X2 is an unbelievable roller coaster built by Arrow Dynamics, which officially opened in the public in early 2002. The project ended up being so costly and problematic that it caused Arrow to go bankrupt. The ride remains the only one of its kind in the Western Hemisphere, and is an absolute beast to conquer. The ride features unique rotating seats throughout the experience that causes riders to do various flips and rotations across a variety of elements.

Went on this when I was 12, opening year. My experience up til then, living in Vegas, was Canyon Blaster, Manhattan Express and the now closed Speed at the Sahara. Then we finally made it to Magic Mountain. My dad and I bolted to X2 when the park opened and still waited 30 minutes. We jumped in the back row, strapped in and headed up the lift amazed at the view. What followed next was a string of profanities flying out of my mouth that no parent should ever have to hear their child say. The picture was me screaming qnd my dad looking at me crying from laughing. There may be a battle over love it or hate it. But it's hands down my favorite ride.

I first rode X2 in 2022. And yeah the same thing happened with me only I was sitting next to my cousin. All the profanity came out of my mouth. Especially the first drop.

I personally love the outside seats. I ride this ride because I want it to feel as out of control as possible. The outside seats just fling you around like a rag-doll and I think it is just brilliant. Painful? Slightly, but still just so insane it is worth it.

X2 is the most extreme roller coaster I've ever been on. Went on it for the first time years ago with my teen cousin, and we both just had this shell-shocked look on our face afterwards. In the final brake run, I look over, and he just starts laughing uncontrollably. In his words, "X2 is the only ride I've ever been on, where I get nervous everytime I go on it"

Great review! Arrow will be missed-They had so many contributions to the industry. But Alan Schilicke is one heck of a designer, a true legend. X2 looks awesome, but if I ever get the chance to ride it, you can be sure as heck that I’m going to fight for the inside seat😂this is definitely one of the most polarizing coasters among enthusiasts.

I'm honestly just happy that you rated it better than how you rated it in your last review. The roughness of the ride kind of makes it feel more intense in a way that's unexplainable. For example, I rode it around the middle of the train, and my legs just flopped everywhere like a dead fish. It's just such an amazing ride that everyone should do when they get to the park. Its a little sad though, knowing that you're riding what caused Arrow to be bankrupt.

I'm under 120 lb and my right leg got flung over the separator in the final twist going into the brake run (outside seat). I went to magic mountain for the first time today. I rode this at the very end, sunset, with a fastrack to skip the 90 minute wait. I rode it on row 2 on the outside seat. I loved the whole ride. I was blown away. The onboard audio wasn’t working, but the flamethrowers were and they caught me off guard!! At the end with the last element, my legs just, as others in this comment section put it, “flopped like a dead fish”. It was an amazing end to my day 👍👍

I went on it for the first time yesterday morning (11/25/22). I'd been watching videos and researching about this coaster because this one coaster terrified me based on all the ways other enthusiasts describe it. I went to SFMM 4 days in a row and didn't ride X2 until the last day of that trip and I regret not doing it earlier! I loved the experience! I was sitting on an INSIDE seat in the 2nd row on the left side (right side when sitting on it facing backwards). The queue, waiting at the station, the slow backwards lift hill, and that head-first pre-drop as the train gradually leaves the chain all made me feel nervous. However after taking that first drop, that nervousness turned into excitement and I enjoyed the rest of the ride! It definitely wasn't a smooth ride, but I think that wobbliness and rocking adds to the unique charm that makes it X2. I wish I could've done it again but it was my last day in LA and the line was way too long. It definitely won't be my last ride though, I will return to X2 hehe...

