I don't really care one way or the other, but I had to address your last question. These are companies that provide products and services, not individuals to build a personal relationship with. We should call them out when they're at their worst, they don't deserve unconditional support; if their products/services are subpar, that should be reflected by consumer response. That said, if they right the ship and perform well then credit should be given where it's due. Just my $0.02

When the great games start releasing and they can maintain a good quality I'll give it to them. Playstation has been doing a good job at that. Absolutely right. I bought both systems although I absolutely abhor the UI on Xbox it looks like an android app. I loved the 360 more than PS3 but after that I prefer PS. Just my preference. My kids prefer the Xbox so I let them have it in their room. Who cares who likes what. I buy games that are fun I don’t care if Microsoft makes them. Sony makes some crap games too, it happens.

I thought that showcase was EXCELLENT. Literally one of the best they've ever put out. BUT, if you recall the past couple XBOX Showcases have been LEGITIMATELY TOP-TIER, blowing Sony and Nintendo out of the water. I mean, their January 2023 showcase concluded with the shadow drop of Hi-Fi Rush. THE ISSUE IS... Microsoft games have a habit of not delivering. Let's just call a spade a spade. I mean, Hi-Fi Rush is arguably the first and last TRULY GREAT game X-Box has dropped this gen... arguably over the last 2 generations... AND IT STILL LED TO TANGO GAMEWORKS CLOSING. So I don't know how to feel about anything they've shown. I also have NEVER been a fan of faux gameplay, or 2-second snippets of gameplay interlaced with cinematics JUST so you can claim it to be a "gameplay trailer". To ME, a gameplay trailer is an expended uninterrupted look at STRAIGHT GAMEPLAY... Not "in-engine", over-edited scenes sliced into a million pieces like Liam Neeson jumping over a fence. And I don't know if I saw a single game that had enough gameplay for me to make a ruling one way or the other. Everything looked cool... But that's par for the course with Microsoft Showcases, which are HANDS DOWN consistently the best in the business. Finally, I also wonder how many of these game will ultimately be multi-platform.

Xbox's marketing is superb, they just don't know how to deliver. Remember this isn't the first good presentation they've done. PlayStation's State of Play was mostly things coming soon, so there's probably tonnes in the bag they haven't shown off. Don't get me wrong, I want Xbox to deliver. The more great games the better.

Very few to be honest because of the studios who made these games. Gears of Wars, sure that won't come out, Doom, ditto. It's only games trapped in development hell that never gets released or get binned. Two games that nearly died were Shenmue III and Sleeping Dogs. Loyal Sega fans will acknowledge we need the story to be completed. And as for Sleeping Dogs it's one of the best, fun and addictive games that we've ever played. So keep on thinking bad thoughts 💭

They haven't said yet, but they did indicate other Xbox exclusives would go multi-platform. Playstation doesn't seem to have any new worthwhile until next year. There could be some unannounced third-party exclusives on the way before that, but I kind of doubt it.

@@drewtheunspoken3988 I think what they may do is release old games...Gears of War, Halo Master Chief Collection but price it over £60 or £70 and only available digitally in PS store. Sony wouldn't do the same, because if they did, they would be finished. PS1/PS2 games they sitting on include Colony Wars, Speed Freaks, Rule of Rose and more, they would sell millions. But Sony don't care about their fans. We have PS4 ...it's not worth upgrading to PS5 when those discs will work on PS6 which will be probably 2 years away and many companies may have Dev kits already.

Im tired of “Coming Soon”, “Fall 2024”, “2025” with no exact release dates. I prefer PlayStation approach now. Show the game, CG trailer followed by gameplay, and then release date. Concord, LEGO Horizon, Astro Bot, all have gameplay and release date. I don’t want another Wolverine situation. Show the game trailers and gameplay, along with release date when the game is REALLY ready. Don’t make us wait 3-4 years.

Has Xbox released an exclusive anywhere near the quality of any of these games? Hi-Fi Rush is probably the best, but as great as it was, it's not a AAA title that's going to get players to get an Xbox. 11:24 it is plainly obvious, over the releases people have stopped buying COD at the same rate they used to as the emphasis goes to multiplayer, essentially, why am I paying $70 for a game when I only want the $20 single player? This gets people who wouldn’t have paid anything to sign up for game pass, they will intend to cancel it after the first month, but as has been shown with the subscription model, most people forget, then they start enjoying it.

But once upon a time Sony would try risky strategy of releasing games like Parappa, Um Jammy, Klonoa, Tombi, Speed Freaks, F1 All Stars, and PS2 gems such as Rule of Rose 🌹. Similarly on PS3, they had Afrika, Tokyo Jungle and more. But things dried up with less Japanese and fun games on PS4. Roll on to PS5 ...they have been fewer good games ...mainly remasters of PS4 games. This stems probably from moving HQ from Japan to the USA.

