You should do a battle of the vertical 2x12’s. Orange vs. Mesa vs. ENGL. I know you’re not the biggest fan of the Orange since it’s a semi open back but give it a chance, I have one and it sounds huge.

I just ordered a Fireball 25. I bought a cheap 1x12 Cab with a V30 on Amazon for less than $200. Looks like I'll be buying this because it sounds great. Not sure how I'm going to hide it from the wife. I'll put a cream back in the single cab and I guess have a spare V30. Maybe I'll attempt to build a cab for it. I have 4 combos and 2 bass combos all solid state so this is my first foray into tubes. Strictly a bedroom player. I'll probably be exiled to another room or the garage. Thanks Kyle!

Worst case, go looking in used gear shops for 4x12s you can find some absolute gems. My 4x12 was $90 and it came with Celestion G12K85s, each one individually sells for more than I paid for the cab.
@NickySayahSina11 ай бұрын
Just switched out the V30 for a Hesu Demon for the top speaker, and... it's different, that's for sure. =) Had to change some settings on the MT15 to get it where I wanted it to be, tone wise. What I really like about the stereo switch is that you can hear the different speakers in isolation and compare them side by side to see what they are bringing to the table. Luckily it wasn't that hard to install; just had a hiccup because the white wire had falling off before I could look at the back of the speaker to see how it was wired up, but I went back to this video and it really helped, since you took a look at the inside of the speaker cabinet. Thanks Kyle!

I have a Mesa 2x12 vertical, speaker set up was originally the stock v30, then switched the top speaker to dv77. I picked up this cab in the video and it definitely sounds punchier, the low end gives far more thump to it. Not sure how much the geometry of the cab design of the Mesa vs Engl changes the sound or the speaker set up itself. But I will say that the moment I ran through the Engl cab it was instantly an improvement, across the board, taming highs, punchy low end, just a very full sounding cab. Running an engl fireball 25 through it.

For the bit about running the Mesa and the Bogner... Since these can do stereo, you can put those cabs next to each other and checker pattern the outputs of the amps, and stack them on top of each other across the tops of both cabs. Speaker manufacturers have different frequency response graphs for their 8 and 16 ohm speakers,so yeah,there is a difference….16 ohm speakers have twice as much wire wrapped around the voice coil as an 8 ohm speaker…it’s thinner wire too….Generally speaking,a 16 ohm speaker will sound a little fuller,with more highs and lows…8 ohms are more mid forward….but with that said,the difference can be pretty small between the two,but yes,there is a difference…

The Engl will have far superior build quality - Better materials, better construction, i.e. proper jointing at the corners, thicker plywood, higher quality plywood, etc. With that said - whether it sounds better or not will be totally up to the end user. If you love your Harley Benton, then there's not reason to look elsewhere at more expensive cabs!
