NONE of the X9's made it through harvest this year without breaking down. In fact - they were so behind with harvest this year that they rented 3 7250's to get them through...and they bleed green. Hello from Australia. We lift the choppers and install custom made panels which concentrate the straw into a narrow windrow which is then burnt. This augments the grass weed control enabled by the chemical rotation from the legume phase. It's done with all legumes, which for us means field peas and lentils. Unfortunately you may not get a dry down period in order to burn before the snow, I don't know. And the wind you blokes get would be a problem for windrow integrity. It is, however, a handy tool for stubble/weed management and no problems with plugging!

I've heard a couple farmers in my area say they regret upgrading to the X9. One in particular owns 5 X9 1100 machines, 3 out of the 5 were broke down, John Deere couldn't get parts for them, on back order. . Wishes he'd have kept the 790's. In my opinion the 9870 STS is still the best John Deere combine ever built.

How about the 9770? We are getting ours delivered next week

I jave no idea how they would behave in your situation, but world wide, CLAAS and New Holland hold the reigns for best combines. Maybe a good opportunity to ask for a demo from them.

I’m sorry to say this, keep in mind I understand how it’s difficult to deal with rains after spraying diquat, but I see the straw that’s going through that machine. That straw is beyond ideal harvesting conditions. I don’t even like JD, but expectations need to be realistic. I did the same thing to my Lexion 760 when I was cutting a lower thick spot that was still green. It’s not the combine, it’s the crop condition.

A few farmers south of the boarder run through Kosha weeds in there red combines. Maybe it’s time to test one?
@thomaspatterson5174 Жыл бұрын
Years ago we would swath lentils and let them dry before combining with a pickup header. We had to swath at night while the dew was on the plants so they wouldn't shatter. Not sure if that is a viable option for you at the north farm.

Maybe it’s the spreader that causing it to plug? Also get at rear view camera (Wolfbox) you can see when it stop putting out straw?

Even as green as the regrowth is, there's still no alot of it...compared to say green stemmed soys. Is it maybe a feeding issue, where its houng through the rotors in slugs?

Always remember the fact that you can basically get 3 (or sometimes even 4) 690s for the price of an X. That's just crazy to think about.

Is the plugging only on dual rotors ? I remember from the fendts you had to add the shark fin to help with material flow out of the rotor areas I thought the JD units spun opposite of the fendt (just checked they do) I wonder if there needs to be a beater or something pushing the material down and away from the exit of the rotors Claas ?

One must question the enghineering and testing done on these components. Surely, the conditions you are working would not be unique. It reminds me of the rotary lawmower we used to have - any hint of green grass, and ther thing clogged up - but then it only cost $NZ305.00. Cheers and thanks for the coverage.
