As a teen I had lived with my mom in Causeway Bay Hysan Avenue in the early 60s, then I saw Lee Garden Hotel open for business in early 70s. Remember there was the Sunning House with very high-class hostess especially for tourist? Remember The Golden Finch & Alexander Restaurants; the full course steak with Russian soup & entree, cocktails, ice cream, coffee was only $4.5 and all waiters are in uniform and treat you very politely! Of course, there was The Maxim with the upper floor open balcony dining area you can see the tram rumbles into Happy Valley while you eat! I went to Lee theatre every week. Later came the Queen's cafe from North point, although the soup was authentic Russian Botsch the food was so lousy and the restaurant was so dirty. it had become so famous in later years of the 90s was just due to being as setting in a famous movie by a quack director! Deanie Yip ( retired famous star & singer ) in that time was the 2nd singer at Lee Garden Hotel with a Filipino combo. She wasn't even the main singer but she got long hair to her waist and looks so pretty! I lived there until 1974 June and left for the USA while my mom moved to Happy Valley! Wonderful convenient area and a great life to remember forever!

你是師兄。我 class of ‘78. 華仁從1955年搬到Mt. Parish後到我畢業時都沒多大改變。但八十年代就和香港一樣變得很快。到現在差不多認不出來。

@@yinszeilam Hi, Nice to hear from an alumni of 華仁, Fr Barrett was the principal of class '78, is that right ? 我的时代是 Fr Foley and Fr Deignan, 畢業 27 年后于2002 回母校探访,已经改變很多, but my beloved Church was still there, 欣慰 !

Sorry my writing pad is not working so have to yuse English. Anyone remember Jockey Club Government Primary School? I finished my primary 6 there (1961), was it in Wood Road off Wanchai Road? There was a technical college nearby.
@carollo70404 жыл бұрын
Yes, it was. Wood Road used to be a very quiet residential area. There were two other schools nearby, the Salvation Army primary and the Tung Wah primary.
@takew46944 жыл бұрын
@@carollo7040 Thanks for confirming. I think the "technical college" I mentioned was some kind of evening training college, might be called Morrison Hill or something like that. I honestly can't remember.
@carollo70404 жыл бұрын
@Tak W It’s 維多利亞工業學院in Chinese. Probably called Victoria technical college in English. It was a secondary college with the normal subjects but also taught its students technical skills such as wood work.

@@carollo7040 Thank you again. We are talking about late 50s and early 60s, right? Gosh! I wish I could visit Hong Kong and walk the streets of wanchai again.
@carollo70404 жыл бұрын
@Tak W I lived in the area from the early 60s to the late 70s. I suspect the college would have been there in the 50s as well.
There was a public toilet by Tai Sam Yuen restaurant and Wanchai fire station, that area stink as hell. Some places in the video are Causeway Bay, not Wanchai.
