You should not just right click and send your ships to be sold. Instead, send them to be upgraded, that way you can strip them of parts and consumables. I once captured a ship that had 3 advanced satelites, those are worth more than the ship itself. Then after you have sold consumables and stripped the modules you can sell the ship.

Seems to be bugged and not paying full price for components and consumables when selling a ship. Hopefully, a patch will include the price of components and consumables, even at a discount, as it saves the player a good bit of time.

In previous x games I mounted half my weapons as ion cannons. Ion cannons don't damage hull but they do reduce pilot morale and eventually he'll bail leaving a high hull target. If he has weapons still on the ship his morale won't go down very fast so look for a low damage weapon to try and crit the weapons off before you go ion only. Haven't tested it yet in x4 but since crew have morale stats I assume it still works. Saves a ton of time on repairs but it does take a while to drive down morale.

The teladi equipment dock in the upper right (the one all by itself just adjacent to the southeast of one with a Capital and a wharf shipyard, tends to give like 100-200k over what all other argon/teladi shipyards buy ships for, not sure if its the best, but its a good note)

Did you happen to sell teladi ships? Because when I sold paranid ships, I checked prices on all wharfs, including teladi, and after I checked it all, the paranid paid the most for their own ships.

the request to surrender is on a 30second timer...every 30 seconds there is a chance when you ask him to surrender he'll bail. You dont have to get the hull near to destruction just at or below 75% and the shields below....i think 20%? anyway get the hull to 75% then just evade to his blind spot and keep the shields down and pester him till he jumps. I also part the ship out first then sell it I loop around the inter highway is usually enough for sec security to drop aggro ..for me

Something else to note, if you find a corvette/frigate/bomber abandoned in space dont spacewalk to claim a ship, as you cant enter it via eva, or transfer a captain while its out in space

Sometimes the marine will be shy and just endlessly orbit the prize ship and almost never capture it. You can force the capture however by selecting the boarding pod from the property tab on the map screen and right clicking on the abandoned ship then select attack.

Actually you can leave the sector and the circling marine will finish the job and capture the ship.

You can also just put marines on board your own ship, and right click it and hit CLAIM, the marine will launch and do it for you. Then you tell them to go to a repair dock and get all fixed up. EDIT. I guess I should have watched more video first. You cover the marines. Same goes with boarding a capital ship though. Make sure you have more marines than it has crew. However having one more may not be enough if your entire crew of marines only has 1 star efficiency. Standard Capital ships seem to have an average of 2-3 star. I don't know the math but if they have a crew of 29, use about 35 marines and you should win. Good luck and fly safe

You don’t have to dock the ship to sell it. Select the ship, open the map, right click the station and click sell.

If you killed the escape pod you would have gotten the drop and still be able to claim the ship. The exact same thing happened to me in Teladi space, thanks for the tips!

I too want to know how to do this in the middle of a dogfight. I think you can right-click on the target in the cockpit or in map view but kinda hard to do while maneuvering the ship.

Nice video but i don't think capturing ships is that good for early game income, the easiest way to make money early game is Crystal mining... I pull up to 3 million credits in under 30 minutes...

Can you sell ships that's in a carrier? Because if you sell the ships while your pilot drive it, I think you lose that pilot. Just resign the pilot to the carrier so you can take pilot with it gain exp. Also have you try boarding ship instead having your prey ejected from their ship?

Well, I just attack the Holy Order of the Pontifex in their home systems, and I take care to not kill their pilots. Worked pretty well for me. I actually streamed the game last night, capturing ships for about 4 hours, in HOP space.

I have no idea. I think the lawless factions such as Hatikvah's League, and the Scale Pact are the ''pirates''. But you're just going to have to take sides in this game.

I haven't played this game at all today. I haven't been feeling too well. But in about an hour I'll start up a stream and play 2-3 hours, and maybe in that time I'll obtain a corvette or a frigate and give boarding a try. I kinda know the basics of boarding from X Rebirth, but I don't know if it's the same here.

Very useful info. I have been doing the same thing pirating HOP traders but they never wanna open coms with me to get them surrender. I will try this. I also wanted to launch marines and board a M freighter but the option isnt there. It only lets me launch a boarding party again L or bigger ships. So hopefully this allows me to cap smaller ships

I can confirm that M ships are captured by damaging their morale to the point they don't even want their ships anymore. The fastest way to do it is to quicksave, go full murder-mode on them with the machine guns, and if they eject and then the ship gets destroyed from your remaining salvo, just reload and repeat.

Well, if you can find pilots with good mining and trading skill, you can build your wealth solely from having a fleet of miners working tirelessly in asteroid belts.

That is not a bug. They're 2 bugs. There's this mission where you transport one person from one station to another, but when that person disenbarks, he just gets stuck on the outside. And I've done that mission twice. So 2 people are clipping through each other in outer space. If egosoft doesn't fix this problem soon, I'll have to sell this ship and buy another to get rid of those lollygaggers.

No signal in X3, you simply flew close enough. I captured plenty of ships in all 3 X3 titles, sadly they nerfed the Xenon L in the later 2 games.

Have you noticed that when send your marines in pods to board, there is an actual person just standing outside the pod? broken ass game, i dont belive any of its systems work as intended. Its a great game, but damn egosoft release their games in garbage state.
