fantastic review! gonna grab me a pack of the air pros once i run out of regular pros. for some reason they work well enough for me on the superglide. i think they sounded super scratchy on the skypad 3.0 which really shocked me.

For the sound test there was clearly a piece of dust or something under the skates bc if your pad is clean it does not scrape like that regardless of skate

I'm glad to see this video because the reusability of the feet is most important to me! Because a durable feet requires the mouse to be level from the start, so you have to peel it off once and adjust it with masking tape.

Hey so regular ptfe wears down less than obsidian skates are there any alternative skates that have less wear over time

What kind of pad are you using? Skate life will vary from pad to pad.

@@corpingtons I haven't used the superglide myself. But either the Obsidian Air or Air Pros would be the ideal match. If you want the most durable go for the Obsidian Air Pros!

So just to make sure, Obsidian Airs are the exact same as the normal Obsidian skates, just significantly quieter? I just recently ordered Obsidian Donuts because of this video so I just want to make sure I made the right choice. Keep up the great work :)

Hi! The material is exactly the same as it was on the non-air Obsidians! I will say though, if you like the donuts and want a quieter experience maybe hold off a month or so. We might see some Air Donuts soon 👀

Hey! For normal cloth pads just get the OG Jades! The Air versions are more designed for hard-pad usage.

Hey! I'll have a review of the donuts up soon, but the Obsidian Donuts (Red) and Air Donuts (purple) are the exact same in terms of their material. The only difference between them is that the Air's are slightly taller (1mm) where the Obsidian Donuts are 0.85 - 0.9mm thick. So either will work perfectly fine, I'd say just go for the older Obsidian Donuts as they're cheaper, and you're not using the air tech on a soft pad. Hopefully that helps!

I see that XRayPad are now offering the Air Donuts on their site and as someone who switches between both glass and cloth would the Air Donuts or Air Dots suit my needs better or does it not really make a difference?

I actually JUST got my samples of the donuts funnily enough! Personally speaking the Obsidian donuts are the best skates out there and the air donuts are the same amazing skate just with the added foam + a larger surface area. Personally I prefer the donuts over the dots but it's really up to person preference.

The difference in the skate height is so minimal I doubt it'll make them more usable on soft pads. Better to go with the donuts for usage on softer pads.

Obsidian Airs 100%. If you're going to use glass only you can use the Air pros, but they're unusable on fabric pads.

So is it safe to use Obsidian Air Pro for cloth? I'm kinda weird I want slower experience on Hien but I'm worried the pad will wear out faster than with PTFE skates :( Can you confirm I'm good to go?

Hey! You can use them but there is the risk of the skates damaging surface fabrics, albeit rare but it still can happen. You'd be safer using the Obsidians or the non-pro airs on fabric overall.

Honestly not sure, I've never tried them on those kinds of pads. I assume the Obsidian Airs would be fine, not sure about the Air Pros however.

Either the Obsidian Air or Air Pros would work well! You can also try the TJ Excluisves Plastix skates or the Obsidian Donuts but they'll be louder than the air skates!

X-RayPad is working on donuts versions and full size Air skates but there is no ETA currently. That said though you can just go ahead and get the normal Obsidian Donuts as you don't need the Air versions since you're using the RUIN! Don't use any dots though as the RUIN is so soft you'll bottom out your mouse with dot skates! When I reviewed the RUIN I was using the X2H with the Obsidian Donuts and it preformed exceptionally well, so I'd just pickup a set of the Obsidian Donuts and use them on the RUIN!

@@P4sta. You can use dots for that but on the X-Soft base you can bottom out the skates really easily. Donuts work the best for adding a little more control while avoiding your mouse from bottoming out

One month??? That's wild haha. I've been using a set of the OG Obsidians (same material as the airs) for almost a year now. But yes both the Obsidian Air and Air Pros will have significantly loner life-spans than normal PTFE feet. It'll be slightly shorter on hard pads like glass but still significantly longer than the majority of most skates.

@@govgamers2821 You can use them but they're extremely high friction so they "stick" to soft-pads surfacing causing inconsistent brake and initial friction. Better to stick to the Jade or Obsidians for fabric pad use.
