I played these sort of games 25 years ago in Arcade machines and if you said you could have a small device with a colour lcd screen and thousands of games and plays video and music and other things, that would be though impossible and for a few chinese dollars too!!

I really like my X12 Plus 7 inch. I bought a 32 GB TF Card and loaded over 200+ GBA ROMs on it. I even bought a longer extension for the AV output and hooked it up to my 60 inch flatscreen TV. It is a awesome little device for Retro gamers like me! 😎👍

I ordered a freaking Ouya console after seeing Rerez's review of it, even knowing its specs and all, and already having lots of Chinese handhelds and all (including a lot of the X and MP series). That's your device's way of saying it's updating its file content, usually meaning you've added something to it recently or it generated additional software files based on your previous actions such as gameplay generating sgm files and all. There's no way to disable this function. Just be glad this isn't one of the really old devices; my first ever X6 got stuck permanently on the Generating Playlists screen and never recovered, but my newer ones never had that error. So at least the firmware has been somewhat updated.

The only affordable device with a large screen that can run PSP/PSX/N64/Dreamcast is is the O Droid Go Super. And I think the new software can support DS as well. It's 90 on Amer-I-something site after taxes and shipping 110 compared to Hardkernal which is 80 plus 40 shipping pee taxes and ebay/amazon starting at 150. The next device that can probably got further up to PS3 and Gamecube iirc is GPD, but it is $250 or more. They have devices that can emulate PS3, etc but they're like 900 or more.

Browse is a misleading title. Despite the fact that some of these devices even put an Internet Explorer icon over that label, they never have WiFi capability. Browse always means browsing the files on the device and SD card. Personally I can't see much use for it, unless you want to delete game save files and whatnot since they're invisible in the game menus. I use it on my Coolbaby RS-11 (despite the completely different name format, it's a system very much like this one) when playing videos so that exiting a video takes me back out to the video list, instead of throwing me all the way back to the main menu like the video menu does.

The RG351 is best reviewed, mostly because the software is better than on its predecessor (rg350). However, the aspect ratio of the 350 is way better for that classic emulation. However, personally, I'd like a bigger screen. The X21 is new and is looking better, but no reviews yet. Wicked, what would you recommend with a bigger screen?

@@Namilim The JXD Singularity is super expensive and has an old Android OS, but it does closer to what you want. Try finding JXD lookalikes around $100; they're sometimes even with better specs. Really, the JXD should have been half its price or less.

If flipping the switch back and forth on top isn't letting your device stay on, it's possible it could have disconnected from the circuit board and frozen I the off position permanently. If this is the case, try opening up your device and pulling out the power switch. Even after disabling that thing completely, you'll still be capable of shutting down the device by holding the power button for a few seconds.

There are no built in turbo buttons, nor can you map turbo. Saving is possible as save states only (six per ROM). Saving a game normally will not keep the data; every time you re-enter the game with the Restart function, everything gets reset.

@@entiar1 Thanks, i figured that might be the case but after seeing heaps of vids reviews on the chap chinese players, these use a dual core such as the X12 plus and to play these retro and PSP and better you need at least a 4 core and i decided on the PS7000 best of the cheapies and same as the pow kiddy with performance . it has quad core and only then you go to hundreds with name brand 8 cores and very smooth no frame drop on all games. The PS7000 has only a non IPS screen but it controls , and all else seem to be very good and battery too and the pow kiddy less so, but rieally good IPS screen. You get what you pay for generally and these you tube vids , you can see all the diff ones and good and bad points and the purist really want good D's and buttons and even hdmi output ; ease of use , so lots to learn , but i not sure of durability as inside the chinese ones are a bit slapdash on electronics and soldering compared to quality brands.

They're all very close to the same. Considerations should be mostly about the outer shell of the devices, since that's what changes the most between them all. It should be a good size for their hands (maybe small since they're kids, unless they enjoy big screens a lot, after all the big screen devices aren't any more expensive and are barely heavy at all). Another consideration should be button concavity. Their fingers will get sore quickly pressing buttons that bulge up out of the device. You'd want either flat buttons (like on the Coolbaby RS-11) or more preferably indented buttons that their fingers can sink comfortably into (like the big soft ones on the X6).

No Bluetooth capability. Even the ones that have USB ports for wired controllers, don't bother, as these barely provide enough data transfer for the controllers to do anything.

Are these emulators commercial? What I mean is with the same ui from the previous model x series handhelds being used, some of the emulation in turn was better with this one. Example of that would be megadrive. What do you think they changed about this handheld over say the x9s or x12?. Is the chipset any different?.. As always love the videos and thanks!

Front end including most emulators are the same, did see some minor different performance with the X12 Plus and the X16. At the and not the performance you see with games like with the RG350 for example. These X-Series still suffer from poor emulation in my opinion.
