ya make it look SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO easy... been watching your videos to get the freehand technique down. I was taught laywire... been out of it a lil while and now, 50% of the time, the bottom is flat as a pancake... By code it is acceptable, However, i want more reinforcement. last thing i want is suck back on the hot pass. just got tig fingers to help as well. so now ill be doing 5/32 gap with 1/8 wire. had a bunch of coupons tqcked up with 1/8 gap and tried 3/32 wire... gotta long way to go... lol shaky.

Another excellent video, thanks for all the effort. 🙏 I asked previously if it is possible to zoom out, to see your hand position and how you feed the rod. You nail it exactly around the 8th minute. 🔨 🔥🔥🔥 There are many Freehand Root videos on Tube, most of those speed up during the process and astonishing end results. Maybe even cheated and done on the positioner? 🤔😃 Those videos frankly confused me more instead. I find your videos better, always on point and VERY helpful. Again thanks for sharing.
@X3MTIG2 жыл бұрын
Hey my friend, I’m glad you like it. I’m not sure about other KZbin video creators, but it’s easy to see if someone is cheating by looking for the root layout pattern!

I freehand all the time. i don't know how to walk the cup. probably due to lack of piping in the shop. I keep the torch pointing towards the center of the pipe. I have around 1/8" gap and 3/32 rod and tungsten. I use a thumb control rather than a foot pedal. I keep my rod 1/2 way in and out. anything I could change?
@X3MTIG2 жыл бұрын
If it’s working for you no need for changes, but if you would like to experiment, try walking the cup at the bottom.

I’ve noticed all the ‘crust’ in the root inside… No way to add a back purge of gas? The root looks good but I wonder why there’s no back purge which will make that root last longer and not corrode so soon… Any reason? Thanks, great videos by the way.

It's carbon steel. No purge required on carbon steel.

@X3MTIG Жыл бұрын
