Hi ! Thank's for sharing . Ground effect of the main blades make the last meter the most challenging. Because it pushes you away from the ground. I use to drop the collective in this case, this is a bit hard for passengers :p

I appreciated your video. I agree trying to do it "the hard way" gives more satisfaction in the long run while learning more. I've been at it a few weeks now and I've been doing the same as you with the NIMBUS UH-1 Iroquois "HUEY" and all I gotta say is I wish I had a penny for every time I've destroyed it on landing attempts because I'd be rich by now. I want to hover taxi as you do. Anyway, you have given me hope.

Enjoyed your video...I was just looking at students hovering at BC Helicopter school at CYXX in British Columbia..Canada and then found you doing the same...xplane 10? I love the Schweitzer 300's...

Ah :) It's xplane 11 actually. Yes I have the Robinson R22, it's great fun, I can imagine it's similar to the Schweitzer :)

I use the track-ir 5 for headtracking. Yes the R22 is very tricky to fly. The springless joystick mod was absolutely necessary I think. Also to have an extended stick that more resembles the throw you have on a real cyclic, to give you some more precision on your stick input, surely makes it easier to control.

hi bickysim, nice video :) !! I have an issue with the as350B3 from dreamfoil in xplane 11, on ground the helo shake and slide when the collective is on full idle position have you encounter this issue also ?

My pleasure! And yep, I think so too! I've actually just made a modification to my joystick by removing the centering spring, to make it feel more like an actual heli-cyclic, which as I understand, doesn't have a fixed center position - you just have to find/feel the helis pivot point, as it shifts based on how the heli's loaded up with people and cargo etc. And that actually made a big difference to the way I'm able to correct and do small inputs. I'll be making a new video talking/demonstrating it shortly!

how do you get the zoom out so far? You can see the whole cockpit.

You have to change the Field of view in the settings. The wider you set it, the wider you can zoom out when using the zoom tool

Do you have a separate throttle and collective?

I do, but the throttle isn't really operated during flight - the power is automatically controlled by a governor in helicopters, so it isn't really necessary to have a throttle - you use the throttle handle (on a normal flight stick) for collective input instead.
