Went back and watched “One Man’s Worth pt 1&2” per DeMayo’s advice. I’m stressed out and even though the colors were palette swapped they absolutely showed an Avengers vs X-Men scenario back in the 90s.

In the original show, Apocalypse created the Legacy Virus and he used the Friends of Humanity to spread it while blaming it on the mutants. And Apocalypse has tried to get humans and mutants to fight and wipe each other out so he can rebuild the world from the ashes. So I think Apocalypse is the secret villain and they're going to set up Age of Apocalypse for season 2.

Right now the mutants r pissed and wanted justice meanwhile the humans & governments know they have defend themselves from mutants. If the humans r okay with fighting mutants it allows legal and full authorization for programs like the sentinels which allows him to prime sentinel the entire earth population. He’s going to turn Magneto into a prime sentinel puppet so that he can use him spearhead the mutant call for violent revenge for Genosha

I agree about the scripts and animation being more locked in. That makes it more like their source material of comics. The artists are drawing panels based on the script and dialogue that exists already. If the artist feels it’s clunky or hard to get across, an edit or agreement is reached prior to going forward. THAT is the biggest difference in it being more of a comic book feel. The artists can draw the animation as a panel set up then set it in motion. They can do so creatively due to a tight script operating in heavy time constraints. Just a thought

Fun odd theory: When the 'Godzilla'-Sentinel states "Omega Lvl Mutant", maybe it was not referring to Magneto for it had targeted him already. Perhaps it was referring to Leech, who at that point hadn't been detected before. Maybe in relation to Leech's 'power suppressing' abilities and how that might play a part.

The movies usually have one focus and tone where the stories and cartoons will have different things going on sometimes they'll have something so random that it makes no sense. MCU has to make writing, creativity and appreciation for the genre to stick to the storyline and stop making changes for the hell of it

Magneto = Supreme Sentinel. From "Engines of Destruction" X-Men Annual comic, 1998. Machine Man was Bastion's original plan, but I think they'll adapt it to be Magneto. SCARY.

As a kid I was obsessed with Cable. He was always one of my favorite mutant characters! I’ve got a sketch book from back then when I loved to draw my favorite comic characters and he is in many of them. Damn, the nostalgia from this series is like a drug for me! I’d love to be a fly on the wall in my living room every Saturday morning as I watched this show. XMen 97 was made for me and I love it!

I have a possible theory. Storm will be the one to fight off the Prime Sentinel for the time being. As her power is directly linked to electromagnetic fields dealing with electricity/lighting. And the only one currently powerful enough to fend them off. Cable neutralized the Prime Sentinel with an EMP grenade.... We saw Storm and Magneto create an electromagnetic charged cage in ep 2. A conduit of electrical and magnetized power. The combination between Storm and Magneto abilities will help the X-Men defeat the Prime Sentinels and Bastion. I know Magento is captured right now... but I also think he will take this time to learn Bastion's weakness seeing he cannot do anything else. However in time his will power will be strong enough to fight Bastion hold on him... By doing so Storm and Magneto will be able to trap Bastion by combining their powers together again, like they did in ep 2. I think that is why we saw them do that in ep. 2. It was foreshadowing how Bastion & the Prime Sentinel's will be defeated (for the time being) It will be done by combining both Storm & Magneto's power along with Cable's knowledge of the future. That's my guess anyway...

One of my favorite stories was when the New Mutants got Doug Ramsey killed and then Magneto had to call his parents and tell them their son who was sent to the school he was head master at for an education was dead. The show needs to have students at the Institute. Also Doug's powers are totally awesome. You could make an entire show on Fox around it.

I wonder if a live action franchise is even necessary. X-Men maybe works best as a tv series where you could have a solid mix of episodic episodes and soap opera serialization. Visually you can do anything in animation and I think generally speaking the reason why X-Men 97 works over the MCU shows is that it’s designed to be a tv show and not a 10 hour movie.

I think every franchise has its “Batman Begins/Dark Knight” adaptation where some aspects of the source material are adapted for the first time and it causes a group of people who didn’t really care initially to collectively turn and say “you’re telling me we could have had it this good this whole time?!” Which is interesting to me because the content was always there for consumption, but I get it: not everyone is a free time millionaire.

The marvel 40 years sets are great places to start for foundations. There was Amazing Spiderman, Fantastic Four, X-men and I think spectacular spiderman was released later ( oh and 40 years of Avengers). Took me just over a month of daily reading on the train to get through each one. It was also great to read the letters to the editor.

Watching X-men 97 and the original series definitely brings me back to X-men writer Chris Claremont - the influence in tone, characterization and plot progression is seen throughout - although I wasn’t a hardcore fan growing up, his stories in the X-men laid the groundwork especially his run with artist John Byrne for the explosive popularity in the late 80’s. Although not needed it will help any fan contextualize the current animated series making it much more enjoyable - great coverage as usual.

A lot of ppl are saying Onslaught but I would be shocked if they brought in that element so late in the season. If Bastion forces Magneto to initiate a war with humanity (and a confrontation w/ Xavier), they could set that up for season 2. I think Bastion has infected most of the UN/Military with prime sentinel technology and he’ll activate it using radio waves. Cooper will be exposed as Mystique, who has somehow sabotaged the process. Cable and Bishop help defeat Bastion but screw up the timeline even further. The Avengers show up late, clean up the sentinel remains and take the credit for saving humanity 🔮🧐

Yes, I thought the same thing after Sinister being the one to give cable the virus and then after seeing Gambit die. This seems to be the result of Apocalypse not having existed in this timeline. They will need to bring him back in order to defeat Bastion. Gambit will become death.

I think Apocalypse is behind everything to an extent or at the very least watching it all unfold. He was always calculated - even to the point where once his physical body was destroyed he had a backup plan and temple to have his astral form return and into Cortez body (whose power is to amplify mutant abilities no less).
