Agree with the tribute. I was able to ride Shockwave multiple times throughout they years at Six Flags Great America in Gurnee, IL. Towards the end though, it became quite rough. Man, X2, what a crazy ride. It was my first real roller coaster, and I had no idea what I was getting myself into. It was a night ride, and I decided to seat in the front, or at least what I thought was the front. I ended up getting an back row, inside seat ride and after that ride, I was sold on roller coasters. Oh, and if you think the view is good during the day time, well, all I can say is that it doesn't even compare to the night view. I also have to disagree about the turn around being a con. The turn around offers a great feeling of flight, and like you said, it is a nice "resting point". To be honest, I think that a bat wing or other similar element would make the coaster worse since, as said before, the turn around offers a nice feeling of flight.
@OklahomaCoasterFan4 жыл бұрын
I agree with you. I like that turnaround, especially if I load on the stairs side. You're on the outside of the turnaround, with a great feeling of flight and a great view. Awesome video!! Magic Mountain is my homepark, and my first time there (in 2015) with my friends I was too afraid that I didn't ride X2. Everyone told me that It was really intense, so I prefered to ride other rollercoasters like Superman, Batman and Viper. The next year, I decided to ride X2 because I started to love rollercoasters and I wanted to have the experience. In that time I used to ride rollercoasters only on the middle or the back. And when I got to ride X2, there was a huge line in the middle, so I told my friend that it was ok to ride it on the back. I got on the inner sit, but I still had a thrilling experience. It was so intense that I started to cry on that first drop (I have to admit that I was panicking with the audio effects). And when I got off X2, I screamed "I'M A NEW WOMAN!!!!!" and then I got really excited and X2 converted into one of my favorite roller coasters at Magic Mountain. 🥰 I have 5 years in a row going to Six Flags but I haven't ride the X2 since 2017 (I went with other friends and they didn't want to ride it) but I'm hoping to go this year and ride the X2 again. ❤️ It's an awesome experience!!! ❤️

This is Arrow Dynamics 9th Symphony or Swan Song. It is truly their greatest creation and NO ONE can top it. This ride intimidated me all day at the park, I rode this last, waited the 2 hours to get on it and had to get it off my list. I rode it at night when it was still X and to this day still scares the shit out of me. You nailed EVERY DETAIL about this ride. My friend and I just wanted to get over with, we took the shortest line on the car and it was the back row, and YEP it felt as is you don't have any control on what is happening. @markjensen70914 жыл бұрын
@@DoswarePictures Personally I do like Balto as a film, but I wouldn't compare the 2. Amblimation only lasted a few years and a few movies. Arrow Dynamics cut their teeth building rides for Disney, and later lasted 50 plus years. However, the phrase "9th symphony or swan song," is a musical reference. Beethoven made 9 symphonies and many people will state that the 9th was his greatest created, however it is not his LAST work he created. He continued to make piano sonata's and other works through out he later years. In the case of Arrow, X truly is a greatest work they ever created. The track design on X is far greater than any of their previous designs, its smoother, and the cars don't make you feel as if your going thru a blender. I think they would still be around today had they not gone into bankruptcy after 9/11. 9/11 mixed with the dot com bubble resulted in a major recession world wide for about 2 years. To be honest, timing was the WORST for them. I think had they gone bankrupt later or earlier, they would still be around for they could have restructured and weathered the storm.

Cons:none Pros:everything When I went it was my #1 and it didnt even have the music or fire working that day and it was literally imo the best and most intense coaster there Lemme explain: I rode front when I went and I still loved it, I didnt mind the length it was so intense I didn't even think about the length, even though the audio and fire didn't work it didnt matter at all I loved it, I didnt have to put my stuff in a locker since I had someone to hold it but I can see why it would suck, the turnaround was kinda weak but it just gave me a time to breathe which is needed on this ride, I rode inside and didnt get a ride on the outer seats which I assume is for the better

I’ve been on quite a few roller coasters, over 200 to be exact. And still nothing beats this mind boggling contraption at my home park. I’ve ridden this so many times but that drop genuinely still makes me scream every time. I come off and just can’t stop laughing about it. I’m gonna miss those weekdays where you could get multiple rides on this.

My absolute FAVORITE coaster ever. I moved to San Diego when I was 21 years old, the same year it opened (as X), waited in line for 2 hours to ride it and have gone back at least 12 times in the past 18 years.

Had my first ride on X2 in February 2020, and I thought I received a head injury. I did multiple back-to-back rides on Eejanaika at Fuji Q, no pain. Glad I got to experience X2 , though. 👍🏿

Also, the turnaround itself is filled with pros and cons, as you’ve mentioned. I sorta like the short and sweet baby-carriage portion of the ride. Its like the coaster speaks to me “don’t worry baby, I know that first part was scary, but the rest is easy as....NOPE HERES SOMMORE CRAY”

Coming from a Cedar Point local, Cedar Point does not require lockers currently. Back in 2018, Cedar Point required lockers on only Steel Vengeance. Due to a ton of complaints, pouches were added which let you take small stuff on.

But you cant bring bags onto Millennium force or TTD, thats what I'm saying
@RodknockRhett4 жыл бұрын
@@AirtimeThrills Why would you take a bag onto them? Unless you have it secured properly, you're going to loose it. They have bins for stuff like that. Cedar Point has a valid reason for requiring you to secure your phone on Steel Vengeance. Someone got themselves killed by Raptor after trying to recover their phone themselves.

Most fun I probably had on a roller coaster but it was quite rough. Didn’t take away from it being one of the best and most unique rides I’ve been on.

