So has Steve. He joined the army as soon as he was old enough, which was a teen. And, he has active for years before he was frozen. Started as a teen, and has had years more experience than Scott. I'm not saying who is the better tactician, but Scott has no meaningful edge there. Also, we can't just look on the side of the angels for best tactician. Gotta toss Apocalypse and Kang into the discussion as well. Kang has conquered backwards in time for a thousand years, and Apocalypse has been active for much longer..... thousands of years. In terms of sheer feats, they're really well represented. According to Apocalypse.... and I think it's true.... he caused the collapse of civilizations that ended the Bronze Age. That's a guy who knows what's up. I would say the advantage Scott and Steve there have isn't so much better tactical acumen, but vast wells of followers with wildly diverse skill and powersets. In other words, more versatile resources to pull from. A Generals are only as good as the armies at their command. Sorry. I know I went way beyond just responding to that. I just kinda got lost in thinking about this. lol

He was born Sept 28, 1922 in the comics and July 4, 1918 in the MCU and in both cases he doesn't get into the army before 1943. 21 or 25 by the time he got in, because he was rejected as infirm (4-F classification as unfit for military service) over and over. Not saying that just because Scott was training from a younger age that he's better than Cap with tactics, just that he was not in the military as a teen. This "new" status quo doesn't feel like a rebirth. It's simple regurgitation of the old format. Fall of X was always going to be a dark ending. It seems that Marvel always give the mutants a lacklustre ending. Krakoa was great until the end. But this new arc feels rushed, especially seeing as Krakoa had longevity to it. We'll see if the old format works.

@@juansanchez209 I mean, they're not taking the fun out for me. Discussing this stuff is fun for me, whether I agree or not. As for me, I want the Krakoan era to end, but I also want to see pushing the franchise forward into new ideas. For me, X-Men should always be fresh. I love Superman, but in over 50 years of my life, very little has changed. Some things, but the fundamentals always remain, are always returned to. For me, X-Men shouldn't be like that. It should always be pushing forward, evolving, mutating. "Mutatis mutandis". I am hopeful here. I do think at least some of the books are gonna build on what's come before. But, we'll see.

@@juansanchez209krakoa was just that awesome man, it just felt like the culmination of their entire history and made it all relevant. I wish they would’ve just kept building off it because I don’t see where they go from here that they haven’t gone before, but I’ve been reading comics for a few decades now, and I’m starting to feel that way about a lot of characters. I think Krakoa was peak X-men for me and I’m ready to put it down now. Just like Immortal Hulk or World War Hulk. Donny Cates Thor, Donny Cates Venom, Jonathan hickman’s fantastic fourSpider-Man renew your vows. Red Robin, Teen Titans, Batman, Flash Pre-New 52. Those stories were peak and anything after just feels like regression. After awhile you just want to see characters progress and grow, even age or reach and endpoint. It’s hard to get invested in anything when you know they’re just gonna tear it down or make it irrelevant. So, not in a sense of bitterness, but a sense of growth I think I’m ready to put the x-men down and end my time with the X-Men on a high note. Maybe I’m just outgrowing American comics

Couple thoughts: Betsy herself was an X-Force upper room tour guide while she was Psylocke so either version have no compunctions about slicing and dicing. Also, I've come to notice that Magik seems to consistently roll with Cyke, so it's been a nice piece of consistency with the OG New Mutants' bonds. Sam and Berto are pretty true to Mags and Cable; 'Yanna to Cyke; Doug to Prof X (cautiously); Rahne was to Havok for a spell but that hasn't been shown since X-Factor, so there's been her rapport with Mirage that's endured but been strained at times, and of course Mirage's friendship with Karma and their all around contention with Emma. ...and then there's the pretty forgotten Magma.

I feel like Krakoa is the 2nd attempt to build a mutant nation, but they NEVER prepared for the Genosha problem. A concentrated population of mutants gives hateful villains an easy target. The writing was on the wall the second that Magneto and Storm left to Mars, and if ever a third mutant nation is tried; there will need to be a hard look at how they avoid this cycle (both for characters and writers). That said, Krakoa was great. I’m sad to see it go but happier to lose it while it still had some meaning. I’m also happy to see that from ashes is not just doing ‘okay we’re back to the x-mansion now.’ I also feel like Cyke throwing Psylock and Juggernaut at remnants of Orchis is going to feel a little cathartic; so long as it’s not just Nimrod again.

I see so many people claim theyre tired of seeing Sentinels and mutant genocide and claim they should have moved on, but if you think like that your just not a fan of X-men and thats okay. Because the mutant metaphor still exists, even in todays society there are people being marganalised. And the fact Sentinels and mutant genocide still exist, doesnt seem unrealistic to me it just further proves that there will always be people afraid of change. The X-men will always have to fight for the right to live, which they should thats still their whole selling point, and specifically with the mutant problem (not talking about real bigots) you can somewhat see why they feel the way they do even as immoral and disgusting a view as it is. It still seems realistic the X-men face these situations and it still feels interesting a story to tell

We'll see the first issue. Cyclops has always been a leader/strategist for the X-men. Captain America is no slouch either. Logan respects both Cyclops and Captain America, people know Captain America's image of inspiring people (humans/mutants), Cyclops doesn't always draw in humans immediately because of the fear of mutant's negative publicity, which is odd, as when it was the teen cyke running around, people responded to the younger version better than the older one. In some ways, the new team up has some marginalized personalities that make them an oddball group. Kwannon was last used by the Krakoa council like a suicide squad. Temper (Oya) was part of the exiles in the pit with Sabretooth. Beast is a resurrected earlier Bouncing Boy Beast after struggling with the Evil Beast for mutants. Juggernaut the heavy hitter partner of Black Tom/Charles's stepbrother but reformed recently. Magik plagued by raised as a demoness in hell and periodically treated harshly during the fall of Krakoa. This team has heavy hitters plus Quentin Quire, who's ego and power as a psychic with Kwannon, gives mental power, physical powerhouse, intelligence, teleportation, thermal control and force beams. Plus, the mystical of Magik and a teen beast dabbling. It's a powerhouse team of heavy hitters.
