I haven't had an Android phone for a long time now so I'm not sure. I know Android has gotten more secure and restrictive over the last several years so that might not be possible. I'd suggest posting in the Tasker Subreddit with your question - someone might know a way.

If you connect directly to the unit via WiFi and then go into the unit settings (the url to use is in the manual) you should be able to see the model info there I think... As for #2 - I had that same issue. I have a standard DC Power port next to the CarPlay USB. So I have an adapter in that that gives me USB/USB-C ports - generally those CD Power Ports turn off when you turn the car off. So then I bought a USB adapter on Amazon that is like a bridge to the CarPlay USB and removes the power - only carries the data part - then use a separate cord from the DC Power Port USB for the power - and of course, a cord that brings the two together. It sounds complicated, but it's not - once you get the three parts and hook it up, it's just there and now when I shut my car off, it cuts off power to the wireless CarPlay adapter.

If that's the requirement, then yes, that would be correct. BT 5.0+ has been standard on all new phones since at least 2020. Many phone from 2019 would have it as well. Since these bracelets just came out in 2021-22 and use Blue Tooth Low Energy it would be required. Bluetooth 4.2 would use way too much power and a bracelet with that wouldn't last one day on a battery or charge.

I bet! Even here in a couple of super hot days when my car is parked directly in sunlight, that'll happen. Thankfully, it sticks back up easy enough!

I don't have this anymore and I'm trying to remember. I do remember it being a little complicated and kinda feeling like you do about breaking it. But I don't remember if I figured out any tricks or just forced it open.

It SHOULD work with most cars from 2018. BUT when you say it won't connect, does the car not read the Adapter or does the adapter screen come up (where it shows the name of the bluetooth device you need to connect your phone to) but your phone just wont' connect to it? Because if it's the later, then that wouldn't really have anything to do with your car not being compatible and is just an issue connecting your phone to the adapter. Sometimes with the wired to wireless adapters like this, it can take a few tries to get your phone to connect correctly and initiate CarPlay, but once you've got it set up, it works fine. Make sure your Wifi and Bluetooth are on - then after plugging the adapter into your car's CarPlay/AA USB port, watch for the screen to show the "BT Devices - smartBox ####" then go into your phone's bluetooth settings and look for that "smartBox ####" device and select it to connect to it...

Yes - that's primarily what I use it for.

Once you've added in the app, you can easily edit the name.
