I think in Episodes 3 to 5, Jean explained she’s having to relearn her mastery over her powers again after she awoke from Sinister’s lab with fragmented memories. Jean has always been an incredible powerhouse. So I’m happy that they’re showing this and getting rid of her fainting and moaning/X-gasm running joke. In X-Men Evolution, Jean was incredibly useful, competent and very powerful, and didn’t faint or just moan and collapse. And that version was widely liked. So hopefully that carries over.

@@javiervjason4561Jean in only an Omega level telepath. Far more powerful than Xavier. Her telekinesis however, is Alpha level. Which I’ve always disliked. I prefer the idea that her telekinesis is Omega level too. Of course, with Phoenix, she becomes far, far, _far_ beyond Omega level. Ironically, “Phoenix” was originally simply just Jean with her powers at their maximum potential. It was all her own power. It was only retconned that “Phoenix” is a cosmic force that can possess people because the writers didn’t know how to bring Jean back to life after she died and have her not be responsible for galactic genocide.

I like that in the original cartoon, Cable was dismissive of Scott and Jean, and was not emotionally impacted by either of them, and in this episode it’s retroactively explained it’s because he knows Jean is not his mother. And he actively mourns Maddie, looking down and telling Jean (and himself) that “you’re not her” - referring to Jean.

While Maddie’s last moments were of her reuniting with her baby again, Cable’s had to relieve seeing his mother get killed time and time again. Poor guy. I don’t think the show will do anything so contrived, cliché and cheesy as time travel to fix things. To do so would undermine the seriousness of the attack, undermine the writing and storytelling of the show, and undo Gambit’s heroic sacrifice. There is no “happy ending” to this. It was a horrible tragedy that forever changed the X-Men comics. I’m certain the event will stick.

Though X-men does explain how A) captain America is out of the doomsday weapon and B) why does general Ross still have his rank of general and is not in prison. In the hulk cartoon Ross was exposed by Bruce, Betty, Rick Jones, and She Hulk as a hulk obsessed loon and was stripped of rank and locked up [probably in a prison he made for the hulk]

I feel like they're going to change his origin to justify Onslaught's inclusion, it would make sense that Bastion would want to use the psychic combination as a weapon against both mutants. Very symbolic. Onslaught is one of the biggest characters from the 90's they haven't covered yet, and seeing as they're remixing stories from 1995-2005 or so, I could see them doing this. Also I'm 100% sure they're going to change the team lineup to something more akin to the New X-Men or Astonishing X-Men team line-up (with a few changes).

I agree, they understand how to blend human politics seamlessly into a world full of aliens, robots, and superpowered people, and rather than shying away from the politics, they steer into it incorporating it into the plot and use it to drive the characters and their arcs forward. I love it!

A Storm is coming on the horizon and for that, the X-men are now getting prepared with the return of two of their most powerful members. In general, I love that every character is getting the protagonism they deserve, You don't feel like anyone is forgotten in the shadows. The Beauty of the show increases constantly giving us Moments to remind. This show is actually surprinsing me every day, it gets better and better, and it promises to take us to another level. We will be waiting for. As a kid I used to enjoy the show in a lower level because i couldnt get the whole meaning of the story, now, as a young adult I think I'm ready to appreciate the complexity of the comic.

Morph can take on the superhuman *physical* powers of the people they morph into. Super speed is a physical power. They wouldn't be able to shoot optic blasts if they turned into Cyclops or control the weather if they turned into Storm. Also, Onslaught is not a sentinel. He's a sentient psionic entity created from the consciousness of Magneto and Professor X. Magneto's anger, grief, and lust for vengeance had entered Professor Xavier's consciousness; commingling with every long-suppressed negative feeling the professor had endured throughout his life that resulted in a separate personality forming within Professor Xavier.

This show just keeps getting better and better! What an episode! "Bright Eyes" as an episode was fantastic, but now I'm super excited to see how this story continues going into the three-part finale! This finale arc for season one is titled "Tolerance is Extinction." I'm SO damn hyped for this ending to season one because the creative team said this is the BEST part of season 1, and this show has already been masterful so I just can't wait to dive head first into this three-part finale! Rogue was obviously a highlight this episode along with Cyclops and his interactions with the rest of the team after what happened in Genosha. Seeing the X-Men family so broken after the death of Gambit is some really powerful emotional stuff. Especially everything with Rouge. My heart aches for her because she's lost so much at this point. Her old family, her loves, her dreams, and her stability now that the X-Men are also emotionally destroyed. That scene where they comforted Rogue in Mexico genuinely made me tear up. I love this family. This is why the X-Men is my favorite comic book team. This show is just incredible because it knows how to convey everything the team/the world is feeling perfectly through our favorite characters. This is just incredible writing with this character work in this incredible show! This is Marvel at its absolute best! 9/10 episode this week! With another banger X-Men 97 episode and the Deadpool and the trailer, I think it's safe to say that it's been an awesome week for X-Men fans!

Rogue smashing the ground had to do with her strength. She never permanently absorbed Avalanches powers. Also, her and Captain America were on the Uncanny Avengers together which they hinted at a lot in their conversation. Seems like we’re going towards Zero Tolerance more than Messiah Complex

It's wild how are you completely glossed over the conversation that Beast had with Trish. It's not just them blossoming romance. He goes into detail on his thoughts on protest as necessary, how her words of respectability politics and not causing the humans to fear is seen by Beast as tacit agreement that humans would never be accepted, only tolerated, which again thematically leads into the three part finally. It even may have given some characterization to Beast growing a little dark and jaded like Cyclops is. So yea thematically that was a very important convo that you sorta just handwaved, lol

Cyclops was talking to President Kelly. Amelia and Trish were voiced by the same actress. Savage Land mutates were helping who happened to work for Sinister in the original series. Like Barbarus not Forearm. You also see Brainchild. Captain America was voiced by Josh Keaton who voiced Steve Rodgers in What If. 10:30 I like when characters hv a secondary ability to help them stand out from other characters w/ similar abilities lol, i.e.: * Emma Frost - diamond form & telepathy * Jean Grey - telepathy & telekinesis * Wolverine - claws & regenerative healing * Nightcrawler - teleportation & wall crawling + prehensile tail * Psylocke - telekinetic constructs & telepathy * Callisto - superspeed & X-factor detection * Sue Storm - invisibility & force field generation, etc. I also like when they hv a unique physical appearance (i.e. Beast, Mystique, Nightcrawler, Storm, Blink, etc).

The whole Purple People eater of it all was a surprise, but a welcome one. Rogue was straight-up boss in this episode. Loved seeing that she was willing to kill Trask and didn't take any shit from Cap. When she threw his shield, I cheered out loud, lol. This show just keeps getting better and better. Oh, and POTUS talking to Cyclops about "optics" was just spot on.