Taylor, the established titles sponsor is a scam that is now coming to light. I recommend you trim the sponsor from the video and cut ties with the company. I recommend you do some research into this, so you know im being honest with you. I’ve watched you for many years and have even met you in person. I've been on over 100 roller coasters and I have ridden X2 probably 15 - 20 times total in my lifetime and this coaster still intimidates me a bit, and I don't get nervous on roller coasters. It's such a vulnerable feeling going up the lift hill backwards and having no idea when you will hit the top. Then going down the drop face down in that position is absolutely bonkers. The entire coaster is such a disorienting but amazing experience all around. You are right about how difficult it is to reride. I can do two rides in a row max before I need to take a break. This ride takes so much out of you. But I do love this thing though. Top ten material for sure.

I made this my 150th credit today and was blown away by it. I rode car 5 on the outside, my brother on the inside, and I loved it, possibly ore than Twisted Colossus. I haven't ridden X2 a second time because the ride had a 3+ hour wait after, but I think I might prefer the outside even if I get an inside seat ride due to the extra out-of-control feeling it seems comes with the outside seats.

Great video! I rode this thing a week ago - my first time at MM. Wow! I was totally blown away by this ride. Its SO intense! I had a back row ride (outside seat) and then a seat midtrain (again outside seat). The latter was very rough! This coaster is now firmly in my top 5: (SV, I305, X2, Ride to Happiness, The Voyage). Given what you've said, I really need to get out to Japan now!

I love this ride so much! On my last visit a year ago, I kept going back into the station, basically getting on every other cycle, 13x in about 2 hours. I could've kept going. They were letting us leave our loose articles on the floor next to the gates. X2 has been my # 1 before. It's somewhere in my top 7 now. When entering the final raven turn, I put my hands behind my neck to avoid that whiplash, and that works perfectly.

@@GDNebula_ I did behind the neck, but behind the head should also work, as it serves to stabilize the head for the forces. I would keep my head forward a bit for more wiggle room. Before learning about this trick, I would lean my head far forward, which does throw the head more, but it kept it from being thrown into the back of the seat. If only that 2nd raven turn was like the first, which is straight from heaven.

I rode last month for the first time to both magic mountain and California and I couldn’t bare the roughness. I didn’t mind the layout but the roughness gave me a migraine for the rest of the day (it was the first ride of the day) so I’d rate it a 4 for character and for being such an icon.

Excellent review. I’m 37….my first job ever in high was six flags the year X opened. Now 20 something years later my 8 year old daughter is absolutely obsessed with it! Since she was 7. Still can’t believe I look over to my right and see her sitting on that beast next to me. Only thing for me……anything past the 4th row is hell. Very rough and unenjoyable unless you love walking around with a messed up neck.

I went on this for the first time in 2004, was blown away, then again in 2010 when it was X2. I sat on the outside seat front row and again I was blown away. I was 52 then. Here I am nearly 64 and I'm itching to get on this beast again, but this time it'll be in the middle on the inside seat! Truly amazing ride. I can watch this thing operate for hours on end, it's nearly as fun as riding it. I give it a 9.9!

I am young at heart, I love stuff like rides, etc. Makes me feel like a kid. Some folks, even older ones like me never got over it!!! And you won't either! Embrace it!!! Yay!

I mean back in 2002 when this thing opened, nothing was like X2. Nothing in the world even came close to resembling this coaster, and Arrow Dynamics really lived up to their reputation that they were super innovative for their time. They were the manufacturer to always go to when you needed a steel coaster. And X2 is one of their masterpieces. So ahead of its time over 20 years ago, and while it bankrupted Arrow Dynamics, this was a worthy final coaster for them. Still hard to believe that X2 is over 20 years old, which it stil looks modern to me.

Rode this back in highschool when it was the x. Thought the flames looked just dumb while waiting in line but after being thrown around and disoriented somehow those flames were just the cherry on top. This is probably the greatest ride ever just because of how innovative and disorienting it is. Only contender in my book would be steel vengeance at cedar point which isn't as innovative but incredibly fun throughout.

Since I’ve been on X2 13 times, I usually am the one to sit on the outside seat. Most people I go with, I save them from the brutality of that final raven turn. My most recent visit was brutal. I love the ride, but it is a whole different kind of crazy that has to be experienced to truly understand.

