The actor for Hua Xiong was perfect....Arrogant until Guan Yu's first strike, then a look of fear when he realized that this guy was no joke. He underestimated him, and it cost him his head. Still, Hua Xiong earned his arrogance. He was a pretty scary fighter, but just not smart enough to realize that there is always someone better out there...In his case he met that one.

In fact historically it wasnt Guan Yu who beat him in a duel, but Sun Jian who did so in a raid. You have to understand there are TWO versions of every character. The romantisized, larger than life version, and the more down to earth historical ones.

To give you facts about Guan Yu, his style name is Yunchang, and he's younger than Liu Bei by a year, and he's much younger than Cao Cao as well.

Historically Guan Yu was not a very successful general so Cao Cao having him on his side would not of made much difference. In the video game series Romance of the Three Kingdoms he is a successful general that would help Cao Cao unite China a little faster. I guess that doesn't count but at least it is something.

Gildur Zhou Good point. Shu was losing badly until Zhuge Liang joined but he just a delay for the inevitable. I also think China would be better if Zhuge Liang had join Wei but everyone has their reasons and I'm guessing its all about being "useful" and be "remembered" in history. Since Wei have so many talented strategist, Zhuge Liange was like fark wei.. I'm joining Shu the underdog. Pang Tong was a good example when he threw his life away.

Lufieres Zhou Ren Xiang Both Taoism and Buddhism had nothing to do with these deities. The praying or idolising of ancient or mythical heroes is a tradition being passed down since Shang dynasty. Due to lack of full understanding of the religions, as well as confusion between traditional folklore and history, people started associating these deities with Taoism and Buddhism in temples. Also, the fact that this influence was highlighted in famous novels like Journey to the West, Fengshen(Investiture of the Gods) just made matters worse. A handful of such deities were originally from novels. Monkey King being the most obvious example.

Many scholars think it was passed down in folk lore (so it didn't really exist). besides, that type of blade was very uncommon at the time and very difficult to forge... making it even more unlikely the guan dao actually existed. (its more fun to believe it did exist though. :)
