@@hanriktan I think your comment is an overreaction. Referring to all Chinese people like this feels somewhat discriminatory. don't generalize an individual case to an entire group of people; it comes across as offensive.
Singapore has to maintain the 74% majority chinese population. But with falling birthrates, the government has to encourage China visitors and students to eventually grow the PR and new citizens pool. Need to see the greater picture.
Tourists who want to visit NUS/NTU should pay for a guided tour, like Oxford. This will help to manage the crowd, and money can be used for helping students from low income families.
@27364928214 ай бұрын
well, most universities in the world u can just walk in and visit the unis
The surge in visitors to NUS and NTU is Singapore's visa policy, which currently allows Chinese tourists to enter without a visa. This ease of access has led to a notable increase in tourist numbers, as many families are keen to explore these top-ranked universities, which they view as aspirational for their children. In contrast, the UK and the US have more stringent visa requirements for visitors, which can deter spontaneous tourism to their university campuses. The application process for visas in these countries often involves additional steps and costs, making them less accessible for casual tourists.
Go to the root of the problem, which is the visa-free policy.

@@judger1984 Yes, they did vandalize on NUS tree with "中国万岁". They also sneak into NUS students' hostels and incident was reported.
NuS students are so frustrated and news, social media have widely reported. Till now MOE minister still keeps silent. Gov is still not going to stop VISA free for China tourists. Can Gov release data to show how much $ those China tourists brought to Singapore? No foreign tourists go university for tour except China tourists. Touring the university is cheaper than other tourist spots such as Sentosa. To effectively stop these tourists, nus should collect entrance fee & set the price higher than universal studio, zoo.
There are local agents who serve these parents. They will guide them to apply for one year preparatory course learning English then A-Levels. There are many options and these agents have good business. KZbin has many such "新加坡留学" instructional advertisement.
The NUS campus is open concept. All tourists have the right to visit any public areas. You cannot discriminate against one particular countrymen.
