I accidentally done this yesterday. I tied to pull the silver thing off instead of scratching first. I couldn’t make out 4 numbers. I went on to Microsoft support and told them what happened. I sent the picture of my card and they were able to tell me the code. Super helpful.

@@massudaatta4607 When I done it I was speaking to an AI at first but it put me through to someone who works at the Microsoft support team. What to say it, that you have an Xbox gift card and you accidentally tried to pull the silver thing off first instead of scratching and in result of doing that you can’t make out a few numbers. When I was doing mine they gave me a number to write on the back and front of my Xbox gift card to take a photo and send them it, just for verification. And then it literally took a few mins and they came back with the code.

Today my son scratched too hard on the Xbox gift card. I called the store I bought the card from and they couldn't help. The referred me to Microsoft. I found this vid and tried to come up with the missing characters. I chatted with Microsoft support. They asked me to send a photo of the gift card and receipt. After verifying, the provided me with 25 character code. Moral of the story don't let ur 13 year scratch the gift card code.

years ago I bought an XBox gift card that had all the correct numbers and it didn't work, when I called xbox support and they asked for the numbers support asked me where I lived, I said I was in Canada; they told me that the card was an American code, obviously got shipped to the store here in Canada by accident and they gave me a whole new code by phone, not even asking me to send them photo's, but I do understand why they require photo proof, but to be treated in such a way made me feel like they were trained to piss off the customer and still and Microsoft still gets paid my $100

I think the Xbox servers were having issues the last 2 days. It looks ok now so you should be able to buy games and redeem codes now. You can always check Xbox server status here: support.xbox.com/en-US/xbox-live-status

Have you tried again? I think the last 2 days there were issues with the Xbox servers. People weren’t able to make purchases or redeem codes. I know it’s a hassle but try it again and see if you can figure out the missing character!

What you need to realize is this first: with B C D F G H J K M P Q R T V X Y Z 2 3 4 6 7 8 9 being the only letters that work with the gift cards that require 25 digits, since your missing 5 of them you need to understand that there is 24 character letters to use and that 5 times 24 is 130, you’d have 130 letters to use as guesses to the code you need to correctly type in. And this is why that can be hard: you see these 5 X’s? X X X X X well take them as the slots you add the letters and numbers in alphabetically to be totally safe on your guesses through out all there can be to use for determining the right missing letters. If the alphabet which has 26 letters in it was missing 5 letters in the way the x box letters can only be used then it’d be wise to alphabetically use them in binary situation where like this: A _ _ _ E _G H I J K L M N O P Q R S T U V W X Y Z needs those 24 letters listed to be used in a segment of using your alphabet A to Z saying fully method as well as your counting 0 to 9 method, so here’s why it can be 130 guesses with a binary configuration: A B C D E F would be right if your supposed to fill in the alphabet properly but since this is a gift cards code, it’s a randomization of those 24 letters so you can be using B as the first letter used 24 times with the other letters and numbers following up after it and if B doesn’t guess the first right letter to use then you have 23 next letters to use next which again includes those only used in gift card certain numbers. So you’ll have to do something like this: B C D F G C B D F G D C B F G F C D B G G F D C B And: B 2 3 4 5 2 B 3 4 5 3 2 B 4 5 4 3 2 B 5 5 4 3 2 B

Unfortunately there is no way to return an Xbox Gift Card especially if it’s been scratched. The only thing you could do is contact Microsoft as mentioned in the video and maybe they could help you. I’ve see a few people comment that Microsoft helped them out but there’s no guarantee. Hope this helps!
