Another tip is while in scan mode look for the dark orange nodes. A single shot will destroy the node and shoot out resources. Recycling the shift 2 scan will repopulate nodes. You can fill up a M miner with just shooting a few nodes. The asteroids provide a lot more yield than what the scans say doing this, and faster than trying to mine the whole rock.

I will have to look for those. I only just bought the game due to the major sale so due to the game not giving enough of a tutorial I had to give up and start watching videos to try and figure out how to not just fly around making 20k from a single mission over the course of a few hours. I'm going to restart my current run in hopes of getting a better overall start and grasp on the game.

I really wish there was something that made it more obvious that the long range scanner you needed to hold down a button to do something with it. Also I kept leaving things without picking them up because I would click on them and it would just say "ore" or "cargo" but there wasn't an obvious way of picking it up and also if you push the cargo button but don't hold it it just says "turning on" then immediately says "turning off" so I just didn't understand. When I played Elite Dangerous you had to open up your cargo door and scoop the things up so I assumed a similar mechanic but eventually gave up and am now watching all of your tutorials.

I'm very new at the game, so I might have missed something. But I can't find a place where I can buy a small or medium ship ! All the places I've seen sell only L and XL mining ships. I'm confused.

XL and L ships are bought at the shipyards, what you want to find is a wharf, where you can purchase M and S ships.

No, the updates you get are free every time they release dlc. Only ships and sectors realistically are additional
