Been running the x56 pro for almost a year and it just clicked in my head for strafe controls set to C stick roty button. I switched it up and it feel much more responsive. Thank you!

You should start with the default settings they have in Star Citizens, then move things around to suit your style of flying. If you ask ten people for their bindings, you will get ten different results. Its best to customize it to your own needs.

I'll admit, I never wanted to like Logitech products, but they developed pretty decent gaming equipments over the last years. I Just recently bought a G402 Logitech mouse for 30 bucks and I'm very happy with it. They nailed the golden balance between affordable prizes and a good gaming experience.

Why is it that you don't want to like Logitech products? Just curious really. I have a Logitech Extreme 3D Pro from somewhere around 2005, which still works quite well! Happy to see them making some new sticks :)

@@Zerrados Because I don't like big companies in general and couple of years back Logitech products were really crappy and badly designed, so we started out on bad terms. Over the recent years they made a fine comeback and managed to convince me. So my next gaming set will be from Logitech.

I really like this throttle on the side next to my VKB HOSAS for cruising/big ship situations. It also has a lot of extra buttons and axes and "switches" which is awesome for SC. I can lock/unlock, open/close doors easily, turn systems on/off with those "switches". The good thing about these switches is your brain recognizes them as switches but because they are actually just double buttons, they are compatible with most things in most games, unlike real switches.

Thanks for the video. Been lookin for a better HOTAS setup to replace the T.16000 throttle, that i dislike. That T.16000 stick works fine thou. Had a look at the Warthog combo with stick, but that has no twist. Just like the Hornet and Viper sticks. The Virpils are way out of my budget, so that new 2022 Logitec X56 seems a good replacement. I will keep the T16000 stick, so i can dabble with a dual stick setup.

I own the X56 HOTAS and I while I do love it I decided to switch to dual Virpil T50 joysticks. I made that switch based on the current flight model and the ability to get better strafing. But I'm not so sure I will need dual sticks after the new flight model comes out. If the new flight model handles the way I think it will, I may switch back to my X56. In fact, I like it so much, I may just make room for it on my desk so I can use both setups depending on which ship I'm flying.

I have used the Logitech Extreme 3D Pro joystick for decades but with SC I wanted to try out a HOTAS and the blue X-56 is what I got and love it. The throttle was stiff even on the lightest setting but after a few weeks it suddenly got looser. But if I let it sit too long, say a couple of weeks or so without using it, it gets stiff again for a little bit. Not really a big issue for me. I suspect it is the grease inside.

I'm sure a lot of people have mentioned it, but I don't think that the twist function is meant to be applied to the roll input. Everywhere I've seen, and just through common sense, the roll input is applied to the X axis on the joystick. Use the twist axis for yaw, and I guarantee you will have a more accurate and immersive experience.

@@chawkes70 Late reply, but I think you want to bind the buttons in your HOTAS software to match MNK key bindings in Star Citizen. So it is essentially registering as a MnK entry.

I just picked up the T.16000 Flight Control System and love it!! It will take me some time to get used to the pedals but I really enjoy it! P.S. I have my pedals set up for yaw control, and the stick is set up for roll (left and right). Maybe I'll give your set up a try and see if it makes flying a bit easier.

Love, love, lover the x56 for Star Citizen and Elite. The only downside is that the stick has terrible ergonomics (and I've got pretty big scoops for hands). When the you reach with your thumb for the hats or secondary fire button it forces you to pose your hand in such a way that it significantly weakens your ability to twist for yaw. I've been totally cool with that for general gameplay but as soon as the new flight model drops and I can start taking combat more seriously I'll be splashing out on some rudder pedals so I can move yaw from the stick to the pedals (I know a lot of people would prefer to roll with their feet but that just doesn't work with my brain), and free up my ability to use the thumb controls. Also I wish it had a bit of a forward lean when at it's zero position as being just straight up forces your pinky into a really awkward position where it has to rest on top of your fourth finger (but then that goes for most sticks). Another thing that's pretty cool is having those two analogue mouse nubs. It's so nice being able to have strafe vertically and horizontally on one stick and have a low sensitivity strafe forward and backwards on the other for manoeuvring when landing.