I swear not a single person has a good, reasonable, or fair take on this. Xbox had an AMAZING Showing. This is 100% true. Playstation had a decent showing. Both are getting tonnes of games and there's plenty of external context that needs to be taken into consideration. 1 - Even if Sony didn't win this round, they're still selling like mad and still have an outstanding lineup. 2 - Even if Xbox absolutely rocked this round...that's after 10 years of constant disappointment. 3 - One aberrant change of fortunes does not completely reverse the whole situation. and I'm really getting sick of the clickbait nonsense you guys keep posting. And how Everyone on either side of the coin is either 'Xbox won, PS sucks!" or "Lol no that means nothing and PS is still better and Xbox sucks" Why can't it be that this was good for everyone? But because we get to see some great games, both big and small, indie and AAA, showing more than just live services. Gaming is good. and gaming is healthiest when different companies are competing for your time and attention. the market is at its best when Nintendo, Sony, and Microsoft all have something of value to offer and this showcase was the best case scenario for the industry as a whole because it proved that the console gaming space will continue to be competitive. and companies can and will keep trying. All this tribalistic console war garbage is so stupid. IT'd be funny if it wasn't grown-assed adults making hit pieces and whining.

It feels like a tourniquet to stem the bleeding more than a legitimate series of announcements. I'm betting a good portion miss their release dates, but as a Series X owner, i would love for it to be true. It just feels like they clamoring to regain trust.

The gamepass value will increase when these games releases. I’m afraid for the future of PlayStation. Their games are too expensive, and their service is not good compared to gamepass.

Microsoft backed up a brinks truck to the 3rd party companies so they would get first crack at all 3rd party trailers for games being released this year, most of the first party stuff they showed won’t be arriving until 2025, and you have to remember Sony has just split there CEO position into distinct jobs so both people are getting used to there new jobs, plus Sony is getting there house back in order after Jim Ryan almost destroyed it on way out in September 2023, there not magically going to announce new games it takes time to get things back in order, and figure out what they have to announce that isn’t a live service game. So XBOX really didn’t win anything at all.

State of play isn’t the real PlayStation showcase tho is it? I’ve just ordered a 1tb series s, so I’ll use my ps5 for disk games for that and have. Xbox and games pass. Best of both. While competition kid healthy both have great IPs.

Yeah, gameplay is king. Three games in particular that are slated for a 2025 release with only one of those having authentic gameplay is a bit odd. South of Midnight (the Kena: Bridge of Spirits-like game) had gameplay and stellar visuals to boot. However, State of Decay 3, a game we saw a cinematic trailer for FOUR years ago was revealed via an extended cinematic trailer? And what's up with Fable not having any gameplay? That just seems strange. Perfect Dark was certainly a surprise to see, but given the tumultuous development cycle that game is currently undergoing, expect a 2026 release, which is probably a good thing. Another thing, WhatCulture, I know you want clicks and all, but why continue to fan the flames of console fanboyism with these thumbnails and provocative titles? Microsoft showcase was indeed excellent, quite possibly the best showcase they've had in years. Furthermore Microsoft, so far, admittedly has had the best presentation. Sony's State of Play was just that, a State of Play and they've yet to show their hand with their upcoming showcase later this year. No doubt you're gonna continue to fan the flames, but, in this case, at least don't be so premature about it. You guys seem to forget that the COD-console exclusive content was initialized by the XBOX 360, which makes Phil's commentary extra hilarious.

And don't defer to the [IN GAME FOOTAGE] or whatever prompt you saw a the bottom of the screen of said trailers. That's a common tactic used to often SIMULATE what gameplay will be like. A virtual slice, if you will. Yes, Avowed did have gameplay. Never said it didn't. However, the thing about Avowed, and Indiana Jones for that matter, that is a little odd is both of these games a slated for this year, but there is no release window/date announced at the moment.

Xbox nor PlayStation feels Current-Gen the best thing us gamers got this console generation is LOAD TIMES & the PS5 controller. That's it. None of the actual video games feel new or fresh or really updated. As I own all consoles I feel I can make that statement.

Xbox finally showing games and doing what Sony has been doing at an elite level for several years is not blowing them out of the water. Xbox definitely got me hype. But it’s still nothing compared to Sony and their high quality banger exclusives.

Xbox always and I mean ALWAYS has banger showcases. But then you play the games…..and then the reviews come out…..and then the KZbin content creators get to work….and then what do you hear? Phil apologizing….again…..and again….all I’m saying is don’t let the hype set yourselves up for what is POTENTIALLY disappointment. That being said I’m excited to play avowed, Indiana Jones, gears of war and Doom. Hope all those games deliver.
