@lirpa23004 ай бұрын
A couple of reasons, the main reason was plot point. Someone from the young group had to die in order to raise the stakes of the movie and push Magneto to convince Charles to train them to fight. Second, i don't know if Darwin can absorb powers like Rogue or absorb energy like Shaw. Darwin surviving that would have made him OP, because not only would he have absorbed Alex's powers but also Shaw's powers. Also, Darwin was young so I doubt he knew his full potential powers anyway because the majority of the group had to be trained, heck even Charles had to help Magneto learn how to use his powers.
@mizrolist4 ай бұрын
@@lirpa2300 He can do neither. His literal power is adaptation. One time in the comics he went against a raging Hulk - and it was the Worldbreaker in World War Hulk. For me, Charles Xavier is the illogical one. In his dissertation, Xavier predicts conflict between Mutants and non-Mutants. Yet we repeatedly see him, both in the Comics and the Movies only teaming up with fellow mutants when extermination is imminent. Other than that, he is inevitably opposing Mutants. I'm not sure where or who wrote the line, but when Mystique says, "I always thought it would be you and I against the World - but, no matter how bad it gets, you don't want to be against the World", she perfectly captures Charles Xavier's character, even if the cost is dead Mutants, or even Mutant extermination. On the beach, Charles does NOTHING to prevent the attack, literally nothing. He seems willing to accept extermination, both for himself and for his "Team". He's OK with that, but NEVER with Magneto fighting back? I have real issues with Charles Xavier's "governing philosophy"....

I've said this in other reactions of this movie, they did Emma Frost dirty in this. In the comics, especially the comics of the last 30 years, she's a baaaad bitch. Not this supplicant, meek, arm candy that she is in this movie. This isn't the "first class" as in the first class of students in the comics (notwithstanding any retcons, although I don't even know if First Class the comic was intended to even be a retcon). Xavier's first class, as in when the comic debuted in 63' consisted of Cyclops, Jean (Marvel Girl), Beast, Angel and Iceman. As far as the animated series (which I grew up with, loved and started me collecting comics in force at the age of 12 when the first season came out), it does a fine job of adapting stories from the comics, they are still adaptations and there are still many differences from the source material. The Dark Phoenix saga has been attempted to be adapted in two of the films (X-Men 3 and Dark Phoenix), both failed miserably; the best adaptation is still in the animated series. I will say the animation is very hit and miss and quite choppy for lack of a better word. The less than perfect animation is to be expected for an early-mid 90's animated tv series with high turnover and a small budget. It can be quite jarring for someone unfamiliar with its style. The current X-Men 97' on D+ continues right where the animated series left off and is really good and looks fantastic.

39:37 Mark! 28K Views + Mine! 😎 2.5K Thumbs Up + Mine! 👍 You're welcome, and thanks! 😊 Notes: Oh! I hope that those not shown in your list were seen are on their own by you! 😊 Emma Frost, and the other gals with sexy costumes, their fashions are difficult for the comic book teams to keep up with, in that often times real fashions out pace them! For example in an issue of one the the "Archie Comics" Archie Andrew's was admiring Betty & Veronica as the girls were wearing French String Bikinies and he told his buddies something like if that's what they wear now, imagine how much smaller they will be in the Future, as he predicted the advent of the Thong and Tonga swimwear for girls. (Japanese men and other Pacific Islanders wore the Tonga first, by the way!) Well, some years back now, on her talk show, Ellen, would bring out the latest swimsuit fashions for girls and women each season. The last time I saw her do that she brought out what she called "strips" as every season some scoff and think she's joking about how much smaller they are getting to be thanks to pubic hair removal! Even the taller blonde game show hostess looked at a picture of Brooklyn Decker and commented about the "Bikini line" saying that there must be a lot of shaving or waxing going on! So the comic book artist, I think gave-up with trying to be avant guard and original, and just imitate whatever they can get away with. As it turns out, sometimes the comics and movies inspire fashions in our world. 😮

It’s been said a bunch about the continuity of the X-Men movie being all over the place. The First Class movies aren’t related to the original movies and vise versa. Also, very different from the comics. The Professor X/Mystique relationship is not from the comics. It was made up for the movies. Along with so many other changes they made which limited so much of the potential for the X-Men films, IMO. They’re so different from the original content. The Fox execs didn’t seem to care very much about the content and just cranked out a bunch films. With the exception of a few of the films most were let downs for the most part. Must being decent to good but not great.

I believe Charles and Mystique’s history is largely made up for this movie In the comics, Azazel used to be the father of Nightcrawler. Until the recent retcon that Mystique just mimicked his genetics (from having an affair with him) when making a baby with her female lover Destiny Charles is definitely a powerful mutant, but he has limits, and the most powerful (omega levels) don’t have foreseeable limits, like Magneto Oh yeah, you didn’t watch 3, so you didn’t see Kelsey Grammer as Hank/Beast Cyclops’ real name is Scott Summers. Havock is Alex Summers. Hmm. 🤔 The lead need not be buried if you don’t intend to watch the other films 26:14 Wait, what? Where are you getting that from? “They’re just following orders” he says to a holocaust survivor 😓 In addition to other details, Charles getting paralyzed this young should signify that this isn’t strictly adhering to the earlier films, since there’s flashbacks in some of those of him walking while he’s Patrick Stewart Don’t know if you caught it but one of the CIA men was William Stryker _Sr._ His son is the one who gives Logan the adamantium Wait, you’re doing The Wolverine on your own. Did you do that for Last Stand and Wolverine Origins?

