This isnt Brent Hinds not having a clue about his signature Terror... This is an amp MT uses on the road, in the studio and knows the amp inside and out... Very commendable. Im a proud owner of the 15, but im not sure id spend $1.8k on the amp... Theres just others i want first... But i am stoked to try it at some point... 🤘

First off - as always... absolutely great video and very good demo of what this thing can do! I got mine a couple of days ago and all I can say is wow. I have owned the MT 15 and I have an Archon 100 as well. I was worried it was going to be basically an Archon 100 / MT 15 combination... not even close. I love my Archon but I love this MT100 as well. They nailed it as far as getting what MT was after with the lead channel and the OD channel is definitely a different animal than what I'm used to on most hi gain amps (in a very good way). I like that it really doesn't need a boost pedal (one of the big things about the Archon that people like) but at the same time it takes one well and gives you several good options, especially as you go down in gain (blasphemy!). Keep up the great work Kyle - loving it!

@thenumber1bobo
@thenumber1bobo 9 ай бұрын
@@TudorAdrian Logical fallacy: straw man. I have nothing against eastern-made amps, but Im also not drinking MT and Paul Smiths koolaid to the point of not being realistic. Here are some 50-100W "western-made" amps that sound a lot better based on the demos Ive heard today, all in the same price-point, give or take 10%: ENGL Fireball 100 Victory Kraken 50 Friedman Runt 50 MB Fillmore 50 Victory RK50 (my personal pick) Marshall 2555X Morgan MVP66 Here are some 50-100W "eastern-made" amps that sound at least as good for far cheaper: Marshall DSL100 Peavey 6505 EVH5150 MkIII Laney Ironheart Blackstar HT100 MkIII and if you dont need 50-100W specifically, the list goes on and on, and if you do, for $200-300 more (which at that point you might as well drop if youre already dropping $2k after tax), youre looking at a whole suite of shit that is a better bang for the buck. The MT15 was priced correctly and is awesome. A+ amp. Made in Indonesia, and not worse off for it because it's priced correctly and rocks. HDRX 20: $799, built in Indonesia. Priced accordingly. Archon 50: $999, basically the same features as the MT100, sans one channel and a couple power tubes, also built in....Indonesia. Priced correctly. So yeah, another $850, almost double the price over the Archon, for one more channel, maybe 10 more dB and some increased headroom (which doesn't matter because the clean channel sounds like shit which makes zero sense because the MT15's was awesome), maybe it'd be worth it if the OD channel wasn't carrying the other two, but even it isnt doing overdrive as well as Friedman or Marshall can at that pricepoint. So no, I dont think this amp as it sits with zero features, pretty meh tone on all channels, and a dull aesthetic and cheap build quality (all of their indo amps are, you cant even argue it) is worth the extra $850 in artist royalties. It's ok to critique; businesses are businesses and they dont always get a release right. Everyone's been waiting years for this and the hype is real, and no one wants to say it, but fuck that; Im disappointed and not ashamed of it. Fix the clean channel and drop it to $1600 and were having a conversation.

@@thenumber1bobohey can you expand on what is wrong with the clean channel? Trying to objectively understand so I can better figure out what’s a “good “ clean channel. My reference to good clean is bludotones HPD and dumble SSS- those tones I really love
@thenumber1bobo
@thenumber1bobo 9 ай бұрын
@@sid17391 sure man. Let’s start with this review, when homie (Kyle I think?) pulls out the 594 and starts strumming away on the clean channel. No doubt he likes his action low, and normally on hi gain settings you compensate for the lack Of clean sustain with the gain, so you don’t notice. Now, listen to him play those chords. Hear how they sound “dull?” They have no “push;” no chime. The notes die as soon as they’re picked. Even with the master pulled for the channel boost, he has to say something like “put a little life in it” or something to that effect. This is the hallmark of a scooped EQ low gain clean channel, like many fenders. Thats why you hear everyone talk about how you have to crank a twin reverb to get “that sound.” British style cleans don’t usually have this problem because they’re inherently less scooped, and have more mids to “cut,” and usually more gain to sustain. Hotter British style cleans have a bit more bark and “sing.” Mind you these are generalizations but they’re the best I can do to summarize what I mean when I say this amps clean sounds half-assed. On a truly good clean channel, you should be able to do alot of dynamic control of how much breakup you get with the intensity of your pick attack. The MT100, at least in this review, I mean you can hear him picking pretty hard on those chord strums and there’s no chime or sing at all. You can see it all over his face; that he knows he has to scrape the barrel for something to compliment, hence the comment about “I don’t play weak people music.” If you want a good example of what a really good clean sounds like in this context, listen to channel 1 of an Orange AD30 or the clean channel of a TH30. or a JCM800 with the master high and preamp low. Or hell even the MT15 clean channel with the pull-boost sounds pretty awesome.

These Wes Hauch sound interesting in PRS guitars also in my opinion, reduce some PRS boomer mild mid honk and bring modern tones, though they are a bit dark, kind of neck pickup sounding sometimes. To maintain more PRS tone and yet get more aggression I recommend D-Activators, they have that mid thing going on but better cut

Absolutely love the channel K.B and the cameo by the K9s today! Thought the clean and lead channels sounded great as expected. Just a 100w version of the MT15. The overdrive channel didn’t do much for me unfortunately. Would have liked to see reverb or a multi watt feature to compliment the clean channel and those of us who only play at home. I’ve had my Mesa Roadster since 08 and one of the reasons I find it so hard to part with is the multitude of features. At least for me I need a killer clean and two high gain channels and the roadster has that in spades. I’ve definitely been tempted by the Helix-FM3-QC-Kempers as of late..just feel like I’d spend more time tweaking and searching for tone than playing!

Has a tiny bit of that cocked wah thing, with the thickness (and some of the highs) of a rec. Sounds killer boosted and unboosted. By lord is it a tight amp, lowkey thought a boost might be on during the first half of the drop c riffs.

The price is awesome, I was expecting this to cost more given the success of the MT15. But I have to say I’m a little disappointed there’s no midi and no footswitchable effects loop. Being forced to use the factory footswitch and no ability to turn the effects loop off is kind of lame. And I’m not sure I really have a use for the crunch channel. Maybe I’ll warm up to it, but I think I dig the Archon more than this just because it’s cheaper and I’m not sure this one is head and shoulders above the Archon.

In terms of tone (and tone only - disregard the feature set), how would you compare the MT15 clean and lead to the 100 clean and lead? Which one would you pick, if you could have only one and the wattage/loudness didn't matter?

I prefer this amp for tuning lower than E standards.

I just saw the PRS video was released and knew you’d have a video pretty soon… but man, two hours later! Awesome! I’ve always liked the idea of the TC100 and wonder how this compares… I suspect à far more brutal lead Channel…

I was thinking the best comparison for this amp was the TC100. Amazing amp

Would have preferred two identical lead channels.

The clean and lead channels are cool, but the overdrive channel doesn't really sell me. I'm not particularly interested in the amp anyways, but the overdrive channel doesn't quite do it for me.

Lol down with the thickness hahaha! Play some disturbed riffs! Also that Les Paul in Drop-C is so damn chunky! And that Schecter PT is so sexy!
