X-Plane 11 | AirfoilLabs King Air 350 | KOTH ✈ KPDX | Full Flight

King Air 350 was introduced to the market in 1984, at the time under name “Super King Air 300”. It was created based on the Model 200. The new model 300 had a modified airframe and more powerful engines with redesigned cowlings. Later on Beechcraft started modifying the 300 Model by stretching the fuselage by close to three feet, two cabin windows on each side were added, and also famous winglets. This type was introduced in 1990 and is now known as King Air 350. Besides the changes to the fuselage the 350 was given a higher MTOW of 15,000 lb. From1998 Beechcraft implemented the UltraQuiet active noise canceling system as standard on all King Air 350s. In 2003, the 350 avionics were upgraded. Nevertheless our model represents the type just before 2003. The decision was taken based on subjective esthetics aspects - we just love living and breathing analog aircraft :). The Beast is equipped with two PT6A-60A engines, producing each 1,050 SHP up to 25.000 feet. It has a normal cruise speed of 311 knots, a range of 1,550 nautical miles, a climb rate of 2,700 feet per minute, and requires 3,217 feet of runway to takeoff and 3,161 to land.

Ok big mistake everyone is making with starting this plane, the already started engine needs to go to high idle before starting the other engine to ensure adequate DC voltage from the generator, it also prevents the already running engine from overheating due to the draw on the generator, once both engines are on and generators on, then bring the fuel controllers back to low idle. Nice video as usual!!!

He forgot to shut the operating generator off prior to energizing the left starter too. Great way to toast a current limiter

Another winner in the books captain. Your videos are for me like a visit from an old friend. The AFL 350 is in my opinion the best study-level turboprop in the sim. Period! There is also a big gap in the online simming space for great tutorials on how to fly this thing based on proper real-life procedures. Your video should fill some of that void. I am a long time follower and I think your passion and dedication to this hobby and this community at large has spawned more and more flight sim faithful.

Hi Q8, all was well but... 9:38 - On a turboprop it's better to taxi in BETA mode on your thrust levers then your taxiing will be nice & smooth. 13:10 - It's better to climb in the IAS mode. 24:47 - Your landing lights are on the nose wheel, so... Only after "landing gears went down" it's time to switch on the LL. Just my 3 cents ;)

One tip for you my friend, normally before we start the left engine and switch the right generator, we move the condition lever to high rpm, then we commit the left engine start with the condition lever on high rpm, after a successful start of the left engine then we bring back the both condition levers to low idle. Aside from that very nice video, thanks for sharing.

@@pgreenx It can cause an engine fire, when low fuel entering the chamber with high power setting, will cause pretty high temperatures in the Interstage turbine, it'll damage the engine and melt the components in the turbine, because the fuel acts as a cooling agent for the combusion chamber, avoid setting high powers with low idle condition lever

Good video thanks but just one remark. The FMC is showing TOD onto the progress page, if the target altitude is in the flightplan and the descent page is setup. And the little white crosses onto ESI HSI will show if above or below decent pass.

Thanks again for the flight. This is part of my Saturday morning routine :) A few questions: Do you use the weather radar at all in the KingAir? I am not 100% if using it correctly but I rarely see anything on it. I also have that problem with the RPM levers. Any actual fix for that out there you know of? I find it is mainly in the 3D cockpit only but if I use the 2D control panel it doesn't go to cutoff. Part of my startup before I get power is to mess with the levers to help prevent cutoff. Cheers!

Just got this plane. Have flown the C90 default in XPlane and it uses the same FMC, which does show TOD in the Progress Page (it ain't the program page as others have called it). OK, you never did switch from GPS nav mode to LOC/VOR and capture the ILS. So good thing you had really nice weather or you may not have landed. And one more comment; one does not hold the approach speed down to slamming on the runway. That approach speed in my judgement should have been about 120 and slow to 90 -95 over the threshold. I would instruct my primary students to make a good smooth landing is to try to keep it from touching down; i.e., keep raising the nose and touch on the main wheels then allow the nose to smoothly touch. Go out to any airport and watch the pros do it.

I'm new to the Airfoil Labs KA350. Following your steps is great but what do I do when my FMC goes dark? I was at the stage of setting the map and Heading when I noticed the FMC display was gone. This thing is so complex I feel like I need professional training to get it airborne. Wow!

Great video as always. I want to get this plane but I need to know how it is on frames. I use a very good gaming laptop and have no trouble with G. A. airplanes like the Twin Commanche but my machine really struggles with the default airliners for some reason. Any thoughts about how this add-on might perform?

It actually is ok on frames. It has been built with performance in mind. If you are ok with the IXEG 737 or Zibo, this should be easier slightly on FPS.

I'm sorry but the Collins FMS is in fact showing the Top of Descent, at least in my Version 1.4 of the aircraft. You can find the TOD in the PROG (progress) section. I absolutely love the plane despite some still remaining minor issues...

Salaam-Alaikum Osama, very good video, I’m thinking in getting this bird but I was kinda disappointed with airfoil labs, about using the Xplane 11 stock FMC but I think I can live with that. I think the stock xp11 FMC does give you the TOD on progress page I believe, I sometimes use it with FlyJSim 727. But for sure is best what you just did, calculate your TOD. Hi, I need advice. I bought a King Air 350 and I can't figure out how to get out of the seat. I found the commands Walk forward, Walk backward, but every time I release the key, it returns me to the pilot's chair. Don't know where I'm making a mistake? If I click on an external position in the lower left part, it teleports me there for a second, but immediately returns me to the cabin. Thank you

ecevans evans It's the default FMC, thus not realistic. It's basically just there to let you enter a route. I honestly hate it when devs create a nice plane in every regard and then slap in the default FMC. It's like driving a Tesla with a 1990s GPS.

Check the the brightness dial on the FMS if you haven't already. You might have it dialed all the way down.

The heading is set to 130 because we were departing runway 13. There is a heading selector in the 2d panel.

I use rudder pedals to steer on the ground, but you can always map keyboard buttons to achieve that. It will not feel very realistic, so I recommend rudder pedals for best results.

i think he uses headshake as well. then the camera is moved in the cockpit based on g-forces. This really adds to the realism. In combination with x-camera you can activate headshake only for the cameras you want. It always helps to have a camera without headshake on for mouse clicks on knobs ;-)

I’ve seen a mod called advanced rendering options and it has an option called scenery shadows. It is just like enabling scenery shadows in the vanilla game but it takes only 4 FPS instead of 15. Also it allows to tweak other stuff but I’d highly recommend to use it as it also generally boosts your FPS a little
