@@humediyNot just a pilot hole. They make countersink bits that make it easy to get the head flush without splitting. They are in the drill bit isle by all the other drill bits. They come in a set too.

if you drill a small hole where the screws will go, the wood shouldnt split

Cut the tips of your screws. Maybe that will stop your wood from splitting.

Love ur design I’m highly going to use it just one question what if u would have used brad nails instead of screw since u are using wood glue…
@humediy2 жыл бұрын
Ya that would have worked! Might have to do a version two with that.

@@humediy I wouldn't recommend using nails/brads, nor plywood but you could try finishing screws which have don't really have a head. I would probably use a 1x3 (or whatever size is best) of a premium quality hardwood. Not sure if you have a Menards near where you live but they have a excellent selection of different types of premium quality boards. If you pre-drill for the screws and make a counter sink hole that's just bit larger than the head if whatever screw your using then you won't have any issues with splitting and it will look good. Could even go a step farther a fill the counter sink with a dowel and then cut and sand it flush then after you paint you wouldn't see any screw holes/nails holes. Honestly tho if someone went that far with then they might as well get an actual wall bracket off Amazon cause it would probably be cheaper lol

@@pauljohnson1991 the next version might have to be a higher quality just for the sake of building something. Appreciate the advice!
