Some notes on rules: You only roll defence dice once all changes to attack dice (target locks, focus tokens) have been resolved. It makes for some tough decisions when spending a focus might get you the hit you need, but leave you open to a counterattack if they manage to evade you. Also, you can't fire primary and secondary weapons in one turn unless you have a special ability for it. A ship can only make one attack on its turn, and you'll have to choose what weapon you use for it.

It's on page 19 of the original core rulebook, top right corner. It's not actually mentioned in the main rules for shooting for some reason.

You cannot fire a secondary and primary weapon attack in the same round from one ship. There are some cards such as the y-wing upgrade that let you do so.

There are a couple other exceptions. There are also bombs, which are dropped as an action rather than being considered secondary weapons

The rule is that generally you can only make one "attack". And secondary weapons typically have the "attack" keyword indicating that they use your attack to fire them.

Scott, you should check out Heroes of the Aturi Cluster! If nothing else just read through some of the documentation. It's a cooperative conversion of this game with computer controlled AI imperial forces! I just got a bunch of the cards and such printed at the print shop I work at, and I'm super excited to play it sometime soon!

Can confirm, HotAC is brilliant. You do need quite a few TIE fighters for it, but you can use other ships instead. It's loads of fun and a completely different experience.

Absolutely agree we are five missions into our first campaign and it is a blast!! I love developing a character and seeing him level up and add new abilities over time. Such a great mod and the AI system is super intuitive keeping you guessing every round.

Scott, I live in the SF Bay area and I work at game shop. The first edition is still in stock with our distributors. We sell it for $29.95 MSRP. Fantasy Flight Games does print things in cycles and there will be points where they won't be in print but they usually come back. There is often a delay when things go out of stock at their online store and with local stores.

6:05 not just when playing casual. It's 100% legal to mix rebellion and resistance (or imperium and first order) for any and all games, including tournaments.

Also, your meta is slightly outdated, Rebels have made their comeback with interesting bomb playstyles and are currently trying (but as of yet still failing) to dethrone Scum; Imperials are currently not viable.

sure, just like you can have Darth Vader flying against Darth Vader if both players chose to use the same faction (unique pilots are only limited per list, not per game). Tournament play is more concerned with balance than with being thematic. It's actually more common to see thematic restrictions (such as rebellion vs imperium only) in casual games.

I love X-Wing... have pretty much everything for the Rebels including the Tantive IV. Sadly I have yet to use her in battle since not many people play the Epic games around here. Good to see the Imperials putting up a good show, would like to collect a load of TIE's but real life has other financial commitments to make first haha.

Scott actually rebels and resistance are one faction for sake of building for even tournaments just as empire and first order are.

Yep, that one is explained as the Rebellion having found a few of those old ships and refitting them to hold up to gcw-era combat. That rareness is even reflected in gameplay in that, while most ships have both generic and unique pilots, the arc only has unique pilots. (generics have names like "Academy Pilot" and you can field as many of the same of those as you have points for, while unique pilots are pilots like "Luke Skywalker" of whom you can have only one in your squadron)

There are also different game types, like Heroes of the Aturi Cluster which is a co-op campaign where 1-6 players each control one rebel ship flying against Imperial forces being run by dice and AI scripting

Just one minor thing. It makes sense for you because Orion is quite young, but if you were playing with two other adults then splitting one team in half is not a good way to make X-Wing 3-player. Just make a third team :)

Yeah, that's very true. I would still strongly prefer 3 teams to two people playing on a single team, personally. People ganging up on each other is an issue with any PvP game that has more than two sides, but so long as only one side can win things tend to work out (IE alliances are always unstable :D )

Personally I think 2v1 is better, because 3-player does causes issues with ganging up. Once you get to 4+ players it's easier, because with 4 you can do 2v2, then at 5 just run furball.

If you don't have an expensive amount of money, you can play TableTop Simulator, there's various X-Wing TableTop stuff on it's workshop .u. It's 20$ I think so it would be interesting in the long run if you want to play X-Wing TT ;)

I bought the original set a couple of years ago along with the Millennium Falcon and Vader's Tie Advanced. I have no interest in the Force Awakens stuff. I got a good deal, cheaper than in the vid. I didn't get a nice mat like that though, too expensive. Anyway, I never opened any of it because I realized I have no one to play it with hehe. The models look really good though, which is the main reason I got it.

You should look at the Heroes of the Resistance pack. The Falcon in that is completely insane, especially Finn and Rey combo. If you stick Kanan Jarus from the Ghost in there you can perform red 3 Signor loops all day and not take stress meaning Finns ability is active literally every turn and allows you to get out of arc against most ships. Finn/Rey and Norra in the ARC-170 is one of my favourite 100 point lists currently.

That's fair enough Scott :). I tend to field competitive level lists so I just get everything lol. Double Falcon was actually a very popular list at tournaments for a while. Fat Han especially is amazing even now but you need the Tantive IV for C3-PO unless you proxy the card which is ok for friendly matches. The YT-2400 is worth a look for the Fat Dash build too, he's insanely agile for a large based ship and you can disable your primary weapon to load a Heavy Laser Cannon (range 2-3) but allow it to have the turret firing arc. I'm enjoying playing 4x Y-Wing's with Twin Laser Cannons (Thug Life list) with Scum it's super frustrating for people to play against :).

Its usually worth grabbing them when you see them, even if you balk at the price. Iv watched things like this in my wish list almost double in price. I'm still kicking myself for passing up the original Koto Harley Quinn Bishoujo when it released for just $70.