Great review Montoya! Love being a part of Test Squadron :) I do have an X56 and one thing I have not been able to do yet is to figure out how to assign the rotary switches on the throttle to anything. Do you know the best way and what you would normally assign them to?

So for me the Logitech Extreme 3D Pro joystick was what I used for a long time. But then I got into SC and other sims then started looking more at a hotas but I was on a budget then I saw the X56. How ever most reviews were not going well for it as it had a lot of wiring problems. Along with parts breaking I feel Logitech put some time into the mini sticks I dont feel I could snap them. I also dont feel Ill snap the front 2nd trigger like a tooth pick. For me the X56 worked out price and button config wise as I am a lefty with probably the most crazy set up were I fly right handed and use throttle, mouse, and keyboard with my left. XD So all the buttons on the throttle is amazing!

I've always assigned my controls to roll with side ways movement and yaw with the twisting motion of the stick. I have however started using my old gaming keypad (Logitech G13) for my left hand and a mouse in my right... and while it is not conventional, at all... in dog fighting, my cross-hairs stick to the target like shit on bed sheets. The reason for my trial change, is that I hate transitioning between devices in a single game, who controls an FPS-toon with HOTAS? lol

I love my Logitech G-13/Mouse combo. When set-up correctly it is awesome and currently is my main go-to. I'm going to delve into using a 3D Mouse once the new flight model is released. By using the 3D Mouse, I can completely handle all of my flight controls with one hand, including FPS movement with analog control of walking speed. It will also free up my right hand to use my mouse solely for gimbal control, interface interactions, etc.

@@GarikDuvall G13 is actually really easy to set up, the software is straight forward and simple. Personally, I've just mapped the buttons individually... there is no preset loadout for SC on the G13 that I'm aware of.

Yes! In the options menu (hit "Escape") got to "Keybindings" (second tab on top right), then go "Advanced Controls Customization" (bottom, second tab on left), then hit "Control Profiles" (bottom, second tab on the right). The top option in that menu is "Save Control Settings." You would then use this same menu to import back your control profile...

Both light fighters, I like that the Arrow has a lot of missiles for a small ship... but testing them back to back for a week now, I still love and rate the Buccaneer above all. The glass cannon that relies on a decent pilot to get the most out of it. Will probably try the Arrow again after they fix its handling.

@@Nemoticon Buccaneer is an interceptor. Designed for fixed strong weapons and speed at the expense of pure agility and durability. Arrow is a light fighter with less speed, less firepower, better agility and durability. Not saying you cant play the Bucc as a light fighter but it's not it's role. Wont be as good as the Arrow or Gladius.

Thank you for this review. I wanted to wait till SC is a bit more... let's say complete before getting into the question if I want to have a Joystick for flight situations. And I always had an eye on the Logitech HOTAS setup. (I like Logitech). Now I am even more excited to get one. :) The question is if Logitech (or another provider) will release a new model 2019/20? Yes i also bought this stick doesn't come with software or any setup guides how to get this stick up and working. Looked on youbube and nobody has setup guide out of box and getting stick calibrated etc for games.

why cant you just change the roll to the stick in bindings? I couldnt do twist for roll. I have no pedals and Z axis is standard for yaw i flight sims, it should be able to be the same in SC.

You can, but there is no atmospheric lift in space, so rolling into a turn is pointless.

@@MontoyaTEST I hope so, because the toggles and mini sticks mad catz used are garbage internally, over half of my toggles cant be used because of internal shorting & the mini sticks are also prone to internal shorting that manifests as a lot of noise at 0 position causing unpredictable behavior often. I still use it though because the overall design imho is brilliant and works exceptionally well with SC & ED (& other similar games).
