X4 Foundations: 7.0 Beta 5: What it takes for a boron fleet to duplicate the Raptor and friends

Hello everybody,
Dispite my Raptor and its "birds" valiant efforts, the xenon invasion was still underway.
So, I thought to give them a breather and test some alternative fleets, this time, the boron one.
Fleet composition:
1 Shark + 64 interceptor Mako
10 Rays on defend
1 Orca + 20 interceptor Tresher + 20 torpedo Hydra on bombard
as an alternative to Raptor + 60 torpedo Chimera + 40 interceptor Chimera, and like you might saw in the last clip, those 100 fighters can be either interceptors or bombers.
Notes:
- I'm not a fan of 7.0 shaky cam
- all gunboats are vulnerable to fighter swarms. Threshers have a bit better survival rate that others, but still, lost 5.
- 7.0 will bring us search and rescue of bailed crews. Good to play on my protective side towards my zero and ones subordinates Egosoft... :P And they really like that time sink elements, don't they? :P
So, sorry for the dead times in combat footage, but I must rescue the poor bastards. :P
Either way, as for what I do with them:
- if they don't have much stars they retire
- rescued crews gain morale, so those with high morale go to group training at my HQ (one of terraforming tasks allow the player to group train pilots up to 4 stars)
- those with high engineering, go to serve as service crew.
So, with this new mechanic, if you start a terraforming project, and start building an aerial maze, you will never be short on trained pilots. Too bad that this did not come with the posibility to mass asign pilots to wings of ships. :( Imagine being able to asign 40 four stars pilots to your newly build interceptor wing. :D Also a mass fire personnel button would not hurt.
For a tip, avoid including marines in the crew of ships that you won't be using for boarding. I did this, because for my builds, I start with high preset, and that include half of the crew as marines, and I was forced to fire them one by one. In fact, I would say, don't buy crew at all, you can use the rescues to fill the service crew slot, and just transfer in bulk to other capital ships when you have a surplus.

You can mass-fire personel on ship. Move the slider with them to the left, they will show as "unassigned" and there is small trashcan icon to mass fire all unassigned. (If that's what you are talking about)

Found it. 😁 Damn, that's amazing, began firing bunches of 120 marines like there is no tomorrow. 🤭 Thanks man, guess that with X4 UI, there is something to learn everyday.🤓

I suck at knowing cannon or much about the game tbh I went custom mode so I could learn fleet management now just have to learn mining and trading

..best use for gunboat IMHO is parked on top of a L Ship, turrets set to attack all enemies. With a jian that's 6x extra flak 😎 works on Asgard too. For having a larger number of trained pilots or marines ready i assign them to empty Atlas XL ships right after flight school. Put that on auto trade and pick it up when you need them. Enjoy 🍺😁

Yeah, I know, I'm not crazy about them either, but my aux ships need M interceptors, and I do want to include all ship types in my fleet composition, at least those that have destroyers.😐 No destroyers, means no need for aux ship, no aux ship, no need for active M ships. I thought that placing crew on aux ships trick works only for increasing engineering stars? 🤔For piloting and boarding, they still need group/individual training? 🤨

@@ragnos28 ...yep, group training comes first. Atlas with 250 crew makes a great flying crew hotel. Also works with Marines - 200 4* and a specialized group of M ships with ion guns etc. can capture anything 😁

@@Mondfischli I see. Well, I'm yet to have 100 group trainees max, and I intend to stop when I reach that number, I will just retired the rescued crew, no matter their stars, after that. As for marines, I've colected about 25 five star elites on a Syn that I use for boarding, but abandoned my plan to have 100 elites, because I don't see many targets worthy of being boarded, I already have the max of 2 Asgards that I need in game, and all the other ships I can either build or buy. I used to enjoy liberating Behemoths from the SCA, but now I just blow them up. 😈

@@ragnos28 ...waah, the SCA are my friends 😂 They gave me a couple of modded Phoenix and Behemoths including top * crew for terraforming scale plate green 😁 Their plunderer still harass my trade ships sometimes but never attack. Stations trade normal + some special wares. Asgards I have a few, they almost retired😂 after the Avarice chapter. But make good khaak Busters when their stations pop up. Smaller ships get to much entangled and small fighters a total loss. P S. my Xenon are extinct since the Terra chapter.

@@Mondfischli They do sometimes make me laugh, like when I'm on my Asgard and they ask me to drop my cargo. 😂 And I'm like...sure buddy, just let me align that dot with your ship, you know...to beam you the wares. 😅

I like the Ray, is the best corvette in the game (has the firepower of one too). 😁 I remember that I did some calculations back in the day, a Behemoth with L plasma have 700% more dps than a Ray. 🤓
