold instead of Cassandra Nova was a wild adaptation. TriSentinel being a goofy Loki machination that ended up being a foil for Spider-man of all people (and needing a mega team up of that particular era of early 90’s characters to deal with) was so WILD!

Its actually not trisentinel. Its the wild sentinel that attacked Genosha which had 3 heads as well. At one point it even used the same eye beam attack vs Gambit.

I personally don't think Magneto is dead. I think that Leech just disabled Magneto's powers so the Sentinel wouldn't be able to detect his mutant signature and therefore perceive him as being dead as a result of it's attack..

I am assuming that Cable’s warning, and the brief clip of him fighting Apocalypse in the intro sequence, means that four of the characters we saw die will be revived as Horsemen. Maybe give Callisto her super weird tentacle-arms secondary mutation for that. And Evil Gambit would be the exact right level of X-Men drama for Rogue, especially considering her choice this episode.

This episode and also ep2 in particular are incredible. Some pretty cool deep cuts with Gambit saving the Morlocks and kind of a Quiet Council in Genosha. I think what most viewers should do in cases like this is to make your own watching block like what Fox Kids/Disney Afternoon/Kids WB used to do when they were around: Make it an event for yourselves where right after you finish one show go straight to the next one. That way it’s less of a question of, “Which do I watch?” And more of “Which do I watch first?”

My only issue here is this. On Genosha in this episode you have at least 4 Omega Level Mutants. Magento, Jean, Maddie Pryor and Exodus. They should be able to make very short work of the Sentinels. Exodus alone has lifted the entire island of Genosha before. Exodus has gone toe to toe with Nate Grey who is almost as powerful as Dark Phoenix, he should be able to take out the Sentinels on his own easily. Now if these were Prime Sentinels I would understand because they can analyze and adapt to mutant powers much like The Borg in Star Trek, but these arent them. Now we're getting Bastion later on in the season so I'm sure we'll see them but my overall point is that if you put a Mutant like Exodus in the scenes you gotta explain why he doesn't just end the fight right away.
