Zoltan, help me if you can. In your review you noted that you've seen a few of these Chinese console clones, so you may know the answer. For 10 years I've used something called a Uniscom T656 player, which was a video and music player from China and it had a lot of menus that are identical to the ones shown with the X12, X7 and X6 at least from what I'v seen in review videos like yours. But I only used it for the music player, it was perfect; crucially it had a User EQ, alongside more standard EQs like DBB, bass, classical etc. Please, if you've got these consoles handy, could you let me know if any of them have User EQ as an option in their music player? Believe me I've tried dedicated music players which are supposed to be better quality than Chinese clones, but they just can't achieve the same sound depth that the cheap Uniscom player could do, be it for organ pieces or 90s Swedish death metal demos.

Im afraid I have never heard or seen the Uniscom (or Unicom? T656 player). Do you have a picture of what it looks like? I mostly focus on games, so I haven’t paid much attention to the music capabilities too much, either. I’ll keep my eyes out though and will look though some of my inventory.

Is there an handheld that can run ps1,NDS emulation 75$ or under and is decently built? I'd buy an odyn lite myself, but I cannot justify paying almost 100 dollars just for the shipping and taxes. I just cannot.

Kind of. BUT be warned that NDS emulation sucks … because obviously anything your going to get does not have a touchscreen… so your emulating pen movements which kills the experience. Most systems will not come with NDS emulation unless if you add custom firmware or something. As far as PS1 there are a ton these days. Do you prefer vertical (looks like a game boy) or horizontal (looks like a switch) form factor?

Hi @Retro Zoltan, you mention that there is an official updated firmware. Could you let us know where to find it, and how to flash the device? I'm assuming you did give it a try because you mention that it doesn't change much. I was given a X12 plus for Xmas last year, and tried to turn it on for the first time in a year today, but I'm greeted with just a static image, no menu whatsoever, so I'm thinking the device might need flashing

Technically I only read the release notes, but I will try and find the firmware. What’s concerning is I believe you need the menu working to upgrade. Do you have an SD card in your X12 currently?

This isn’t a bad place to start if you are new to this sort of thing, but don’t expect too much from this handheld. Maybe SNES (at best) and down.

Yeah I just got it and it's pretty rough. When I click the world browser to get to the internal memory conveniently I can't find that. It's like it's missing from mine. When you add game to this do you just put it on the SD card or do you have to put them in certain folders and if I want to try a PS1 game do I have to add that emulator or does it already work if I just put it on it?​@@RetroZoltan

Yes, kind of. When you exit a game it leaves a save state that you can choose “continue” next time you play the game. It’s shoddy but it works. Better than nothing I guess

Having trouble getting mine to turn on. Have it charging as the lights red but when I turn the switch and the lights blue it does not boot up any suggestions

So next to the USB charger port there is a tiny hole that I always assumed is a microphone. I’m guessing NOW that it’s a reset button. Just stick a needle or something in that hole and hold for a few seconds and try again. Just keep it unplugged while your doing this (in case if I am wrong!)

I wish there was a way to customize the icons. As far as I know there is no way, until someone makes some sort of custom firmware I don’t see it working. As far as the music player, that’s not very customizable either. I’m surprised people are actually using the music player so that’s kind of awesome that you are!
