Ordered from the Amazon link and sad to say the box arrived today missing the AC adapter and the IR extender. Bad Start. Obviously this box builder is not checking shipments. Beware, I'll choose from another builder.

When purchasing this product make sure the internal storage is what is advertised. Also be aware that it is prone to crashing when using 3rd party builds on kodi

i tried to remove the pre-loaded kodi & it seems to be gone however the large KODI icon is still in the main menu but doesnt work. I installed my own kodi + build but after staring it up it shuts down & kicks back out to the main menu. Anyone who how to fix this? Thank you. Matt

I got one from Amazon didnt have the ir extender but it dos have Bluetooth on mine. I know this as I've connected my phone to it and sent my music from my mobile to the x96 Max Box. Mine also has a LCD display on the front of the box. This box is great with the Rii+ USB keyboard and a Air Mouse remote.

You can speed the box up very easily goto droids settings then box build click on this this 7 times you will see developer options pop up get out go back into the developer options you will see the top three options say one turn these off then restart your box. Your box will be even quicker which is already a quick box. Enjoy.

Usually on these boxes you can't customize the default launcher, but if you add a new launcher you should be able to switch to that new launcher as your default which of course you could customize.

Don't need a smart TV - this becomes your smart TV. Just need an hdmi port to plug it into on your TV. Don't need any other Android device.

HF, do you know how the Kodi stays updated? Will they provide updates service URLs, or will I have to keep those libraries update by myself?

I honestly don't know. I ASSUMED that would be up to me. I mean, Kodi itself updates a lot of stuff. Everytime I open it, the first minute or two it's updating various libraries so I believe Kodi handles that.

my internet speed is 100mb, i do the ookla app test on my phone and laptop and i get 95mb. but through the x96 when i use the app it only gets 7mb at best..... please help! thanks

I'm doing this by memory, but you go into settings and then I think version or something that would show the current software update. Then you click check for update - I think there was an option there to do OTA or use downloaded update. If that doesn't help you figure it out, lemme know and I"ll go in and see the exact steps.

I have one of these and in the bottom left hand corner of the screen it says "safe mode". What does that mean? Will the box still work okay? How do I get it off safe mode? Thanks.

Try restarting it. Not sure, but safe mode is a special mode you can sometimes restart android into. A box like this shouldn't start in safe mode though.

A lot of Android TV Boxes are pre-rooted. This could be seen as a security risk, but rooting also opens up many things that are natively locked down by Android. But it is normal for many companies to root the boxes as many users see that as a plus/advantage.

I did'nt know this and tried to unroot it but finished bricking the box :/. Then found a vid with three files and managed to bring it back to life. The thing was that this rom was with malicious apps but solved this too. Thks.

Kodi has lots and lots but you have to look up info online on how to use Kodi to get access to those types of things. Probably any channel is possible, but finding it and finding good quality can be hard.

Since the stock ROM is rooted, I don't think you can "unroot" it. it's a complete android operating system in itself, there shouldn't really be a need to cast things from your phone...

This box is sucking the very life out of me.It seems to have so many issues.impossible to watch kodi,especially live tv.What do you mean by update,are you talking about the firmware.If Possible can you please explain in detail how you update this box

It could just be Kodi. I know some people swear by Kodi, but I've had mix success with it. And Kodi recently announced they are discontinuing their Android and Windows Apps and will only make the original XBMC Kodi for XBox. As far as updating the firmware - you have to go into settings and I think it's in "About" - similar to an Android Phone or Tablet and there is a place to "check for updates."

I would not recommend the X96 box until they fix the need for the AMCODEC on off position in kodi. it causes noticeable video frame loss and stuttering at 1080p, i have a bunch of these boxes.... total crap until they come up with a fix for this, has anyone ever figured out how to get it stable with the AMCODEC on in the kodi video settings? (watch a video with it on and then try it with it off you will understand very fast about what i mean.)

That sounds more like a Kodi issue than an X96 issue, especially if it happens on all the boxes... But I am interested and will have to check that out on mine and see what you mean.

it's android 6.. happens on my s912 boxes also.. Any build with the mimic skin seems to work and you can shut the settings off for amcodex in settings, video, acceleration.