Rode it in 2018 and the first drop is completely insane. But my head banged so hard on the last turn... I had a big headache after. I was alone in my row and took the inner seat to avoid that.

I'm having some nostalgic feelings of my teen years. I rode X2 twice back in 2009 and now I really want to go back to SFMM to have some fun. Together with Tatsu, the most epic coaster I've ever ridden.

I hear this: In late November 2019 I rode it 4 times all in the back and slapped the back of my calfs the 2nd time riding it before learning to keep my legs extended to avoid future calf injuries. After that ride I went on the other side to ride in the back row (like always) and someone with crutches begged me to let him sit on the inside. Was I gonna deny that poor guy? No! That'd make me a monster. I only rode this coaster 4 times in one day this past November and I still have more stories from it. GREAT COASTER! Thank you for this awesome video.

I can’t wait till I’m able to make a third visit to ride X2. I’m hoping to finally get a ride on it in which my enjoyment of the experience isn’t outweighed or tarnished by my discomfort. I’ll be sure to try an inside seat, as well as test out different rows. I really want to like this coaster as much as everyone else does, lol.

Oh man I went that following February with a friend and our parents and it was an 8.5 hour wait! (ONE TRAIN OPS) We got to go marathon viper cuz it was close by and then rejoin our parents in line and then my friend chickened out right at the front! The ride was worth it though for sure.

I love X2. Its my favorite coaster at the park and probably my number 1 coaster I've ridden so far. I love that out of control feel that it has. I do the same thing to with the harness and leave myself a little room in the seats and if you let your boy just relax and ragdoll it makes the ride so much crazier especially if you sit in the outer seats.

6:24 For the turnaround I think they should orient you face down to give a fun flying effect and view. The seats do 2 back flips and 1 segmented front flip. Why not do another front flip after the turn around? It could flip forwards to face you down for the turnaround and hold that for a short respite with a better view and angle then continue the front flip fast right before the dip, like on the first drop. Then do the backflip just the same on the half twist, would be awesome sequencing.

Okay just had to comment. I think X2 is in my top 3 coasters, although I’m by no means an enthusiast. But 2 impressions that I had (and these contain spoilers for anyone who hasn’t ridden) 1) Magic Mountain does such a good job at this. Yes you get a really good look at it from the entrance, but once you’re in the park, they really hide it from you. Even standing in line, you can’t really see much of the actual ride. And again, speaking as someone who really didn’t know much about it before riding it, the range of movement on it cane as a total surprise. But MM really does this with a lot of their rides, and the element of surprise, although somewhat intangible, really adds to the experience. 2) Yes, the view from the lift hill is magical. Also awesome is the little dip before the first drop. Because it goes from lift hill to this fun little hop (where you’re still facing backwards, kind of in the same position as a La-Z-Boy recliner). It’s all so fun and gentle but the before you know it, you’re flipped around and screaming straight at the ground at 76mph for 200 feet. I mean, before I rode this, I didn’t really know that moves like that were even possible. So yeah, great ride. I was so excited after experiencing it because I figured that’s what all roller coasters would be like after that. Weird only 2 others have been built.

Awesome video! I agree with most of the pros and cons. That first drop is my all time favorite moment on any coaster and the pacing I think is a bit of a weakness which is why I can’t wait to ride Eejanaika, it seems to fix a lot of the problems that X2 has and makes improvements I didn’t even know I wanted!

I agree with pretty much everything you said except with the front row. For me the front row feels the most exhilarating because I don't see the train in front of me and I feel like I'm somersaulting through mid-air. Especially during that amazing initial drop! That still freaks me out no matter how many times I've ridden this coaster, which is about as many times as you have. I'm hoping with the new Six Flags management (current economy notwithstanding) a focus will be placed on bringing back quality by not only adding new major thrill rides, but by also fixing up the ones they currently operate. The last time I was at Magic Mountain (about a month ago before the quarantines began) they were operating two trains. One that had sound and one that didn't. I know I wouldn't see such a thing at a Cedar Fair park, let alone a Disney or Universal park. This goes back to the quality mantra I have for Six Flags. If they want to escape their obvious upcoming bankruptcy, they need to spend money. And fast.

One of my favorite memories is of this coaster. In elementary school, you could get a free ticket to a park if you read a certain amount of hours. The first couple years I was too short for most of the rides, so despite doing the reading, I didn't go. My last year, I was in 5th grade, and I *finally* hit 54". I was deciding which park to go to when a documentary about the coaster came on. I was hooked! For days before the trip I was reminding my mom, *we have to get on X2, we can't forget X2, I can't wait to ride X2.* This was right after the remodeling. You had to take a ticket to ensure you didn't cut the line. Most importantly...the line closed an hour before the other lines in the park. We found this out five minutes before it closes and ran from Tatsu. We were too late. But! As luck would have it, a stranger asked why twelve year old me was bawling her eyes out-and knew of a Del Taco promotion that let you stay after hours *just to ride X2!* The night was saved. My mom and I rode three times consecutively, and it is the best coaster I've ridden to date.

Had my first two rides on X2 today!!! Had to come straight back to this video to unpack it. INSANE. Got a front and a back row ride, and I fully agree, especially about the calves taking a beating. Not many coasters can make me shout out loud in celebration, but I was living my best life out there at the mercy of that beast. Easily the most extreme coaster I’ve ridden. P.S. because of the new policies for the reservation period, lockers aren’t a thing right now and bags just go on the floor, and i walked right on after it came back up, so I had a PERFECT first impression in that back row.