I just went on this nightmare machine for the first time yesterday, top 5 for sure! We brought my new beanie thinking it would stay on, nope! It flew off right on the raven turn and was yeeted into the valet restricted parking lot. On the way out of the parking lot however, we decided to sneak in the lot and see if we could find it. Sure enough, it was right there laying flat on the wet concrete. That hat has been through a lot and reminds me every time I put it on of an experience I will never forget!

Established Titles isn’t legally recognized by Scottish law, so you can’t actually buy a tiny piece of land and thus legally call yourself a lord or lady. I'm from NY and I flew out to LA recently for a West coast music cruise on Halloween...the cruise was leaving on November 3, so the plan was to go to 6FMM on one of the 2 days we had in LA, the other day Knotts...well, there was an unexpected problem!! Starting on November 1, the park was closed on all weekdays!! What a bummer!! I felt like the Griswolds in National Lampoon's Vacation, they drive all the way to LA to Wally World (the actual 6FMM) & John Candy tells me "sorry park's closed!!" in real life!! One day.... And as for Knotts?? Nope, both too expensive & cloudy rain overcast...also didn't get to Sea World San Diego either...it was so chilly!!!

My 8 year old son loved HangTime at Knotts and wanted to try some bigger coasters. So we went to Magic Mountain and went on X2, and he said he had to close his eyes and didn't want to do it again. Then we went on Goliath, Twisted Collosus, and Apocalypse, and he said he wanted to do X2 again so he could keep his eyes open. He loved it the 2nd time.

@randyobando1836 It is a VERY intense ride, no question. There is nothing to be worried about except for your 8 year old being freaked, but I was nervous for my son to do it as well as he's pretty small at 4'1" and around d 50 lbs. Still glad we did it. He ended up loving it.

Does anyone know how to ride this with no pain? Should I keep my head against the head rest and legs glued to seat and ride inside on front row (the farther to the right seat) and keep my hands behind my head or neck

Love your videos and completely understand why you need sponsors. But just a tiny amount of research would have shown you Established titles is a complete scam. Please stop having them as a sponsor or your followers might just assume you are knowingly pushing scams to rip them off. That being said, X2 is my biggest bucket list for coasters.

Here's a tip for anyone riding X2. If you're able to, put your feet on the seat like you're crouching. It completely eliminates all the leg banging

I feel like the very back outside seats is still smoother than the front inside seat. I've been riding this nearly 20 years and it still leaves me disoriented until the slow drawn out turn that I actually don't mind that part. It's the breather I need before the finally. This amazing ride is still my #1 till this day

Magic Mountain is my home park so I've gotten to experience X2 in plenty of different ways. I feel like Taylor's review covered an important part about this ride which is the amount of variables needed to get a good ride experience on this. First or last row, inside seat, music working, and fire working, that is the best possible ride experience and it is incredible if you get it. However, outside seat, middle row, no music or fire, and this is a completely different ride. The variability is such a big issue for me when comparing this thing to other rides. If you need a checklist to get a good experience and you're not guaranteed to get it, I don't believe it could be seen to be better than a different ride that has a more consistent ride experience.

Honestly I have tried rows that aren't the front or back, they aren't really bad, still had an amazing ride. I still need to try the outside seat, but inside feels butter smooth with the exception of the seat bouncing.

My first ride on this was back row, inside, at night, and it left me speechless, because I had no way of describing what just happened. Wouldn't trade that for anything. After some more rides, I wish I could find a way not to get a sharp whack to the head on the second raven turn, because that really limits the re-rideability for me.

I eventually got to ride this coaster back in 2017 (I lived in NorCal near SFDK) and I was so shocked afterwards. I sat on the outside because I was with my sister and I didn’t want to have her first ever X2 ride be on the outside so I took the bullet and MAN that was crazy. At the last turn before the final breakrun my feet literally got thrown outside of the seat and were just hanging off the side lol, first time in my life where I got scared from a rollercoaster. Was worth the 7 hour drive though lol