These movies were great, but they took a lot of liberties with the actual storyline they are adapting. Mystique did not grow up with Charles. You need to know that storylines in comics aren't set in stone or consistent. Various writers over the years change things up. When a movie based on a comic is made, they just take bits and pieces or just change things up to suit the movie.
@jessecortez94494 ай бұрын
And then the comics change things up to fit with the movies. They attempt to capture new readers that enjoyed the movies but it barely makes much of a bump in readership. It gets frustrating for long time readers as well. Changing canon and lore has become much more frequent in recent years which makes it difficult to stay invested in stories and characters.

Hey don't watch The Wolverine without watching X3 ! Major continuity break.

As far as I know, *Mystique* and *Professor X* growing up together was just for this film. (perhaps a subsequent comic book run afterwards). But you'll find that within each movie, TV series and even within the comics themselves, origins and relationships rarely stay consistent. 😏 I also recommend *_'Go'_* (1999), and *_'Two Days in the Valley'_* (1996). *My general recommendations:* *_• Spy Game_* (2001) with *Brad Pitt* and *Robert Redford.* *_• The Fisher King_* (1991) Directed by *_Terry Gilliam,_* with *_Robin Williams_* & *_Jeff Bridges._* *_• The Quick and the Dead_* (1995) starring *_Leonardo DiCaprio, Russell Crowe, Sharon Stone_* and *_Gene Hackman_* is another Western worthy watching IMO. *_•The Mexican,_* (2001) Highly recommend. Starring *Brad Pitt, Julia Roberts* and *James Gandolfini.* Truly delightful. *_I think you'll love it!_* Be well! 🙋🏼♂️ ··•●✺●•·· ¹ ─ Co-writer of the _Star Wars_ films _The Empire Strikes Back_ (1980), _Return of the Jedi_ (1983), and _The Force Awakens_ (2015). He also co-wrote _Raiders of the Lost Ark_ (1981).

34:04 "But unfortunately, you killed my mother." I think he also bears part of the blame for the death of Magneto's father.

If you haven’t seen “Footloose” yet, you should. It’s Kevin Bacon’s greatest movie. Blaze a Christmas splif while you watch.

I've been saving this because I FUCKING LOVE THIS MOVIE 👏M👏A👏G👏N👏E👏T👏O👏'👏S 👏V👏E👏N👏G👏E👏A👏N👏C👏E AND YEAH! The X-Men cartoon and sequel are GREAT! It inspired a LOT of the comic book stuff we have today. It turned nerdy unrealistic comics that were previously unadaptable into something that people enjoyed and could imagine on the big screen. Jen's so sweet and colorful, I hope she gets a Skittles sponsorship and can buy a CIA base for herself!

Probably my favorite X-Men film. Unfortunately the remaining films are progressively worse.

There was an intention to do 2 Origins movies, Wolverine & Magneto, but Wolverine didn't chart too well, so the Magneto one didn't happen. It kinda happened here instead. The Mystique / Xavier growing up together was only in these movies, not the comics.

In the beach scene, there were TWO Deliberate attacks on the Mutants by "Humans". First those on the ships attempted to blow them into very small pieces. THEN Moira McTaggart, acting from EXACTLY the same impulse, attempted to shoot them. What exactly was Magneto supposed to do? Let her Murder Him? Or maybe he should have let the shells blow ALL the Mutants to death? Magneto was right. Moira McTaggart, the agent for those attempting to shell the beach, was DIRECTLY responsible for the paralysing of Charles Xavier. She'd seen what Magneto did to shells; she KNEW he could deflect bullets; but she still opened fire, uncaring as to who might be injured. McTaggart was responsible for Charles ending up in a wheelchair, NOT Magneto...

Consider reacting to the 2008 graphic novel action movie "Wanted" starring James McAvoy, Angelina Jolie, Morgan Freeman, and Chris Pratt.

0:03 X-Men 97 has been amazing so I think people would 100% be for that. Personally X-Men 97 has been the best Marvel project since Infinity War.

Raven and Charles growing up together and their relationship was all made for the movie. It's not comic accurate as time of that movie being made. They might have retconned it after the movie, I don't know.

I always thought it was funny that Kevin Bacon is speaking German at the beginning of this. Bryan Singer's previous film, "Valkyrie", was almost universally panned, in large part because Tom Cruise played a Nazi but didn't even attempt a German accent. It was like taking the guy from "Cocktail" and putting him in an SS uniform. Also, between Rebecca Romijn and Jennifer Lawrence, my favorite Mystique is the young and innocent one who first meets Professor X at the beginning of this movie. The only thing more adorable was that Rebecca Romijn - who was a very famous supermodel - married Jerry O'Connell right around the time this came out. Jerry O'Connell played Vern in Stand by Me. It was such a strange timeline that "the fat kid" in such a classic movie grew up to marry one of the most famous supermodels on the planet. If you want to see another side of Michael Fassbender, consider watching "Frank" from 2014. He gives an amazing performance, despite wearing a giant paper mâché head for most of the film. Everybody loved the film 10 years ago when it came out, but it seems like it's all but forgotten. Might be worth putting on one of your lists.

Hilariously Michael Fassbender who plays young Magnetic and Jane Mcavoy who plays young Charles have a similar friendship to Patrick Stewart and Ian Mckellen. Mcavoy and Fassbender meet working on Hand of brothers and have been friends since rhen.

X-Men: First Class is.....first class, it is an X-Cellent movie. The start of the imo the best series of X-Men movies. Can't wait to see what you think of Apocalypse and Dark Phoenix, two of the more polarizing movies for sure
