Now you have context for Deadpool (2015) when Deadpool said "MacAvoy or Stewart?" when Colossus is dragging him away in handcuffs to see Professor X. That's Deadpool's OTHER mutant power besides healing. The mutant ability to break the 4th wall. In the comics, the other characters look at Deadpool like he's insane when Deadpool breaks the 4th wall.
@RustyDust1017 ай бұрын
Because Deadpool KNOWS, not suspects, but truly, utterly KNOWS that he is a character in a comic. But that also drove him completely insane and unpredictable as he doesn't even know himself what he will do as he is at the whim of the comic's authors, who also often change. So he's often himself astonished at what he just did. Which makes him also immune to being cognitively predicted by heros or villains with precognitive abilities. They find themselves stumped to be unable to see his future as it is rapidly changing and mutating due to this insanity and whimsical nature of the authors. In essence, it makes Deadpool the ultimate superhero as he is not only able to sometimes see through the 4th wall, but even break into the reality of the author and change the story by even killing of the authors in the comics, which then changes his story... ooooowwww, my head hurts...

Since the next movie takes place 10 years later I like to imagine (and it fits with the timeline) that Mystique and Azazel got close while traveling around the world in Magneto's little brotherhood after this movie. At some point, Mystique got pregnant, but, given her lifestyle at the time of being an international terrorist, she probably rightly decided she wouldn't make a good mother, and abandoned the child at the doorway of some German cathedral. Nightcrawler then would have been raised by clergy, and Mystique would have had no idea that it was her son she was encountering in the later movies. But... when she sees a photo of Azazel in the next movie and gets emotional... that scene makes more sense with this backstory filled in.

X-Men debuted 60 years ago. Without a doubt, it's among the most legendary of Marvel Comics. But to tell the backstory of these characters within in the film franchise was a great idea. Because in this universe, they've been around just as long. Matthew Vaughn (Layer Cake, Kick-A**, Kingsman) helmed this one. Casting of the characters was great especially with McAvoy as Xavier and Fassbender as Lensherr. The building of the past for Children of the Atom with history we already know in the 20th century. Putting the Hellfiire Club on screen had been in early drafts of the first X-Men film in the 90s. Kevin Bacon as Sebastian Shaw (cold and calculating) and January Jones aa Emma Frost (superhot) were perfect too. Part of a summer full of multiple Marvel movies along with Marvel Studios' Thor and Captain America:The First Avenger. Even with the newer MCU at the time, the X-Universe on film could stand toe to toe. Your gonna love the follow up to X-Men First Class. Believe me, it will be a union and reunion to remember.

The reasoning, is when she shifts she doesnt just take their appearance, she genetically changes into that person to an extent, hence why she gets some of their abilities when she shifts as well. Rumor is that this was the original intent and backstory the writers wanted in the first place but it was too controversial at the time. They felt now people had progressed enough to let the original intent be published. So technically the "original" was already a retcon of the writers first draft.

I will admit that I'm sad we couldn't get an X-Men 1960s film following the original roster: Cyclops, Jean as Marvel Girl, Angel, Iceman, and Beast fighting against a young Magneto and his Brotherhood of Mutants. It makes sense for timeline reasons; all of these characters beyond Beast would've been kids during the 60s, or in the case of Iceman and Angel, were not born by the 1960s. I feel like this would've worked as a great TV series with flashbacks to whenever Charles and Erik met during the 1950s within a psychiatric hospital for Holocaust victims. Fighting Hydra and revealing that they both had Mutant abilities, then going separate ways after realising their goals did not match. But seeing Magneto as a vital part of the First Class of Mutants, along with the formation of the X-Men in this film, was a cool spin on what we know about the origins of Magneto. There isn't another rendition of the character that was a vital member of the early X-Men, thanks to Charles and Erik meeting a good decade before the X-Men were a thing. This film basically combines the meeting of Charles and Erik into the formation of the X-Men, bringing these events together as one.

You can't condemn his mutant push without condemning the push from mundanes first,, and if he's a villain for his actions, not only does that make all mundanes villains also, how much WORSE villains are we since we started it??

when Charles is explaining to Erick that his strength is somewhere between anger and serenity, its actually because the key to him being stronger is in how Electricity works. The original movies don't hint at Charles and Mystique because it's not from the comics and was not an idea that was made up until the writing of this movie. Its one of the major hitches in the continuity because it doesn't line up with the original movies.
@nooneofconsequence12517 ай бұрын
how does it not line up? I mean, I'm not going to dispute that there are many major plot holes and continuity errors in the X-Men films... but... this doesn't really seem to be one of them. Just because you were friends with someone decades ago doesn't mean that you're going to be chummy forever. And... Mystique and Charles don't even interact with each other in the first three X-Men movies. I don't think they're ever even in the same room together. And I'm sure they never say anything at all about Mystique's backstory in the older films other than her once recalling that her own parents tried to kill her... which... lines up perfectly with this film as she is introduced as a child on her own scavenging for food.

I agree. Though, the more I watch this film the more it has grown on me... the first time I watched it it just felt very rushed at the end there moving Magneto and Charles, etc, into position to be the characters that they became in later films. My initial reaction was wishing that they didn't rush this and had spent at least another film exploring the developing relationship.... but.... that being said.... I would hate to lose the last few epic scenes on the beach between Eric and Charles... and that end scene with "I prefer Magneto".... chills every time... plus, the next movie, Days of Future Past, is hands down the best X film so... maybe it's better that they did it they way that they did. Another thing that I think everyone wished for after seeing this was that they had not canceled the planned Magneto Origins movie... they could have easily stretched out the Michael Fassbender: Mutant Nazi Hunter story thread into a full length film and that would have been amazing. Too bad... missed opportunity... unfortunate that the Origins: Wolverine movie sucked so much...

It’s interesting to see that Erik had only been able to use his powers when he focused on negative emotions like anger. However, after meeting Charles he realized he could also use positive emotions from happier times in his youth. In a way, it’s almost like learning how to use the Force. Overall, James McAvoy and Michael Fassbender did a fantastic job portraying the younger versions of Charles and Erik. They did their best to portray two characters that Sir Patrick Stewart and Sir lan McKellen had already established. Both Charles and Erik delivered good arguments, especially when they were playing chess for the first time (which is also a callback to the end of the first movie). Neither side is entirely right or wrong. It almost feels like Steve and Tony in Civil War. There are humans who would accept them and be more than willing to coexist, but there are also many who would fear and oppose them. Darwin’s nickname is based on the theory of evolution called Darwinism which English naturalist Charles Darwin took part in establishing. Lucas Till always wanted to portray a superhero, but he jokingly said he didn’t want to portray Beast because he didn’t want to go through all that makeup. Lucas instead got Alex Summers/Havok while Nicolas Hoult ended up getting Hank McCoy/Beast. This movie was directed by Matthew Vaughn. He also worked on the Kick-Ass and Kingsman movies. In fact, after this Matthew would go on to direct the first Kingsman movie The Secret Service which I recommend. Up next is The Wolverine 2013 followed by X-Men: Days of Future Past. I’m letting you know ahead of time that both of them have extended editions. You’d have to rent them both, but you’ll benefit from getting more out of them especially with the extended edition of Days of Future Past. That one delves further into the story.
