This is a great pic for a character. I always loved Tommy’s design. She looks like a Holi Disco Queen.

Tommy is one of the more "visually interesting" characters. Just appearing in the background or in a mass of other mutants, her design stands out & adds that instant "pop" of variety. That's probably why she appeared so much throughout XmenTAS despite not having a bigger presence in the comics at the time. I like Tommy; she lowkey reminds me of a missing member of Jem & the Holograms

Same with the Morlock Berserker: guy with mohawk and piercings shooting electricity and then dying by getting fried by his won powers. He appeared in like 5 panels but multiple cartoons have chosen to include him as part of the X-Men proper.

I liked her character when I saw her on the animated series. Her character design was so different from everyone elses it would of been cool if she had another ability like changing her form into a different element or something.

Great video, Scott. Tommy left an impression on me because her first/only appearance was quite dark and it was actually the first X-Men comic I ever read (my brother bought it off the spinner rack at a Green Gables convenience store). I had no idea the character appeared anyway else afterwards so I’m glad to hear she’s back. I think she has a ton of potential. I have a question though, do we know why she had a hellfire club boyfriend? What’s the deal there?

It’s a bit unfair to call Tommy a coward for abandoning Richard. She just watched him get shot and knew she would be next. Sometimes the best thing you can do is live so that you can go seek help or at the very least inform others. She’s not a coward for running away; she’s realistic for making the same decision any one of us would have made. I’d like to see her in action defending Krakoa.

I loved Tommy from the moment she first appeared...and died..in the comics. That hair is what made her so memorable. I would love it if Marvel would do a series where we follow really minor mutant characters on Krakoa. Call it something like Tales of Krakoa and wtite it in the manner of the old Marvel Team-Up series where characters come in and out of the series. I want to see more of Tommy..and Erg..and the 'Limbo babies'... and Artie Maddox.. Purple Girl...Tower..etc.

I figured Tommy to be in her mid to late teens and a runaway to boot. She's no hero. The Marauders on the other hand are a trained superpowered strike team (TEAM...!) who (later) handed the X-men their asses. They're INTIMIDATING. When faced with such opposition you RUN, not because you're a coward, but because its the SMART thing to do. Retreat is a viable strategic option - sometimes the only option. What was she supposed to do? Fight the Marauders by herself? THAT would've been STUPID.

Tommy! Thanks for making a video on this peripheral character. I loved when she was in Inferno #1 as an X-Force member. I hope we see more of Tommy in X-Force. I do hope that the comics adds camouflage as her secondary mutant power as they did on the show.

Who I would love to see resurrected are the two kids that were murdered in the opening of God Loves, Man Kills. Also it would be great if Magneto adopted them! Of course the parents would be resurrected too, seeing they were also mutants, but the graphic novel picked up after they were murdered. I would have the parents chose to wait to come back but be encouraged to live and pass through the Elysium field that the Scarlet Witch created. I would flashback their deaths and of the funeral shrine that Magneto made for them. Have that scene dissolve as the kids walk through and they are greeted by Eric as he falls to his knees with tears and hugs them. Okay, I’m getting verclempt thinking about it. But I would LOVE for that to happen. The thing is, not too many people would remember that book.

Tommy also reminds me if that chacracter that's in the runaway Carolina, and I feel tommy is the original Concept and design of a character like that! I feel tommy should have have that same powers as Carolina dying and being this astral character just reminds me of tommy! Carolina always reminded me of tommy. I would like to see tommy use different powers such as hypnosis and Illusion casting.

Wow! I didn’t expect this. She was just a totally obscure one-shot character (Why did they even bring her back?). And I had no idea that she was in the animated series (I LIVED on that show as a kid in High School (As well as Spider-Man, The Fantastic Four, The Hulk, and hell, even Al Bundy.). Thanks for posting this! Ever since I saw her in the animated X-Men television series I’ve been a big fan of Tommy’s. I only discovered her name due to getting an X-Men Encyclopaedia and then found images online. Yet to buy #210 of uncanny x-men and the other comics she is in but will do in the future

It’s important to remember that mutants shouldn’t be expected to be warriors from birth. So calling her a coward is shortsighted at best, she’s a teen who, as a Morlock, obviously didn’t come from a stable and/or healthy family background who had been shunned first by society and then by another faction of the mutant community before ultimately being hunted… all before the age of 25. She’s been through enough and unless you’ve been present as someone is being murdered, it’s unwise to assume how they should react. It’s ultimately important to remember that most mutants featured in the X books are orphans given how often they’re murdered before adulthood. Orchis and their ilk are murderers of children essentially- there are few elderly mutants you see portrayed for a reason. This point is never brought up but it’s not untrue. It changes how you view The Avengers who are just cops essentially- working for the status quo while benefiting from abilities another similar group (mutants) are persecuted for and they barely fight for them. Mutants join THEIR crossover events to lend a hand but it is hardly or ever reciprocated. That Uncanny Avengers crap was just lip service, it’s moments like that where I’m reminded of how fake Captain America and all those Avengers are.
