Dynasty Warriors 5:XL - Legend of Xiahou Dun 1 - Battle of Xia Pi

The start of my Wei playthrough. This stage immediately becomes easy as soon as the water attack happens. Lu Bu can put up a fight, but with the items I have he's much easier to handle. Since this can potentially be the first stage you play, the game takes it easy on you and has Lu Bu retreat after taking enough damage.

Having Lu Bu as the first boss of a starting character is genius. Imagine someone new to DW5 having fun until getting rekt immediately by a rage mode Lu Bu.

I like how the Overview is like "The cunning of Cao Cao and The might of Lu Bu. Which will decide this battle..." As if they're fighting on the same side.

The first character I played as in the whole series, and is still my favorite to this day

I always get loled how xiahou dun catch an arrow with eye that already have a patch. Same was at DW4. That's pretty ridiculous.

I always skip the water attack so i can get more exp from yuan shu's forces plus in the watered area is weapon an item boxes u can no longer get

2:45 It’s a shame he never got that voice when he was playable. I always felt that Crispin Freeman (who also voices Itachi Uchiha from Naruto, Alucard from Hellsing, and others) was a great voice for him. Shame he never returned to voice him and Guan Yu in DW5 Xtreme Legends and Empires. The new strategist voice sounded too dorky and wimpy, but Guan Yu got Liam O’Brien instead for DW5XL and DW5E, which I think fit him really well. Shame Guan Yu got replaced with Dave B. Mitchell in all subsequent games. Never understood why these voices in particular were so rapidly replaced. I’d imagine it was because of cost. Would’ve been cool if Crispin Freeman voiced Guo Jia when he became playable.

I don't know something just bugs me about him in this game. Especially that cutscene where he's training with Guan Yu. I like him in all the other games but something about him just bugs me with him in 5.

I think this is the first game that shows Xiahou Dun's jealousy towards Guan Yu.
