Thanks , Just setup and ran my X-10 on Tue the 28th....after 230ish rounds of 223 the bearing split making the whole thing a giant paper weight...NOT TO HAPPY after that. Ran great till then. Your centering / alignment tool and videos made the set up a breeze THANK YOU !

My index arm bearing failed last weekend. Got to around 250 rounds of 9mm. Had a primer not seat properly and while pressing through it to clear press, breaing blew up. I've got the replacements you recommend on the way to get it fixed. Put in an email to Frankford, maybe they'll give me a discount so I can get a spare tool head! 😂 Great press if this is the only bug they have!

Randall, I can't determine which of the bearings on Amazon are the ones you recommend with the thicker outside race. Could you please give me the link to the right one. There seem to be several of the right size but none gives the race thickness in the specifications, so I can't compare. Thanks.

Great video ! Wonder if you might add a link to the tool set you use ? Also, there is nothing in the arm retaining the upper slot for the index shuttle, so the reason you remove that screw is to save removing the post ? With the post off, no need to remove that upper bolt.

I just broke the bearing on my machine after about 1000 rounds of 9mm loaded. Frankford initially told me I could buy a new part, but then agreed to cover under warranty one time after I challenged them a little. They said it was my fault for forcing something, which I don't think I did. I've loaded over 30,000 rounds on a Hornady LNL so have some experience with reloading. It seems like poor design if the part breaks that quickly. On the positive side, I received the replacement piece from Frankford within about 3 days from contacting them.

Do you know if the presses that just hit the retail market from Midway, one of which I just bought, have the new improved bearings? It sounds like no. I believe these newest presses do include the newest cam redesign, but am I wrong about that? Love your informative videos.

the bearings were never upgraded even in the pilot program, they redesigned the cams to relieve the pressure on the bearing and the replacements sent out were the same bearings

Im at 600rds of 9mm loaded so far and no problems at all. Hopefully stays like that. What does happen when the bearing fIles? Indexing stops?

I 3d-printed a bushing to the dimension of a 626 bearing - there is no need for a ball bearing there, especially with the way the load is focused on just one part of the outside race.

Those bearings and the plastic case plungers are designed to be sacrificial parts that break in case of a malfunction due to the huge compound torque the press has so that you do not damage more important and expensive parts. By doing this you opened yourself up to worse damage unfortunately

@@bragginrightsprecisionrelo346 lol, no. a 3d printed part designed correctly will deform, rather than crack the way the bearing does, and allow a gentler yield on failure.

@@janwalter4844 lol, the explanation that you designed a bushing that will deform at a certain load would have been helpful in the first post. When you simply post your 3d printed a (bushing)...bushings are normally associated with being solid. I am well aware of wonders of 3D printing...we own many high end 3D printers in our business.

What kind of symptoms do you have when the bearing is split? Does it hang up on the upstroke?

I had that same problem treid to punch out the bearing and cracked the arm all started because primers jam and primers jam because of the bent priming rod they give you clips the gear on the priming system flips primers over there is more videos coming out with the same problem looks like FA have quality control issues.

The c clips can be found at tractor supply. So if you destroy them. Or bend. Break. Cheap

Frankly this old man who is still running a couple of mid 80's Dillon RL450s is VERY, VERY much impressed with this press. But (that's a great big capital BUT) I have yet to find a video or review where someone (anyone) has run a few thousand reloads without a shutdown failure (a few hundred just don't get it for me). A link to such will be much appreciated.

Really too early to say that Scott, as those of us with the production X-10s are just now getting them set up and making ammo. Of course the pilot group had some issues, that was the purpose of the pilot. For myself with the first run of production , things are running smooth and I'm about to seriously ramp up production while shopping for bulk deals on reloading components.

There really aren't any major problems...pretty much all have been solved or easily remedied as these bearings. It's a great press and no company is immune to new product bugs in the beginning.

Appears this product was rushed to market without any QC / Durability testing, your videos are good, but this product seems to be too immature and requires way to much tinkering, maintenance and repairs, I'll stick with single stage presses. Thanks for the information.

They actually did a pilot program and made some changes during the program, the bearings is an issue with them not meeting the specs listed by the manufacturer and they are sourcing different bearings. The issues are minor and easy remedies. No manufacturer ever in history has put out a new product that didnt have a few bugs in the beginning and some never fix the bugs requiring a drawer full of spare parts. Overall this is a great press but it is not a press for beginners, its a 10 station press with a lot of moving parts and factors involved in set up.

My bearings just cracked and I got 75 rounds loaded. Not so pleased with this press at this point.

Sorry to hear this, those bearings are meant to be a sacrificial part and break if you jam up the press and keep applying too much pressure. The press has a large amount of torque to be able to cycle and press down on 10 stations. The bearings break vs something more serious does. I broke my first set right off because I jammed the press by short stroking it, once I replaced the bearings and got through that learning curve I have never broken another set ...I have a 2nd x10 as well...have never broken them. Give FA a call...don't email...call.. they will send you out a complete arm...in-between waiting on parts...order the zz bearing I listed the link to and get your press going...then you will have a spare arm ready when the new one arrives if you ever need it.

Bad engineering of FA. They use the outer race of a standard bearing as a cam follower type of bearing. The difference is that cam follower type of bearings are engineered to take up the load on the outside of the bearing.

I am pretty close to Biden ignorant on mechanical engineering concepts, but the cracked races seem to validate your observation.
